Cabella's 1851 Colt Navy,April 27, 2009
By cimarron1971from Bradenton, Fl
"This is my first black powder pistol, but not my first Uberti/Pietta clone. I was impressed with the workmanship of the pistol, especially the wood to metal fit, and the grips themselves are superbly beautiful. The wood is not French Walnut, but reminiscent of it. Lines on the pistol are sleek and graceful; however, there are a few minor spots were minimal burring from machining is still present. There was one issue with the pistol that I did not favor, that being the barrel wedge. The barrel wedge on my pistol was so tight I could not remove it. This made disassembly of the pistol impossible. I contacted Cabelas and was given clear instructions as how to remedy the problem, and they told me if I wanted I could return the pistol and they would send me a new one. I did not want to wait so, I took my pistol to a local gun smith and in the matter of ten minutes he had the wedge out, polished and fitted perfectly. I paid the gunsmith $20 and was off to the range. Shooting the pistol is fun. Loading takes patience and attention to safety, but it gets easier the more you do it, each time being a little faster than the time before. The recoil of 20g of black power was surprisingly gentle, considering the momentous booming report and smoke produced by firing it. The pistol will turn heads at the range when you fire it! Just holding this revolver in your hand brings history to life."

Overall a Fun Gun to Shoot,September 23, 2008
By MIKEAcfrom Casper, WY
"This is the first cap and ball pistol I've shot. I was a bit intimidated by the whole procedure of loading the pistol. In addition to the instructions provided with the box, I also researched on the web how to do it. After fumbling through the first 6 loads I got the hang of it. The recoil is practically nonexistent, and it does shoot high as everyone says. It really brings home how they had to do it back in the 1800's and how easy we have it now."

"I was very pleased with this replica of a Civil War revolver. The workmanship was excellent! The overall quality was first class. The blue finish was beautifully done. The action is smooth and reliable. I am looking forward to shooting it soon. Cabelas price for a gun of this quality was an incredible bargain. Many thanks!"

Uberti 1851 Navy,February 20, 2008
By Sportourfrom Portland OR
"I recently purchased this Uberti clone of the Colt Model 1851 Navy. I'm impressed with the quality of the workmanship. The weather has been too lousy to get out and shoot it but even without making smoke and fire it is a great addition to my collection."

1851 Navy 36 cal.,October 22, 2007
By bklyn11234from Nothern Virginia,
"I found the revolver to be a handsome piece, however there was a blemish high on the brass mid rib between the wooden grips. In addition the wooden grips were not well crafted and didn't blend with the lines of the of mid rib. I think the workmanship should be better than I recieved, and I returned the revolver to be exchanged, which I hope will be of a highter quality, If the new revolver is an improvement I would recommend it to a friend Thank you for the opportunity to comment of the product,"

Good First Time With Cabela's,August 13, 2007
By Onaway417from California
"Being my first time ordering from Cabela's, I thought I would offer up some thoughts. First, I had a question about the revolver I ordered. Cabela's was quick to respond. Pretty nice considering that often times, online retailers don't answer that quickly. They answered my question the day after I posted it. Second, my ordered was filled in a decent amount of time from time of placement. Third, the item came exactly on time. I really appreciate on-time delivery. As for the revolver itself, I have to say that I was very impressed. This is my first BP revolver, so I don't have anything to really compare it to, but it seems to be very nice. The fit and finish is really good, and the accessory pack that came with it looks like it will get me started. For the price, I would say this is an above average value. I haven't been out to shoot it yet, but that should be remedied this weekend."

1851 Navy Revolver .36 cal, with Starter Kit,April 30, 2007
By Seattlepauliefrom IN the West, Though not the "Old" one! Bend, OR.
"The pistol came with the trigger positioned slightly off to one side, instead of in the middle. When held in the firing position it was a bit to the left of center. However, as I am a right handed person it helped reduce my tendency to "pull" to the right as I squeeze the trigger. So it was no problem. The only problem I had was with the CAP Tool (Loader) The tool seems to be made for a Cap size larger than the ones I use (#10) therefore when filling the Cap tool-loader some of the caps fell sideways inside and were then unable to be put on the Nipples of the pistol. Also, the loading end of the Tool itself is TOO long to easily slide a Cap onto the nipple. The end of the tool hits the indentation in the pistol, or in other words the pistol itself, Before the cap is completely over the nipple. I found it was actually easier to HAND FIT the caps on the nipples, though it gets more difficult as the fingers lose some sensitivity after firing for an hour! Overall I found this to be a very satisfactory Replica with "Sights" that I find to be more accurate than one would expect with such an Authentic style. And though some might think the barrel a bit on the heavy side it helps guite a bit on accuracy as well as recoil when firing on the UPPER end of the recommended powder load(s). Pistol- 5 stars, Sarter Kit 3! stars"
