"Have no problems with the rifle. It fired when both of the people I was hunting with had misfires, one with the most popular modern flintlock. Weight makes it easy to keep a steady hold but sling would be a great improvement when moving from place to place as well as fire sights. My eyes are not what they used to be. I've ordered the sights from Cabela's but await the backorder.
All in all I would recommend the rifle. It seems to be well made.

"A great all around rifle. I received this rifle as a Christmas gift from my father and absolutely love it. English flint seems to work best with the combination of FFFF black powder in the pan. The flint was positioned perfectly for a great strike right out of the box. Rifle always goes off without hesitation. Dropped a large doe 50 yards away with it. Very satisfied."

"I recently purchased this rifle in flintlock .50 calibre. Nicest rifle I've ever owned, and a joy to shoot. As previously stated, as long as you do the priming of the pan correctly, this rifle will fire every time. I was quite surprised to find that Cabela's stores aren't able to provide the 4F blackpowder that is so necessary to make my new rifle fire. I tried to use Pyrodex for pan priming, but ignition just isn't reliable enough to use anywhere but down at the range. 4F blackpowder fired it everytime. I had to find an online store to ship some blackpowder direct to me. Happy shooting!!"

"This is the second Traditional Hawkin rifle I have purchased. The first one that I bought was a 50 caliber caplock. The caplock shot so well that I decided to buy a 54 cal. in flintlock. The flintlock shoots every bit as well as the caplock. As long as I do my part and load the flint rifle properly, the rifle will fire every time. I have never had luck with agate flint so I us only English flint. These rifles are well made and balance well. I would recommend these rifles to anyone. They look good and are awsome shooters."
