    amazing, November 3, 2009
    By Kdogger

"the duck plucker I purchased is AMAZING on marsh ducks, divers and brant geese.
I would have given it 5 stars, however, it is not very good on canada geese.
But any ducks I've used it on is AMAZING.
    Highly recomended for "duck" hunters.

    Extremely disappointing…, February 1, 2009
    By BRDSLYR from NorCal

    "Extremely disappointing…
I gave this thing a more then fair shot at proving itself to me and can honestly say, beware.
I bought the Deluxe Plucker Pack ( 12 volt motor, car power jack complete with extra AC inverter so you could use it at home and the wooden platform ) after doing a fair amount of research online. I also read some of these Cabela’s reviews that looked mixed. After I saw a few YouTube video’s of people using the thing ( one particular on a widgeon) it looked like it worked great so I went for it. I could hardly wait to use it. I’m sorry that I bought it.
I have tried to use it on Widgeon, Sprig, Mallard, Teal, Gadwall, Ringneck ducks and geese. Each time it was a complete and utter failure either not working at all or me leaning on it and ending up grinding into the duck flesh and fat with no feathers removed. At first I thought it as due to the fact that the rubber fingers were too cold and as such did not have good gripping ability. I then tried to toss the wheel with the fingers on the dashboard of my car and turned on the defrost to heat them up prior to use. No help. Then I tried different ways going with the grain then against the grain then cross grain, all no help. I then went back to YouTube and paid closer attention the video’s that I had seen.
As far as I can tell, the biggest difference between what I had seen online and experienced personally was that the ducks that I saw successfully plucked online using the Plucker were dry. BONE DRY. My birds were not. Its not like my birds were laying in the bottom of an ice chest soaked or anything, just not bone dry. They do call them waterfowl for a reason you know…I tried to towel dry them to give the Plucker another shot and felt the birds I tried were pretty darn dry. Unfortunately, they were not bone dry, so it still did not work right. Now, I suppose if I had hung them for a few days in the garage next to the dryer, or hit them with a hair dryer prior to plucking it would have worked. You may even want to throw them into the drier if your wife is not looking and blame it on the kids. Perhaps you have a clubhouse you could hang them at and pluck them in a few days. I pluck my birds the same day I shoot and don’t have a clubhouse in the field so that would not work for me…
I hunt waterfowl in the marsh with decoys and the birds I shoot typically land in the water. I retrieve them right away and strap em up but they are damp. I guess if you hunt dry fields or do a fair amount of pass shooting from a road someplace you may shoot a bone dry duck. I never have.
Even if you try it on a dry duck I can’t guarantee you that it will work …. I have never tried it on a bone dry duck.

    duck plucker, December 26, 2008

"The fingers are too tough for the ducks, it will rip the duck breast. It does the same to all size ducks -- teal, mallard, or greys."

    WONDERFUL!!!!!, December 1, 2008
    By hexnd311 from Lafayette, LA

"This is the best gift to give any hunter. It was a gift to my boyfriend for his birthday and he loves it. It took a few minutes to get the skill down but now that we've learned the machine, it works awesome and only takes a few minutes for each bird. Wet birds and smaller birds (teal) are harder to pluck though so be careful. We haven't tried it on geese yet but i can't wait to try it on them!!! THANK YOU."

Not for me, November 28, 2008
    By flytie3 from NY

"Perhaps this will work on ducks. However it eats up pheasants. If you scald the Pheasnts it might be OK. This done in the kitchen would leave me homeless.Better stick with skining them outside."

    Great Product, November 19, 2008

    Delux Plucker, November 18, 2008
    By Davgeo from Houston, Texas

    "11/18/08

Not too impressed. This cleaned brease & partially the back.

Not good on the wing feathers. Had to do the wing feathers by hand. Probable need to tie the duck down on a plank.
Makes a mess. Need to spread out paper.

Finish 3rd duck by hand. Same time involved.

    Feathers everywhere!, March 2, 2008
    By looneyloader from California.

"Brought the kit with the motor. Works as advertised if used correctly. The feathers must be dry (I tried it wet and trust me, it didn't work). You do have to watch what you're doing because you will start melting the fat if you keep it in one place for too long. You definitely want to run this puppy outside in a place where you don't mind the feathers and down blowing all over the place."

    duck feathers, February 8, 2008
By NB85 from I live on Martha's Vineyard Island off Cape Cod

"I shot my first duck, a blackie, more than 70 years ago, so have been picking them for quite a while. I use your duck plucker with an old quarter-inch electric hand drill that I clamped to a board which is in turn clamped to an outdoors work table that is part of my work shed. It works very well...
takes me about three minutes to pluck a mallard. One piece of advice for those who use this plucker is to use it outside where down and feathers scattered about are no problem. It's also a good idea to avoid wearing clothing to which down and feathers cling.

    Excellent product, December 25, 2007
By TomFL from Palm City, FL

"Just recieved a drill mounted one for Xmas, and had a duck and some snipe to pluck from this morning. Honestly to do it right with the drill mounted one you need two people, one to hold the drill and one to hold and move/position the duck. The plucker works effortlessly, taking out all the down and outer feathers on the entire duck except for the large feathers directly above and behind the wing, and the large tail feathers. What you are left with after a 3-4 minute plucking session is less than one minute of hand finishing for a perfectly naked duck, ready to cook. Tried it on the snipe and it was a no-go, as the rubber feet easily tore through the skin and thrashed the breast meat. I would HIGHLY reccomend this to anyone who is tired of hand-plucking their ducks (and who isn't?)."

    destroyed drill, November 5, 2007
    By dsviohp

"I used it to pluck ten muscovie ducks, on the last duck my drill gave out. To much strain on the motor. It didn't remove all the feathers and left lots of feather stubs in the bird, but it was much easier than hand plucking and I don't know of any other affordable prouduct that can do a better job."

    Duck Plucker, October 31, 2007
By Anonymous from Toronto, Ontario, Canada

"We took the plucker in our boat and out to the blind last week.... as we harvested a few mallards and geese we decided to clean them in between shots. The battery attachment worked great, plucking the mallards were awesome, however, plucking the geese did not work out as well (even though we followed the instructions) The other issues were that the on/off switch in the unit is faulty and the breaker kept popping. You should also concider a clamping system for the board provided, it was hard holding on to the unit while trying to pluck( I had brought one clamp to secure to the bench in our blind) We had only plucked two mallards and 2 geese! My problem is we shoot more Canada geese than anyting else. I would highly recommend for duck cleaning!"

    Not Useable, July 31, 2007
By FarmerRandy from East Troy, WI

    "I
purchased the Deluxe Pluker to pluck a couple dozen chickens, and found
it to be so poor in performance that I ended up plucking them all by
hand, and taking the pin feathers out with a tweezers. I would not
waste your money on this product, you will be very disappointed.
