Need Insulated Version of this Footwear,January 1, 2009

"I received these almost a week ago and have wore them a few times already since we had some snow and nasty weather. The moc is constructed very well and should stand up to years of service. I do think the steel shank makes the moc a little uncomfortable to wear all day long, unless like another reviewer had posted that the moc needs to be worn in, so will hold back any negative comments on comfortability for now. The moc does keep your feet dry without a doubt, but warm is another story. If you plan on wearing these mocs in cold or very cold weather do what I did. I knew the moc was uninsulated, so I did a little forethinking. I orderd one size larger than my normal shoe size to allow room for extra thick insulated socks. I have a pair of thinsulate insulated socks, with the larger size moc and these socks the fit is perfect. If I had ordered my regular shoe size the moc would of been way to small if I wanted to wear the heavy socks. Actually I wear a pair of sock liners under the thinsulate socks and the moc is still comfortable and the fit is good. Now this recommendation is if you plan on wearing these in cold to extremely cold weather. If you just want to use them as rain wear in mild temperatures, and wear your ordinary socks with them, then I would order my regular shoe size. I did try these with regular socks, not real thin socks, but cotton crew socks that had a little bulk. The moc of course was a little big because of the larger size I ordered, but what amazed me was how cold my feet got with just being outdoors a short time. To wear these mocs in cold, snowy weather you do need heavy insulated socks.
I do not know why these mocs are not offered in an insulated version with about 400 grams of thinsulate insulation for those who do want to wear these in cold weather."

"I’ve been buying these Lace-Up Mocs for about 10 yrs. The best shoe I’ve found for gardening and just about anything outdoors. I like being able to get my shoes in a couple inches of water without getting wet socks (use them around the edge of lake and other wetland areas), and able to hose them off if they get muddy. Here in FL where it's hot, this uninsulated moc is comfortable during the hot summer months as well as during our brutal winters of 40 or so degrees (yea, right!).
I tried another 3-Eye Lace-Up Moccasin brand at a cheaper price but prefer Cabela’s moc so long as they don’t get too pricey by comparison. I like shopping at Cabela’s because in those rare instances where there is a problem with a product I’ve purchased from them, they have always been reasonable and treated me fairly. If you’re thinking about giving this moc a try when it goes on sale, don’t hold your breath as I’ve not found it on sale for the past 10 yrs.
The only small gripe is that the laces often break before the mocs have to be tossed. It’s an odd size lace, and unable to find any like the ones that come with shoe (usually cut-up rawhide laces but harder to tie the mocs snug). Wish Cabela’s would include an extra pair of laces in the box, or make them available for sale. I’ve been told that Cabela’s stores sell the laces but they are not available online or if ordering by phone. That’s great but doesn’t work well when the closest store is more than a 1,000 miles away.
Especially in the southern states, I think a steel toe version of this moc would be popular among contractor personnel if encountering muddy site conditions. However, complying with OSHA regs would probably turn this 3-Eye Lace-Up Moc into something looking like a pair of waders."

"I tried the 3-eye lace up moccasins for the first time and after only 2 months of near everyday wear from Sept-Oct, the heel slightly seperated from the rest of the shoe at the back. My feet kept feeling damp, but I figured there is no way these are leaking , but found the slight seperation. I returned them and received a new pair very promptly, but was not happy that I had to pay for return shipping. If I have a repeat occurrence with the heel seperating, I will not ask for another pair. Otherwise, shoes are very comfortable, nice looking, reasonably priced, the sizing recommendation is accurate"
