For maximum warmth retention and ease of storage and packing, choose our Alaskan Guide Model™ Mummy bag. Tough breathable Pertex® ripstop nylon gives you a water-resistant and downproof shell with durability to last for years, and the 220T cotton liner fabric is as warm, soft and comfortable as your flannel sheets at home. Dual insulation technology keeps you warm and comfortable in frigid temperatures. Down holds heat most efficiently when allowed to loft, so we fill the top of the bag with 650 fill-power down. Thermolite® Extreme insulates most effectively under the compression of body weight, so we use it to stuff the bottom of the bag. Huge 3-D construction incorporates sidewalls to give you a roomy sleeping compartment that seals in warmth without the claustrophobic feeling common in most bags. Exclusive Nightsight™ drawcords let you cinch the fully enclosed hood and chest tubes independently in the dark to seal out icy breezes. Extra wide bands of ZipGlide™ fabric mean the self-cleaning No. 10 YKK® zipper won't snag on bulky draft tubes. Exterior valuables pocket stores important items. Includes a 100% waterproof roll top compression stuff bag for convenient transport. Imported.

Great Bag, great price,September 11, 2009
By JPfrom Gunnison, Colorado
"I love this bag! You do not have hot and cold spots in it, its warm and comfortable, and always stays at the perfect temp somehow, as compared with my 650$ Western Mountaineering. It's not super light and I wouldnt take it camping, but for everything else it's amazing. Can't say enough, especially for the price."

review of alaskan guide mummy bag,February 3, 2009
By mikehiiifrom chicago il
"i bought this bag to use on our annual winter camping trip in the midwest. we don't use tents and sleep under the stars. i bought the minus forty bag and was very satisfied with it--i had previously used a synthetic mummy bag that went down to 20 below but it was more than 20 yrs old and getting long in the tooth. the cabala bag was roomy and comfortable. we car camp on this trip so i did not backpack with it yet. at over 8lbs it will be on the heavy side for backpacking but a warm nite is worth a little extra weight. the bags contruction is excellent and i have always liked the idea of dual insulation with goose down on top and man-made materials on the bottom. temps on our trip ranged from 9 degrees to 20 with winds over 35 mph at times and i was toasty with light weight long underwear."

-40 mummy bag,November 8, 2008
By Kuntaofrom Ontario, Canada
"Sorry guys but this bag doesn't cut it. No way is it a minus 40 bag. I used it on a northern ontario moose hunting trip and froze. Although the weather was damp due to the fact we were close to water the temperatures never went below 0 degrees. Now perhaps if I wasn't use to such weather I could understand, but I live in northern ontario. If you plan to be out in temperatures much below 32 degrees, look at other bags"

Great Bag,October 23, 2008
By WhoKnewfrom Oregon
"Great bag. Very warm. I used this bag when the temp at night was in the low 30s and this bag performed as advertised. Zipper works well and the stuff sack is large enough that you do not have to fight to get the bag in."

Toasty Roasty yes indeed!,October 22, 2008
By cowgirltuff
"just got back from elk hunting in the back country in Wyoming spiking in, I used my Alaskan Guide Mummy bag for the first time. It was awsome!! I never got cold even when the wood stove burned out. Thats to say a lot as I am usually a chilly willy. It was everything it said it would be. I love the zippers they never got stuck once. The waterproof stuff sack was a saviour, as everyone elses bags got a little wet on the ride into camp, as we got lots of snow and some rain. Its roomy enough that I didn't get claustophobic in it at night. If I could change anything it would be to make it lighter, but I don't think its possible. When every pound counts it tends to be on the heavier side, but i say leave something else at home and keep the most awsome sleeping bag ever!! I loved it and will not leave for a hunting trip without it!"

alaskan guide -20 mummy bag,September 27, 2008
By mmangels22from San Mateo, CA
"Bought this sleeping bag with intention of never buying another bag. It was big enough for me and despite its size, managed to be pretty portable as well, as long as you stuff it in the compression sack. I was in 30 degree temps and the bag made me toasty warm, can't wait to try it in colder temps! I highly recommend this to anyone who is bigger and needs a bigger mummy bag, it will definently accomodate you! My only complaint is to make the sleeping bag itself waterproof! Other than that great product Cabelas!!!!"

Warm bag, a little heavy. Know your intended use.,September 22, 2008
By 83Toyotafrom Sacramento, CA
"I have the regular -20 Mummy model. Just used the bag for the first time in moderate temperatures (35-45F). I was backpacking the bag and the weight was definitely noticeable. But, when it was time for sleep the extra weight was welcome! If anything, it was a little to warm for this mild temperature. To start the night I would zipper all the way up and pull the drawcords on the hood and chest area. Sometime during the night I would unzip the bag about 1/4 of the way and relax the drawstrings as I was beginning to sweat! The drawstrings for the head and chest area were easy to use. The inside (neck area) tube has a velcro area by the zipper- sometimes it came undone easy, other times I had to struggle. This could be due to me not properly securing the velco? I slept without a tent and the exterior of the bag was wet due to the dew, but this did not seem to affect performance. A few minutes in the sun in the morning dried it right out! The bag was roomy enough even while rolling over (from right side to left side). Not to downplay this bag, but it is probably best for colder temperatures and when weight is not a concern."

Great product,July 7, 2008
By ElkhunterDB
"I have used other sleeping bags in the past and froze on elk hunts. This bag not only kept me warm but also has a well designed compression sack to keep the bag dry and small for the pack into camp. The only thing I found was on my particular bag I had no nightsight zipper cords that were advertised as part of it. Overall a great product!"

By CMDRYeagerfrom Soquel, CA
"This is a great bag. I was sleeping in the snow and I was perfectly warm, and when I went camping and it was warm outside all I did was zip down the zipper and I was perfectly comfortable. Be sure not to leave it in the backpacking case too long."

Alaskan Guide Mummy Bag,March 16, 2008
By 2fargonefrom Northern Illinois
"Don't even think twice about buying this bag! The construction is first rate. The interior is warm and cozy, not the cold, rough, nylon interiors of some bags. It's cut large enough in the mummy style that you can sleep on your side and not get cramped. The zippers are extra tough and don't snag in the material like most bags. The pocket on the top front is great for storing a small light to wake up in the dark with. Unbelieveably warm and versatile. Packs small(for it's size and features) and the compression sack that comes standard is very nice and waterproof. Heavier than backpacking bags, but won't let you down when the conditons worsen like they will. The cotton storage bag is a nice touch for when you put it in the closet. Used it several times in very cold weather and never regretted spending the money. The synthetic bottom insulation works as advertised even when compressed. Very durable...Very warm... Very Cabelas!"
