If you enjoy a roomy compartment in a sleeping bag, our Rectangular Alaskan Guide Model™ will meet your needs. Tough breathable Pertex® ripstop nylon gives you a water-resistant and downproof shell with durability to last for years, and the 220T cotton liner fabric is as warm, soft and comfortable as your flannel sheets at home. Dual insulation technology keeps you warm and comfortable in frigid temperatures. Down holds heat most efficiently when allowed to loft, so we fill the top of the bag with 650 fill-power down. Thermolite® Extreme insulates most effectively under the compression of body weight, so we use it to stuff the bottom of the bag. Huge 3-D construction incorporates sidewalls to give you a roomy sleeping compartment that seals in warmth without the claustrophobic feeling common in most bags. Exclusive Nightsight™ drawcords let you cinch the fully enclosed hood and chest tubes independently in the dark to seal out icy breezes. Extra wide bands of ZipGlide™ fabric mean the self-cleaning No. 10 YKK® zipper won't snag on bulky draft tubes. Exterior valuables pocket stores important items. Includes a 100% waterproof roll top compression stuff bag for convenient transport. Imported.

Elk Hunt,October 27, 2009
By LasVegasElkHunterfrom Las Vegas, NV
"Never having a good bag before made me want to spend up for this Guide Model. We went on a 7-day Elk Hunt out of Pagosa Springs, CO. The temps were in the mid-20's up to mid 40's, and the bag keep me very warm. Sometimes I wouil have to adjust the zipper like a thermostat to keep from getting too warm/cold but it was very comfortable. The best part of the bag is the compression sack it comes with. It skrinks the bag to 1/3 its normal size and keeps it water proof. I highly recommend this Cabela Bag."

"the bag works great. used it during a rocky mountain elk hunt in the snow, sleet, and rain. Not having any heat in our tent, this bag was the most desired place to be when the sun went down."

Good Bag!,October 26, 2009
By Motisafrom Lafayette, LA
"I purchased this bag for an elk hunt in the rockies by horseback. The temperature at night ranged from 30 to 0 degrees. I slept comfortably. The bag is very roomy. It's too big for a pack, but fine for my trip."

Great bag, but not for a big guy,October 15, 2009
By Clarkiesparkiefrom Old Fort, North Carolina
"I purchased the long -40 degree, 36x90" and it is a very warm and comfortable bag except that I couldn't zip it up and be comfortable. It just doesn't have enough room. There needs to be a wider size to select from. I regretfully had to return it because of the width and also the zipper was pretty bad to get stuck on the lining fabric. I would definitely purchase another one if only a 40 or 42 inch width was offered. Please, Cabela's, consider this request. I have friends who recommended this to me but also have the same complaint."

Five Star Sleeping Bag,October 12, 2009
By amberbudfrom North Carolina
"Wanted a sleeping bag that would keep me warm on night below 32 degrees and allowed me to toss and turn during my sleep without the bag turning over and sliding off the pad.
Got just what I wanted."

Need to offer Magnum size,October 11, 2009
By winchestnut
"Fantastic bag in many respects except I found that the 36 inch by 90 inch left me feeling claustrophobic and regretfully I returned the bag - thankful for Cabala's excellent customer service. I am 6'3" and 215 lbs and am not an NFL linebacker - just an ordinary guy, but it drove me nuts. I would love to see the bag offered in a 40 inch or 42 inch wide version so that I can do something with my arms except have them straight by my side."

A big bag with enough room...,October 5, 2009
By SpeckKiller
"I am 6'4" 285#'s and thought I was not going to be able to get the thing zipped past my shoulders but I was pleasantly surprised to find I fit completely into the bag with no problems and room to spare. I used this bag hunting on the Kavik River near Prudhoe Bay, Alaska in -10 conditions and it did fine with a bivy for heavy winds and snow. The bag says "-40 Tall" and it made me a believer. Good zippers and good waterproof dry stuff sack that compresses came with the bag. After freezing in short bags for so many years I finally found a bag that suits a bigger guy in the cold. I watched my buddy bundle up with clothes to go to bed as I got undressed and climbed in."

Smaller Than Advertised,September 10, 2009
By RMcDonaldfrom Winslow IN
"This bag appeares to be a very high quality piece. However I purchased it for the 36" width and 4" sides "for extra comfort" because I'm a big guy. The width actually measured 31" and even with the 4" sides was not as advertised. Cabela's products seem to be falling into this catagory of smaller than catalog stated sizes. Cabelas always makes an effort to warn us of known size discripencies but this may be a new product. Should be measured by girth. I will be returning it but I will always be coming back for your great service."

Great Bag TERRIBLE stuff sack,July 28, 2009
By hollczfrom Pacific Northwest
"The warmth and comfort of this sleeping bag is exceptional, however the compression stuff sack/dry bag is not of quality. I purchased the bag because my boyfriend and I have used his on several occasions. He bought his 4 years ago, and the dry bag is made out of different material now. On our first five-day whitewater rafting trip, the seams of the dry bag got warm in the sunlight and came appart.....the older dry bag is made out of much more durable material. So beware if your seams on your dry bags are glued don't let it get too hot, or it may come appart."

Alaskan Guide, Rectangular, -20F, Long,June 24, 2009
By Pinecrickerfrom North Idaho
"I originally bought the regular length, but ended up exchanging it for a long size. I am 6' tall and the regular was just a hair too short. I weigh about 230lbs and the bag is very roomy for me. As usual, great customer service with Cabela's in exchanging the bag, one of the reasons I keep coming back.
I am a cold sleeper so I bought the -20 rating. It kept me very warm sleeping in the Mountains of Idaho this Spring. I left the bag unzipped a bit and was comfortable. I also didn't get too hot when the temps warmed up. The bag is definitely comfortable over a wide range of temperatures, and I plan on using it this fall when the temps really drop and am not worried about getting cold in it.
Overall this is an outstanding sleeping bag. I particularly like the cotton lining which is super warm and much more comfortable than nylon lined sleeping bags. The bag comes with a waterproof compression sack that works great. Although this isn't really a backpacking bag, using the compression bag you can get it down to a very manageable size.
Cabela's really got it right with this sleeping bag, it is a serious mountain snooze machine!"

Nice, comfy, and warm bag,June 14, 2009
By TooRiskyfrom NW Washington State, BigFoot Researcher Cascades
"I am pretty big guy with shoulders that have a problem fitting most anything. This bag was no exception, but this is what I figured. I would have returned it if it did not have a zipper all the way down to the bottom. What I do is use the bag in conjunction with the Cabelas self inflating bed matt and use the bag as a super warm down blanket and it works great.
If used as a sleeping bag it has to be even better, very comfy inner lining and I have found it is very water proof. I got rained on in the middle of the night while sleeping under the stars, well I awoke in the morning to everything nice and wet except for me, I was warm and dry under my sweet bag..."

Great bag,April 9, 2009
By wasaptfrom Texas
"This bag comes with it's own compression sack and a oversize bag for long term storage. It is very warm and comfortable to get into even when cold. I recently used it in the artic on my polar bear hunt and was glad I didn't pay more for another brand of a -40 bag."

"I bought two of the Alaskan Guide sleeping bags. One for me and one for my wife. We have only used them once so far, but we will be using them a lot whenever we start camping more. We both were really pleased with them and they keep you good a warm. I was impressed with the room that is inside them and they are really comfortable. I highly recommend them."

Not for the backpacker or hiker who walks a lot!,December 30, 2008
By BrokenKneefrom Virginia and Alaska
"This is an excellent sleeping bag, with lots of shoulder room and space for my Bloodhound to slip into the bottom of the bag. It will definately keep you toastie warn is freezing weather. Other than being a bit bulky, I would highly recommend it. I must like this model, as I have purchased 4 of them!"
