Cabela's Heavy Snowshoe Bindings,
March 23, 2009
By Enough

"My hunting partner and I do alot of winter hunting here in New England and we use snowshoes most of the time and have in recent years switched to these bindings. We find them to be the absolute best available bindings on any market. Easy on, easy off and they stay on all day without any further adjustments. Great binding!!"

"A huge improvement over the old leather bindings. The locking buckle-clasps are easy to adjust and make the putting on and taking off of the snow shoes a snap!"

Heavy-Duty Snowshoe Bindings,
February 4, 2009
By mtnman2

"I've been looking for a long time, for a newer version of the traditional, leather snowshoe bindings, something like you get with the new high tech shoes. I was very pleased to find some, at last, at Cabela's. Although not as high tech as the new stuff, these bindings are a tremendous step up from the leather bindings. Leather bindings have worked for hundreds of years, but I just didn't like the fact that they stretched (I would sometimes step right out of them) and had to be adjusted for each different person, which was a real pain. These bindings adjust in a snap. And the material should last forever. The only complaint I have is the fastening material. I'm not sure what could be used instead, but it was a bit cumbersome putting them on the shoes. I think if the straps were longer, they would be easier to use, cut them off when you're finished. and only time will tell whether they loosen or not. But for now, my old faithful, wooden snowshoes are back to work again."

"These bindings look good, but a lot of snowshoe swivel in the rear happens with standard wooden-type snowshoes. It's really unfortunate that they aren't built like the bindings on some other "modern" metalic snowshoes --- which I haven't been able to purchase separately.
The bindings are a "one pull" improvement over the conventional rubber bindings on my old snowshoes. But the old ones held "straight and true"."

"These are plastic bindings made by faber. These are plastic copies of faber leather bindings, and look alot better in the picture than in real life. They probable work OK,but they look cheap! If you like the wood snowshoes you would probable rather have the leather binding from faber."

Happily Suprised Customer,
May 13, 2008
By MrsOdie
from Wisconsin

"I bought these snowshoe binding's last winter and love them. I grew up on snowshoes, racing and hunting in them, using the old leather buckle bindings. When I pulled the old snowshoes out of the rafters to have them refinished the old bindings fell apart forcing me to look for new ones. The old leather straps were always a pain to put on in the cold but stayed in place once set so I was reluctant to change. I could not find the buckle leather bindings so I decided to try these ones a friend had recomended and am very glad I did. I have since told all my fiends they should switch to these. I love them, you set it once and your foot stays secure. The next time you go out just slide your foot in and click it and your set to go. No more fumbling with buckles in the cold."

Snow Shoe Bindings,
March 10, 2008
By Twotraks
from Northern California
|
"Took the snowshoes out for the first time with the new Cabela's Heavy-duty bindings The bindings seem to work very well. Easy to install and easy to enter and exit. I however, am not sure the attachment method will stand heavy use. You may need to carry extra neoprene strips to re-attach the bindings should the ones fail. Also you need pliers to pull the knots in the attachment strips."

Snowshoe binding,
February 20, 2008
By mfog15
from Turner Maine
|
"As I wrote in the review for the snowshoes titled , "WLKN N A WNTR WNDR LAND."
" I think the bindings are a little narrow and, somewhat tough to tie on due to the die cut rubber straps all the same size & the snowshoes being hand made ( every one is different in the webbing.)" the little tie compression clip for the lacing is very weak. I think there are stronger & better compression clips available that will work just fine. Over all I like the finished combo. but it could be better. Still, Thanks Cabela's."

heavy duty snowshoe bindings,
February 20, 2008
By windwalking
from Galena, Alaska
|
"I received a beautiful set of home made snowshoes for x-mas then had to find some bindings. Not as easy as that would seem. My search was answered by Cabela's in a very satisfied way. The instructions were good, the quality was very good, and ease of adjustment was excellant. Adjustments for different boot types was easy. My only disappointment was that they were on backorder for over a month. They are so good. maybe thats why they were on backorder?"

Worked Great,
February 20, 2008
By snowfella
from Massachusetts
|
"My father gave me an antique pair of wooden snowshoes. When I tried to use them the old bindings were inadequate and kept coming loose. I ordered these bindings and they were easy to install and worked great. I went on a hike in the White Mountains in NH and did a lot of bush whacking over rough and steep terrain. The Cabelas binding stayed tight and held the snowshoes on just fine."

Cabela's Heavy-Duty Snowshoe Bindings,
February 20, 2008
By DickT
|
"Comparing the Cabela's binding and the heavy thick bindings I replaced, Cabela's wins hands down. It is so much easier to secure the snowshoe to your feet, and also, no effort in releasing the bindings. If I wasn't as tight as bark on a tree, I would have purchased them long ago. Thanks for a very fine product. Dick T."

Excellent product,
February 5, 2008
By mtnhiker

"I used these bindings on a pair of wood & rawhide Alaskan snowshoes that are 40 years old. Previously I had both leather and neoprene bindings that had worn out. Both of these old bindings were less secure and more complicated than the Cabelas showshoe bindings. Putting the Cabelas bindings on the snowwhoes was easy (good instructions). And the bindings were easy to adjust and fit to boots and held the boots securely. On several 6-8 mile showshoe hikes I didn't experience any problems. The bindings look study and should last for many seasons of heavy use. I would buy these again."
