"This "puppy" check cord is junk. For almost $20 you get 25 cents worth of nylon rope and a nice brass clasp. This thing ties itself into 20 knots just sitting on the counter."

"The check cord is of good quality polypropilene material and, with reasonable care, should last many years. The major defect is that it has no loop woven into the free end. Being of polypropilene, it will not hold a bowline knot, so I will have to splice a loop into it myself, or lash the end to the standing part to form a loop. At a net cost of something in excess of $18.00, it should have arrived with a loop already spliced in. Also, the swivel snap, while securely mounted, is of inferior design and will not last as long as the rope itself. A spring-loaded clip would have worked better and would not have impacted the cost significantly."
