"These cylinders, if they don't meet factory specs there real close, are an excellent product. They fit my 44 caliber black powder pistol like OEM cylinders."

Superb workmanship,September 3, 2009
By BlackPowderShooterfrom Ohio
"My spare cylinder arrived and it is perfect. There have been times when purshasing a spare cylinder from other suppliers that I was left with in inferior piece of work. No so in this case. It definitely met the standards of the firearm and speaks well about the company and Cabelas choice of who to select as suppliers. Thank you"

1858 New Army Spare Cyllinder, Glad I got it!,June 16, 2009
By jdm22from Love Black Powder Guns. Huntingdon, PA
"I purchased this spare cylinder for my 1858 New Army Case Hardened Revolver. It fit and functions perfectly.
It's great to have the second cylinder. Having spare cylinders loaded makes shooting time more fun. Changing the cylinders is faster than I imagined it could be. I had read that changing cylinders was easy, really it's a "snap" with very little practice. I'm getting old and my dexterity is not so good and it still is easy.
If you have a Cabela's Black Powder Revolver buy a spare cylinder, you'll never regret it... in fact, you'll love it.
If you don't have a Black Powder Revolver, BUY ONE!
If you don't think you want a Black Powder Revolver, then buy a spare cylinder anyway... They're just fun to have. They make great pets.
Seriously, you won't regret getting one of these."

1858 Remington,March 2, 2009
By LZHomefrom Molino, FL
"Don't know why it took me so long to get my first BP firearm but mys '58 Remington New Army is a GREAT piece of work. This is a quality revolver with one exception is that it had a few share edges. I took care of that in short order. This is an ecellent buy and I would highly recommend getting one..or two. I am amaed at the quality of the finish--it really is too perfect and I'm looking forward to getting some wear marks on it. Now for the caps--I have read a lot of different reviews on what caps to use here is what works for me. CCI #11 are a little large but can be criped a little and work well but the CCI #10 are a perfit fit and work very good. I have not tried any others so I'll be sticking with CCI #10s. I got the started kit and all was good except the powder flask which I replaced with a brass field model. The .451 ball shot okay but I'll be shooting .454 at my next range trip for comparison. I'll be getting another BP revolver from Cabela's very soon. Thanks Cabela's for stocking the Pieta line of BP revolvers and at a great price. Oh, get a spare cylinder too, you can't touch this price anywhere else."

perfect,February 17, 2009
By cagey1from San Ysidro,Ca.
"I had been wanting a spare cylinder for my 1858 Army, and when I found it at Cabela's,I decided to buy it.When it came,it was the same maker as the revolver and the finish was exactly the same as the gun, which pleased me no end. The cylinder was a drop-in fit and indexed prefectly. The cylinder bores miked exactly at .451,as they should be.Overall,I could not be more pleased at the quality and the price.Other revolvers may fit differently, but for mine,it's just perfect !"

Lack of concern for end users.,December 30, 2008
By TribalSteelfrom Northern Ca.
"This product's useability is essentially a "go, no go" proposition. It either works or does not work. The several I have purchased, have all worked fine. The rub however, is the other characteristic, all have shared. The lunatic who tightens the percussion cones (i.e; nipples) before shipping, ruins a good thing. If you have ever tried to remove a car wheel, to fix a flat etc; after some grease monkey has used an air hammer, to weld lug nuts to the hub, you have experience, with the problem. Eventually the cones must be removed for servicing, and you're foolish, if you do not use anti seize or Teflon tape on the threads before their first use. Seems to me, the smart way, is to never install the cones before the consumer purchase. At the very least, Cabelas could loosen these up before they leave the warehouse. Of course they might cost additional sales on nipple wrenches, none of which are very sturdy and usually break before all 6 nipples can be removed. The aftermarket desperately needs an affordable, high quality (non-brittle) cone wrench."

Remember, It's for a PIETTA Pistol,September 20, 2008
By Anonymous
"The cylinder will not fit any pistol other than one made and clearly stamped PIETTA. It won't fit Ubertii, Traditions, Armi San Marco (ASM) pistols. OK, you can make it fit an Uberti but it will require work generally not in the realm of the garage mechanic. That said, I've purchased an extra cylinder for three Pietta 1858 Remingtons and they work perfectly and are all finished nicely."
