This oine is a winner,November 18, 2009
By chipmunktoofrom Oregon City, OR
"I bought one of these 1858 revolvers 20 years ago and the quality was just average. It needed some work to smooth it up.
The new one is excellent right out of the box. I don't know if I just got lukcy or if they are all this good. The action is smooth, it is timed correctly and the trigger pull is good. The quality over the years has improved a lot."

Excellent Value,November 17, 2009
By Rnighthawkfrom Maryland
"Excellent value for the Pietta 1858. Delivery was quick which is consistent for Cabela's. The revolver arrived well packed and oiled. Fit and finish are very good. No play in cylinder and it locks-up tight at full cock. Note: Check the tightness of the screws and nipples before each shooting session. Great as a cap and ball and a solid and convenient platform for the different conversion cylinders because of the top strap and ease of removing the cylinder."

Nice gun,November 11, 2009
By PLambfrom Moon Twp, Pennsylvania
"The only problem I had was the gun came with #11 nipples. It kept missfiring. I replaced the factory installed ones with #10 that I got at Cabela's, and have had no more problems. The gun is a lot of fun to shoot. If you have never had one it takes time to get used to it. I love it and plan to get another so I have a set."

Good Gun - Great Price,October 13, 2009
By Spooky2
"This is the second black powder pistol I've purchased from Cabela's. I am very pleased with both guns. The Remington was just what I expected. Metal finish was very good. The wood grips are ok. The stain on them is dull, but the fit to the frame is very good. The gun handels well, shots are very well grouped and high as the originals. I plan on adding more of Pietta's reproductions to my collection."

"There is nothing not to like about this suberb pistol. Fit and finish are flawless. Recoil is minimal for a 44 cal handgun. I am enjoying owning it."

in love,October 8, 2009
By flynch42
"i read to expect sharp edges on the trigger but couldn't see what everyone was talking about, the handle is somewhat small for my big hands but true to form, it was well oiled and rust free when it arived and shipping was super fast. the only flaw i saw was that they used an antiqued hammer when everything else was blued ( hey, what gives pietta?) besides that i have no complaints and i'll give it back when they pry it away from my lifeless form."

Pretty,October 7, 2009
By portrain001from Oregon
"Great Value and a very nice reproduction. I wanted to order it because I wanted to see which model I liked better, the 1858 Remy or the 1860 Colt. Both are fine representations. Personally I like the Colt 1860 best, but that's purely on aesthetics. They will be long treasured by me and passed on to grandchildren. How can you go wrong on either gun"

Superb Replica of Original,October 7, 2009

"Great pistol! Superb detail in comparison to original gun. An excellent shooter as well, typically a 12" shot group at 25m. Would recommend to anyone for an inexpensive starter in Black Powder shooting."

"This is my 3rd Pietta revolver from Cabelas, the quality is excellent for this price, I love beating modern day pistol shooters with these. Buy the spare parts kit, it is a deal if you have ever had to find aftermarket parts. I cant say enough about these pistols!"

Well pleased,September 30, 2009
By alwayspacknfrom Connecticut
"I bought this revolver on sale a short while ago and just came back from the range this afternoon. This is my 15th B.P. revolver, my 10th Pietta, and my first Pietta Remington. I bought this gun to antique, and use as a regular knock around range gun, and I am well pleased. On the plus side, you can't beat the price. Mine shoots dead on at 25 yards and if I do my part, fading eyesight and all, torso shots aren't a problem at 50 yards either. While its finish rivals the premier Italaian replica maker found on my other Remington, it does have a few hidden tool marks; not a problem as I intend to remove the finish anyway and the marks will actually be a plus. This is about the 12th blackpowder revolver that I have bought from Cabela's over the years and I have been pleased with all of them. If you want to buy a historical replica to collect or shoot I highly recommend Cabela's selection as their guns are just as good as others (in many cases Piettta revolvers are more accurate in the details than the OTHER Italian maker) and they are a lot less expensive."

1858 New Army,September 29, 2009
By LoudonRanger
"I use this pistol as a tool for Civil War cavalry reenactments. The workmanship is very nice, the operation is smooth, it works very well for what I use it for, and the price is right. I also ordered two extra cylinders for this weapon, both of which fit and operate perfectly.
Shipping was quick and I received the package days prior to the expected arrival date. This was my first online purchase from Cabelas and I am very satisfied."

The Joy of Shooting,September 28, 2009
By JB762from NC
"I received my Pistol and WoW what a beauty! We went to shoot it for the first time yesterday and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I used pellets rather than powder with a .454 and .451 ball. It is quite accurate. I'm not sure yet which size is best. There are resources on the Web for care and cleaning. Just search. A lot of fun. I'm sure I chose wisely with this one over the brass framed guns. And it's easier to take down than the 1860."

1858 New Army 44 8",September 14, 2009
By Dirty9from Michigan
"This was my first BP gun. I got it with the starter kit, 777, and #10 caps. I used 35g of powder. From the first shot, I was impressed with this gun. I put 120 rounds threw this gun, and did not have one problem. I own many weapons, but this is now my favorite! At 15yrds I was shooting 1.5" groups, and at 20yrds - 2" groups. This is not a lie, I wouldn't believe it if I didn't see it for myself. I will soon by another to have a set. This is a great gun, and you can't beat the price."
