"I am not a treasure hunter so this comment will only reflect my opinion as a novice. I bought this detector when I lost an expensive necklace in the yard where I free range chickens and ducks. The old detector I had was useless unless you wanted to find every nail, old bottle cap, scrap of fence wire or other minute piece of steel that may have been buried for years. The discriminate dial in conjunction with the sensitivity dial are a must have when you are trying to target specific metals like silver and gold. I found my necklace in less than an hour after I had previously searched for many hours over several days. Needless to say my old detector was donated to the local thrift store. I am already planning to search for a few rings I have lost in the front yard over the years. I would recommend this detector to anyone who is just getting started or who like me, keeps a detector on hand for jobs like tracking water lines, property marker posts, or finding lost tools in the field."

"Spend the extra money to get a better one. This one seems very cheap! It beeps at the slightest motion in the water. Very confusing...is there treasure or not...We put a gold ring on the bottom of the sand in 1 foot of water and it did not detect is when it was directly over it. We are sending it back."
