Nice multi purpose ax,
October 27, 2009
By Cattaragus
|
"I purchased this ax as a multi purpose tool for camping and hunting trips. Its short length makes it perfect for this and the all steel construction and rubberized grip makes it a joy to use. I've had the hachet version now for 30 years and its still as useful as the day I recieved it as a gift. If your looking to do heavy cutting or split large pieces on a regular basis this ax is too light, that's the job for a larger, heavier tool. A great ax as long as you use it for its intended purpose."

well made,but NOT well honed,

"This axe seems well designed and well made.It lost one star for the POOR edge I received it with. Estwing may be worried about liability, but someone should tell them you're more likely to be hurt trying to use a dull axe than a sharp one!!"

"High quality and very functional ax for deer camp or any other camp setting. Good size and well made. Definitly an improvement over a hand ax for wood chopping and other cutting chores. Good value."

"A really dandy ax to have around camp. No more worries about broken wooden handles as the grandkids learn to split wood. Not too big and not too small. Just right."

NO POINT USING ANYTHING BUT AN ESTWING AXE,
January 21, 2009
By BUCK1943
from MEDFORD, OREGON
|
"I HAVE BOUGHT SEVERAL ESTWING 26" AXES DURING THE PAST 25 YEARS. SOMEHOW I KEEP GIVING THEM AWAY BECAUSE EVERYBODY WANTS ONE WHEN THEY SEE ME USING THE AXE. ESTWING IS THE BEST --- STURDY, ALL- STEEL CONSTRUCTION, TOTALLY DEPENDABLE, STRONG. OBVIOUSLY THEY MAKE VERY FUNCTIONAL, HIGHLY-VALUED GIFTS, SO I WILL CONTINUE BUYING, USING, AND GIVING THE ESTWING AXE."

Estwing Camper's Ax - 26",
October 14, 2008
By grumpytoad

"The axe is average. The factory grinding of the head was not even on each side of the blade and there was a flat spot on the blade edge. I had to hone the axe for 1.5 hours to get it where it was usable. I like the design and length. I think it could have been finished better so as to be user ready upon purchase without more honing. I realized after the fact that the axe is overpriced. I was able to find it at a local hardware store for significantly less. I love shopping at Cabelas, but this was not the best experience."

Estwing Campers Ax,

By Ginger

"Nice ax, nice "swing". We burn wood to heat our house and I use this ax to split kindling and other small stuff. Forty years ago, I bought an Estwing hatchet to use on the trap line and I STILL have it and use it."

Estwing Camper's Ax- 26",
July 15, 2007
By mwolfe
from small town, Iowa
|
"I am very impressed with the versatility of this tool! It can be used equally well with one hand or two. It is very comfortable to grip and swing. The size is perfect to take the place of a hatchet and a full axe. I have only used it a couple of times now but I am taking it on a canoe camping trip instead of a hatched and an axe as planned before my purchase. This tool is truly ideal for any camper/daytripper/hiker/picknicker/...... in short any outdoorsman/woman! I highly recommend this tool"

good camping ax,

"This is a good camping ax. The weight makes it to heavy for a long backpacking trip, but short trips are fine. It seems it's indestructable, compared to some other wood or fiberglass handles. Holds edge very well."
