"This is my third cuckoo clock. This was a catalog purchase, and when we bought this clock it was on sale at what is pretty much a "cheap" cuckoo clock price. Because of the low price we had some reservations, but Cabelas has an excellent return policy so we went for it. This clock is an excellent purchase even at full price.
You never know how a clock is measured in a catalog, so to give you an idea of how large this clock is on a wall, from antler tip to the bottom of the pendulum it is about 21". For those of you who aren't familiar with cuckoo clock operations, it comes with an instructional DVD that includes the manufacturing process. The clock also comes with a certificate of authenticity, and is of the quality and detail which one would expect from a Black Forest cuckoo clock.
Of course, since the clock is totally mechanical as opposed to the precicion of quartz movement or atomic clocks it requires a number of "tweaks" of the pendulum leaf to get it accurate, and all mechanical cuckoo clocks will need additional tweaking from time to time. That's part of their charm.
We are quite pleased and very impressed with the clock and the price. It was an excellent purchase."

"I've had mine now for almost two years and I love the clock. The weight driven movements are so much easier to set than key driven ones that this one day clock is constantly running while my key driven 30 day clocks often run out. The quality is great. The cuckoo reminds me of one my grandmother had. My little nephew loves to come over and watch the little bird come out. I'm very pleased with this product."

"I bought this clock a month ago (Jan 09) at the Cabela's store during my lunch break! I have always been a fan of cuckoo clocks, and I already have a couple at home. I bought this for my office at work. I could not believe the quality of the clock for such a reasonable price for a cuckoo clock. I have researched and you will be pressed to find this same clock for under $300 anywhere else. I bought the dark finish.
I have received so many compliments from my co-workers about it. They all took a minute to stop and admire it. I have it adjusted so that it keeps perfect time, and is always accurate to the minute with the time on my office phone. It took about a week to get right. The winding is not a problem, since I am there to wind it everyday anyway, it's just on Mondays that I have to start it again since it stops over the weekend. I especially love the wooden hands and numbers!"

"I purchased this Hunter's Cuckoo Clock a month ago and am very pleased with its' performance. Granted, it does take a little bit of effort in adjusting the timing, but if you position the leaf as it appears in the picture of this site, I guaranty that the time keeping will be accurate. For those that do not like the appearance of the excess stick beyond the leaf's tip on the pendulum, it can be trimmed. Do not trim the bottom of the stick, trim where the clamp is that attaches to the hanger. The night-off feature is an excellent addition to this time piece.
In reference to pulling the weights up daily #winding#, that is part of the course. If memory serves me correctly, decades ago, eight day Cuckoo Clocks were non-existent. And besides, it clearly states that it is a One Day operation clock. So I do not understand why some people are complaining about it.
In closing, this clock is worth every penny."

"I got this cuckoo clock as a early christmas gift from my wife, after asking for one for 5 years , and it is one of the best gifts i have ever recieved, it is very simple to assemble, and to set it does not take a week, just keep your eye on it and just make slight adjustments to it for the first couple hours, i can not say enough about it i give it 20 stars"

"This is a nice clock for a someone who wants a basic Cuckoo clock. The detail is excellent and you can tell it is of high quality wood. The draw back of this model is that you have to pull the weights up everyday.I have forgotten once and had to reset it when I got home. Also getting the timing down takes a while. You adjust it running too fast or slow by moving the leaf on the pendalum. It took about a week to get it correct. Overall I am happy."

"Purchased this clock for my wife at valentines and she loves it. Only flaw is you have to wind everyday and that can be anoying. Can also be tricky at getting the time adjusted cause it takes a little while and you have to adjust by the pendulum in very small movements . Clock itself is very well made to say the least."

"I absolutely love the Hunter's Cuckoo Clock. I purchased the dark finish. Very rich looking. It arrived quickly, packaged with care and with complete, easy to follow instructions. The heirloom quality and craftmanship of this clock is exceptional and keeps perfect time after only a day or so of adjusting the pendulum. The rhythmic ticking is very soothing in the background and the cuckoo chime is perfect. I like the ability of being able to turn the cuckoo off, if desired. I find that it has become second nature to walk over to the clock in the morning and pull the weights. That is all I have to do once a day to enjoy this lovely addition. Hand-crafted; German made. For the price you can't go wrong!"
