GREAT BOOTS EXCEPT FOR THE EYELETS,February 11, 2009
By WNTRHUNTERfrom Douglas, MA
"The boots are great. Very rugged, comfortable, and warm. My only concern is that the eyelets cut into the laces. I had the lace on one boot break after only the eighth time I wore them and the lace on the other boot is ready to break. Fortunately the lace broke when I first put it on for the day. If it had let go while I was on the trail, it would have been a finger numbing experience tying a knot."

Cabela's Polar Cap Boot,February 9, 2009
By NHJAfrom New Hampshire
"Recently purchased the Polar Cap Pac Boot for a trip to Mount Tremblant. Great Boot! First, the sizing runs large. I have a wide foot and wear a men's 9-9.5. I had to return a size 9 for 8's; there was nearly two plus inches of room in the front and the heel slid up and down in the boot. Once I received a smaller size, they felt snug at first, but settled in nicely. If I were making modifications to this boot I would make larger lace eyelets that are stronger, and provide thicker laces. The laces that come with the boot are way too thin. I immediately replaced them for thick waxed laces that hold their tightness when tying. Second, I would seal the inside where the leather upper boot is sewed to the rubber base for more complete waterproofing. Look inside a pair of Sorel Caribou boots to see what I am referring to. I solved this with some 100% Silicone sealant (aquarium use) and sealed a 3 inch area that overlapped the rubber base and the leather upper. Third, I would make the faux fur ruff at the top of the liner more reinforced and a bit fuller. Small fur pieces pull off when removing/replacing the liners. Finally, although the 13mm raised footbed is great at reducing cold from frozen ground, I would add a Honeycomb footbed insert (as used in Baffin Polar Expedition Boots) used to allow moisture to dissipate away from the liner of the boot.
With a little modification I think a great boot could become even better! I never felt cold in the -50 degree weather, and they functioned great while dog sledding."

Toasty Warm!!,February 4, 2009
By NewsGuyfrom Grand Rapids, MI
"I'm a News Photographer who sometimes spends several hours outside. During a recent cold blast here in West Michigan I was outside continually (and moving very little) for more than an hour during sub-zero (5-10 below) wind chills. I was surprised to find my feet still toasty warm! Not just tolerable, not just kind of warm, but TOASTY warm!!
These boots are clearly made for the extreme cold. They're also easier to walk in than you'd think for a boot this bulky. They're a lot of boot for the money! (Well worth every penny I spent!)"

These boots Rock!,January 27, 2009
By MarktheMedicfrom Northern Indiana
"I bought these pac boots after Christmas( waiting on a deal). Since buying them , we have had a brutal winter here in Indiana. At first I thought they were a little cramped on the top of my feet. That lasted about 10 minutes of walking in my house. Since then,I have been ice fishing in 10 degree conditions, and my feet have been comfortable beyond belief. Light socks are all I have worn. They are heavy, but that is a small trade to have warm feet in cold conditions. Thanks Cabelas!!"

Run REALLY big, but a great boot.,January 27, 2009
By topoftherockiesfrom Breckenridge, CO
"These are definitely the warmest boots I have ever owned. I have a circulation issue that causes my extremities to get cold quickly and I have not had any issues while wearing these boots at the top of the Rocky Mountains where I live. I was also concerned that these boots would be too warm to wear in warmer conditions but I have worn them inside for 2-3 hours without getting my feet as sweaty as they are in my slippers right now. To address fitting, I am usually a Nike 12.5 so I ordered a size 12 in these boots. They were way too big, 3/4 of an inch too big. I was a 13 on the printable size chart Cabelas offers but I ended up getting a good fit out of a size 10 in these boots. I prefer a snug fit like a snowboard boot and think these will pack in a little over time."

Polar Caps are hot! (literally),January 26, 2009
By dpr03from Spokane, Washington
"After owning several pairs of brand name pac boots I decided to try the Cabela's Polar Cap Pacs. I ordered the boots in a size 10 and after recieving the boots found them to run about 1/2-size large. I felt like l was wearing two rubber life rafts on my feet! The Cabela's return policy was a breeze and in a few days my size 9's arrived. Perfect fit! The only problem I may have with these boots is finding anywhere in North America that is cold enough to test these things. The rest of your body will freeze solid before your feet will in these boots. Well made, reasonable price and super warm."

Winter Pac's,January 26, 2009
By rickb846from Livingston, Montana
"I have worn Sorrel Pacs for years and find these boots better in quality than the Sorrel's. The liners are excellent along with the leather and workmanship in the boots. Very good crafted boot that is built to last. This is what I wanted in a boot. Rick Montana Resident"

as good as advertised,January 8, 2009
By utahidahocamperfrom Garland, UT
"For the last twelve years I've been wearing Sorel Cariboo pack boots, and absolutely loved them. I bought them a bit too big, and my dog chewed one up, or I'd still be using them. I decided to try a different pac boot and the Polar Caps seemed what I wanted. The boots are a bit bulkier than my Sorels, but they fit my narrow feet better. There seems to be more lining in them, and they are warm and snug. My feet don't even think of getting cold in them, especially when I'm active. I havn't done any long standing or sitting to see how they do without activity. I like the fit of the boot up the leg better on these as well, the four rings on the Sorels never made them as tight on my leg as I would have liked. Last of all, even though my feet feel warm, these boots really do wisk away my sweat. My socks stay dry and my feet don't get cold.
Loved my Sorels, Really love my Polar Pacs."

I dont know how I ever lived without these!!!,January 7, 2009
By JoshuaCfrom NE PA
"These boots are the only pair I have ever owned that have kept my feet warm in very cold temperatures. I have had many other boots rated down to -50, -100, and even -125, but none of them were ever warm enough to possibly keep feet warm in even -20 temperatures unless I was walking briskly or running. These boots are a whole new beast though and finally my feet are warm. Without doubt these boots would keep me warm in temperatures far lower than I will ever see, even if I was just standing in the same spot for hours and thats what is required in boots like this. Additionally, these boots are very comfortable, they feel just like wearing my favorite pair of slippers.
The only words of caution I have are that you should not attempt to wear these boots in temperatures above +25, or your feet will sweat a lot. Additionally, the only weak point I've found in these boots appear to be the laces which seem a little thin, but I have yet to damage them at all."
