"Matches the Civil War belt perfectly and looks authentic for the period. It fits my 1861 army single action just right. My Ruger single-six in it and it fits too although the barrel is shorter and doesn't need such a long holster. I bought a right hand model and slotted it to hold it in a tilted position so i can wear it crossdraw when riding."

"I bought this holster at the same time as I bought my 1858 Stainless revolver. I was unsure as to which holster would work best, so I contacted Cabelas' customer service, and asked. Those guys sure know their products. This holster was recommended, and I am sure glad it was. The pistol fits like a glove inside this holster. I did a little modification to it. I trimmed a little leather away from the trigger guard area, so the pistol would go a little further into the holster, and took a piece of leather, and about 15 minutes, and made a leg tie down, and a hammer strap. Thanks Cabelas, keep up the good work. You wont be sorry you purchased this holster.

"This is the second holster of the same type that I purchased from Cabelas; the first one I purchased several years ago. This new one is of highter quality for the same price. Could be the same manufacturer, but it has Cabelas name stamped on it (to the rear so you can not see it) It appears to be a heavier leather and is stiffer, holding its shape much better. If you want a smiple, authentic, and inexpensive holster for your black powder revolver, this is an excellent buy. This is not a quick draw rig, but of a design that was available in the 1860's from a catalog or hardware store, similar to what a cowboy might have purchased."

"This is an extremely well made holster for the price. The leather is substantial and looks great. I've owned it for several years and all it needs is a piece of twine or leather shoestring to tie it around your leg to keep it in place while drawing."

"Got this holster because it was a bit cheaper and looked better to me than the others. I was so right! It seems to be a slightly brighter red than shown in the picture. But for the price it is amazingly nice and I do indeed love it, only thing it lacks is a strip keeping the revolver from falling out everywhere, but this may not be a problem, since my 1851 Navy fits perfect inside. WELL DONE LOL"

"This holster fits my 36 caliber 1851 Navy perfect. It fits up to 8 inch barrels and has an opening at the bottom. The back of the holster fits about a little over 3 inch gunbelts. The straps on the back are not too sturdy but its good enough for my 3 and 1/4 inch gunbelt. The holster has solid leather material. Definitely a great revolver holster. Even if you don't like it you can't beat the price. A must buy!"

"" At the time I placed a order for two of these holsters, base on past experience with Cabela's leather products. Upon arrival, I was not disappointed. This holster is well made using heavy leather, and is a solid holster.
It would have been nice to have a hammer rawhide loop tie for securement and not to have brass snaps but instead a sewn loop. A rawhide loop could be added with out much of a problem. Caution though about the snaps they could come undone when in the field.
This holster fit my 1858 Remington nicely, and as for the fit of a 1851 it appears a little big for the 1851, some trimming and adjustment will have to be made to make a good fit.
Overall, its is a good value for the money. But due to the lacking of a rawhide hammer loop and oversize fit for the 1851 I can only give 4 stars.... ""
