Alaska Bush Camp Knife,October 27, 2009
By SFTECH553from San Antonio, TX
"I classify this knife as a true survival tool that can multi task. The Alaska Bush Camp Knife is made of strong steel, subdued finish blade, rubber hand grip, lanyard hole, easy to sharpen with steel, hone with ceramic, hold a razor sharp edge, heavy enough to use for light chopping and sturdy enough to use as offensive weapon. The Alaska Bush Camp Knife has proven itself to be a great skinner even with winter gloves on because of its design. Alaska Bush Camp Knife deserves an optional sheath modeled after a military USN Mk 2 plastic scabbard or the military’s M8 bayonet scabbard. This knife with a military style scabbard will be the ideal knife in the forest, hunting or military use. I now have a knife for life and recommend this knife to all woodsmen.
Respectfully,
SFTECH553"

just plain awsome,October 24, 2009
By mrcheapiefrom Napa, Ca
"Im no longer able to hunt and have become camp cook. The camp knife in combo with the cub bear are just plain awsome around camp. From slicing tomatos to cutting the roast or that one limb making the table woble. What I carry on my side is one that Knives of Alaska no longer make, the Hunter Series-Africain. Even the sheaths are well made, however a little large. I would refer this knife to everyone."

Very nice CAMP knive,August 26, 2009
By OzarkDrifterfrom Yellville,AR
"I have owned this knife for a number of years and only have two very minor complaints. While trying to split the pelvic bone on a deer I chipped the blade - thought it would handle it but I guess not and I wish they offered a left hand sheath. Overall a great camp knife. I also own a Muskrat and a BearCub which are all I use for skinning."

If I got stuck, and only had one knife...,December 30, 2008
By Dan3006from Texas
"Knives of Alaska are about the best you can get off the shelf. The D2 needs a little maintenance to prevent surface staining, but other than that will hold an edge very well and is unbelievably tough. You will need a diamond system to really sharpen it well, because the steel is so hard - Rockwell in the 58-60 range. I have used this as my primary deer-skinning knife for 2 years, and I never have to resharpen. A big benefit is that because it has plenty of heft to it, you can use the back of the blade to break off lower legs, and so don't need to carry a bonesaw. This is a real timesaver, and the D2 is tough enough to handle it, then go cut down a tree."

Great Steel, Great Design,November 10, 2008
By cariboobcfrom British Columbia, Canada
"I selected this knife because I understood D2 to be good quality steel and the handle fit very well in my hand. The thumb notch in the top of the blade is very well thought out as well, especially when one is "getting right in there".
I also liked the good quality leather sheath that came with it.
This fall I gutted and skinned a moose without touching up the blade. Very happy with the steel. I would definitely buy another one."

A solid value,September 23, 2008
By StewHunterfrom Hinton, WV
"The knife was just what I wanted. A heavy, sturdy, very sharp tool for those field dressing moments when I need to sever stubborn leg joints. The only complaint is with the lanyard "rivet" . It was sloppily installed, with one side jammed way deep inside the handle and the other side sticking out. It doesn't affect function, but for the price, they should have got this right."

The Best Knife You Need to Own,May 17, 2008
By cueball1970from Schertz, TX
"I've had several types of knives with stainless steel blades and all had the same problem...holding an edge. Not this one. With is hard carbon steel, it is easy to put an edge on this knife with a whetstone and once sharp, it retains that edge through abuse. I use this for everything hunting, from cutting down small limbs in my way, field dressing and skinning out large prey. It is a bit large, but once you get used to the weight, you'll be fine. OH, be careful not to cut yourself."

Great,March 11, 2008
By HarlanDfrom South Wyoming
"This one Big Tough Knife. It has been used from gutting animals, to being used as a hatchet. It still keeps a good edge that will sharpen right back up with ease. Little big, but I keep it in a day pack when out in the field. Great Knife."

WOW,October 25, 2007
By Chipbusterpro
"This knife is rugged. It is extremly sharp, and you can shave your hairs with it. I bought it for a all around knife that I could take any where and do anything with. The blade is made with good steel that is thick and won't break. You could even pry nails out of wood with it if you wanted. The handle on this knife is strong thick and is made of good rubber. The handle is also good for wet jobs and has a good grip all around. The sheath that comes with it is great, it is made out of good leather and is better than those other want to be nylon sheaths. This is great for almost every jod you can think of."

camp knife,October 9, 2007
By briandefrom florida
"I have not used it yet, but I am very impressed with the design. The handle construction could be improved, the rivets and gromet for the lanyard could be flush with the handle surface, but this is minor. I was skeptical about D2 steel but have become fond of it after spending time with the knife and my sharpening system."

Well made knife,September 24, 2007
By johnandvondafrom Northern AZ
"This knife is a brut. It has a very good grip and a great all around blade. It would be a perfect all around camp knife. The only thing I can think of that might be a negitive is if you are trying for the absolute lightest pack you can certainly find lighter knives than this. You won't however find many made better."

great all around knife,August 7, 2007
By racnoocfrom Fairbanks, Alaska
"This is as close to a perfect combination of camp/hunting knife you can get. I use it as a Camp knife, but I find I use it more for actual field dressing of game. I added this knife to my Brown Bear Combo making a perfect all-purpose set of knives. The quality is excellent. It will hold an edge almost as well as my Brown Bear Combo, which is to be expected of just a 'camp knife'. I would not use it on anything smaller than an elk as it is too large, but for Alaska/Yukon moose, it is a "MUST HAVE". I purchased one as a Christmas present for a friend, and he was quite grateful while skinning out his next large kill."

AK Camp Knife,April 17, 2007
By galexfrom Alaska
"I have not used this knife as yet. I purchased it for the upcoming fishing and hunting year. I will be most happy to rate this product after a season of use. My initial impressions are favorable as it is a solid one piece knife with a non-slip type handle. Real test will be how it stands up to salt water, bear hides, moose hide, and holds an edge."
