terrific glass, and warranty,November 12, 2009
By yotehowlerfrom Julian, CA
"I bought a pair of the 10x28 Alaskan Guide compacts 5 years ago. I work in wildlife management and agriculture. I've been very pleased with their quality, the image quality is comparable to a pair of compact zeiss binoculars I used to carry.
These binos go with me everyday I work, they are hauled around in a pickup, on an ATV and on a horse. I don't keep them in a case, most of the time they are on a harness on my chest. Basically I am saying that a pair of binos see a lot of use with me, and I do not pamper them. I am sure that a case could be made that I abuse my binoculars.
My original pair finally developed some problems a couple of weeks ago. I contacted Cabelas and they said to send them in for evaluation which I did last week. I was so pleased to find a new pair of 10x28s delivered to my door this afternoon.
This is an excellent product, and Cabelas stands behind it. I have recommended these to my friends in the past, and will continue to do so in the future."

Very good pair of binoculars!,November 1, 2009
By amateurastronomerfrom San Diego
"I am very pleased with the over-all quality of my new 10 x 28 Cabela's compact Alaskan Guide binoculars. The mechanical construction is high-quality and is comparable to that of my Pentax 8 x 25 SW roof-prism binoculars. The optical quality is very good and is comparable to that of my Nikon 10 x 25 Travelite porro-prism binoculars. The night-time brightness is also very good; I can see more stars as pin-points through the 28 mm objective lenses of the Cabela's 10 x 28 than I can through the 25 mm objective lenses of the Nikon Travelite 10 x 25. The image sharpness is slightly less than that of my Kowa 10 x 42 BD roof-prism binoculars. In my opinion, only very expensive binoculars such as those from Kowa, Zeiss or Swarovski can exceed the quality of the Cabela's compact Alaskan Guide binoculars, by a small margin. The 10 x 28 Cabela's compact Alaskan Guide binoculars will now replace the Nikon 10 x 25 Travelite as my binoculars for travelling.
BD."

awsome!!,July 22, 2009

"big power for their size (which is just right, small enough to go everywhere)
they also have little eye cups that slide out to make little "blackrooms" for your eyes - nice feature
great for scoping lines!"

Trains,planes and automobiles,June 23, 2009
By Annie1950from Georgia
"The 12X was excellent as was the size and weight. I would prefer a soft cup eye piece. I bought these for an Alaska trip/cruise. The 12 X is great when you are not moving but from a Denali bus, float plane, train, and moving ship it was difficult to find the animals and keepthe binoculars on them."

Cabela's Compact Alaskan Guide Binoculars,May 7, 2009
By Norm3from Oregon
"The 10 power binoculars have sharp images, are lightweight and are handy to use. The only minus I have noted is that they are compacts so the lenses need to be closely aligned with your eyes to see clearly. This is easily accomplished by adjusting the binoculars."

worth the bucks,January 21, 2009
By Bowhunter180from Marlton NJ
"Having used these binoculars for the past month in some rather tough conditions (15 degrees and freezing rain) I would say they are a soildly build product. Although a small field of view the clarity is very good and I had no problem using them even while wearing my glasses. Most compacts I have a hard time using with my glasses. All and all worth the money spent."

Alaskan Guide Compacts 12x30,January 7, 2009
By MidwestSportsmanfrom Wisconsin
"These are the best binoculars I have ever used. I looked at binoculars 2 or 3 times the price that seemed lesser quality than these. Cabela's hit this one right on the head! Super compact and portable (can fit in your shirt pocket, ultra clear view, lightweight, awesome in low light conditions. I could not be happier with my purchase. Thanks Cabelas' for another quality product!"

Alaska Guide Compacts,December 30, 2008
By MYoungfrom Sevierville, Tennessee
"I purchased two of the AG compact binoculars and gave them to my sons for Christmas. They have outstanding clarity and are obviously well made. I own a pair of Swarovski compacts and these alaskas are very comparable at about 40% of the cost. The warranty makes you feel comfortable about your purchase. One son is an archery deer hunter and the other is a tree dog hunter. These glasses fill the need of each perfectly. Cabelas have these made for them overseas and the value is just hard to beat."

So far so good, but . . .,December 25, 2008
By HuckMucusfrom Colorado
"These binos are much better than other binos I have owned. That said, I have never spent a lot on binos, so that may not be saying much. Especially compared to the $1,000.00 jobs that I've never even looked through before.
This pair is very clear, very light in wieght, and I think they will be perfect for my intended use. I crawl alot through Rocky Mountain forests, looking for that tell-tale color/movement only 50 or 75 yards away in the trees/brush, trying to see the smallest part of an elk, before they see me. These binos appear well-suited for that.
When I adjusted them, the difference split in focus between my two eyes was very well accounted for, unlike my experience with other binos. Usually I end up with a blur in one eye or the other. Clarrity was easy to achieve in *both* eyes with these binos.
Now that the technology exists, manufacturers should go ahead, go out on a limb, and make the attached, flip-up lens covers as standard fair on every optic made. These binos have the old caps that are easy to lose and a pain to take off and replace as you try to concentrate on that spot you are putting a sneak on. This is a real conscern, since Cabela's Soft Shell Bino Cover is about worthless."

FANTASTIC!!!!!!,November 7, 2008
By barleyboy22from Hastings, NY
"Just received these binos, and am thoroughly impressed!!!!! The clarity is superb, and I was able to see extremely well as it was getting towards dark when I tried them. When I first checked out the specs, I was concerned about the 260Ft. FOV, but it is not an issue, as I could pick up a target immediately where my old pair it would take time to find it in the lenses. I also like the molded slots for the neck strap. My old pair had a cheap string that would get in the way when you picked them up to view through them. Excellent quality for the price paid. I highly recommend these binos!!!!!!!!"

Great Binoculars...,November 4, 2008
By WV1BowHunterfrom WV
"Binoculars just arrived today and I couldn't wait to take them out of the box and try them out. I read the reviews before buying and I can say that the reviews were right ON. A great pair of binoculars. Images are crisp and focusing is a breeze. In low light coniditions, these let light in so you can see in those low light conditions (last dusk, early dawn). I had a dress shirt on when I opened the binoculars and you can slide them right into the top pocket and they just disapper. I have had other compact binoculars (Paid less), but they do not compare at ALL to these. These are GREAT... Buy them and you won't be disappointed..."

Dandy Compacts,October 22, 2008
By North47from Houghton, Michigan
"I am very satisfied with these quality binnoculars. They were worth the wait. Although I purchased them to carry on hunting trips, I find they are great to keep in the truck to look at items of interest you come upon by chance. They have good edge to edge clarity and seem quite bright for small optics. Focusing is simple and they stay where set. I have used other brands that were not as good, but I will admit they did cost less. Indeed, these are compacts. In fact if they were any smaller they would be hard to use. The case that came with them is very practical and of sufficient quality to be useful. One is more likely to have their binnoculars with them if they are handy to carry and not to large. Portability is great & optical clarity is superior. What more could you want in a compact binnocular!"

Exceptional and amazing,July 21, 2008
By Ecologistfrom Albany, NY
"While they are diminutive in both size and weight, they pack amazing clarity and utility. I use them for my work as a field ecologist and I hardly notice the weight around my neck or in my pack. The best bang for the buck I've ever had in binos...I won't take a hike or trip without them again!"
