"If you buy these knives be prepared to spend time sharpening them. Mine came without a usable edge but they did have a good fit and finish otherwise."

Great blades,October 22, 2007
By Warpstonefrom Los Angeles, CA
"The knives were razor sharp and comfortable to wear on the hip. They are fit nicely in the hand and easy to hold. Had I managed to get a buck I am sure they would have performed spectacularly."

Knives of Alaska Light Hunter,October 8, 2007
By NorCalBlacktailHunterfrom Lodi, CA
"I really like my new knives from Knives of Alaska. The small cub blade is razor sharp and holds an edge pretty well. I was however disappointed in the light hunter knife. It starts out very sharp, but does not hold an edge long. Also, the gut hook is on the smaller side and snags easily on bunching hide when in use. I did find re-sharpening fairly easy and look forward to my next skinning job. I must mention that the knives do require sharpening between each use."

Could be better,December 28, 2006

"Okay knives. Skinner is hard to to put an edge on due to thickness. Doesn't hold edge well. Biggest fault...they rust fast!"

Won't hold an edge!,December 12, 2006
By Airridemanfrom Coopersville, MI
"I love the balance and feel of these knivies. Used them for around 4-5 years now. They sharpen up well but just will not hold an edge very well. You'll be glad for the little sharpening steel!
The sheeth is good quality and retains the knivies well, but for the price the knivies need to hold an edge longer."

Hunting Knives,November 11, 2006
By carpetdude101from Michigan
"I've been using the Light Hunter Combo for several seasons now and highly recomend this set, this is the ultimate whitetail deer hunting knife set. From field care to butchering I have not been let down. The "Cub Bear" easily cuts through the toughest tendons as well as the more delicate work such as caping, and removing silver skin from the meat. The cleaver is also a pleasure to use, it has a gut hook which makes short time of gutting & splitting the skin for caping. Its large cutting surface and radial shape make it perfect for skining chores, also its weight greatly aids in splitting even the thickset pelvic bones with ease. The only drawback I've experienced is that whenever one of my hunting partners bags a deer they come to my stand to borrow my knives! After four seasons I would estimate that they have been used on more than a dozen whitetail deer, countless rabbits & other small game. If you're in the market for a cheap set of knves for a season or two, these knives are not for you. If you're looking for high quality knives to last a lifetime-look no further."

Good Knives,November 2, 2006
By MattOfrom Texas
"I've been using this knife set for a few years. They are razor sharp and very high quality with full length tangs. I've used the small knife for everything from fileting dove breasts to caping whitetails. It's the perfect size for both jobs. You really only need the big knife on animals blackbear size and up. I have been disappointed with the knives' inability to hold an edge well. I used the small one to do an entire deer (gutting, caping, and boning). When I was done, it was dull. They are easy to sharpen, but I wish they held a better edge after a big job. Still, it's hard to find better knives."
