"This is very easy to use tool. Its easy to clean. Easy to disassemble. It has a good instruction booklet. Downside is its heavy and takes a lot of pressure stuff links. This stuffer will last a lifetime."

"Was excited about this item...especially since it was on sale. Once it arrived I put it together and couldn’t even get the mechanism to work without anything in it. The inside cylinder is slightly deformed and the plunger does not hold the seal during the trip through it (for the distance I could even get it to travel). Called Customer service at Cabela’s (who were very nice by the way) and described the problem. They looked in the “customer notes” for this product and told me it was notorious for problems. Immediately repacked the item and it is on its way back to them. Save yourself the hassle and pick a different stuffer."

"Works fine, but you have to mount it firmly to a bench or a board, as it takes some force to push the meat through the stuffer. I found it helps quite a bit if you add COLD water to the meat mix to make the meat softer, allowing it to push through easier. Over all....it works fine."

"As others have said, the stuffer is decent for full size sausage, but almost impossible to use for smaller casing sizes like beef sticks or pepperoni. I should have saved up and bought a vertical stuffer in the first place."

"I bought this stuffer in the bargain cave. Boy, was I glad I didn't pay full retail. This is the worst purchase I have ever made from Cabela's. Even with extra water added to the mixture it was darn near impossible to get the meat to feed through the tube. I am 6' 1" and nearly 300 pounds and it took all the strength I had to get this thing to work. My advice to you is to spend the extra money and buy the 11 pound stand-up stuffer with the crank handle. You'll be way happier with the performance."

"I agree with what most people have already said. The smaller tubes are almost impossible to use, even with extra water added to the meat mixture. You have to a weight lifter to full the pepperoni snack stick casings. I had to give up after about 24" of production. The middle tube is much easier to full with but still very difficult. Haven't tried the large tube yet but it should be better. The handle needs cushioning of some type and a longer handle for leverage. The stuffer is very hard to use when full and gets a lot easier when only 1/3 full. This makes it a real pain when you can only fill it with 1lb at a time. What is most disappointing is the leakage through the seal back into the reservoir side. This stuffer needs to be mounted on the floor and used by two people. One to push down on the handle and one to feed the hopper and feed out the casing."

"Does a terrible job if you try to stuff using the 19mm tube, more meat blows by the seal than goes out the tube. Sealing plate wears out, chunks are left in meat. It took all my weight to get meat thru 19mm tube, I had to use an extension bar to get enough leverage. When stuffing summer sausage it worked OK but seal is bad and I will be taking it back."

"My recommedation is that for the money this stuffer is hard to beat. I made a batch of summer sausage (20 lbs), and I can't imagine doing that job without a sausage stuffer. I was stuffing 2 5/8" diameter skins, and the press worked fine. I noticed that some reviewers had trouble with the mechanical effort it required and I think their primary problem was the amount of moisture they had in the meat. I was working with a venison kit and it called for a lot more water than I would have guessed. I think if you are having problems, then add more water until the mixture flows smoothly. I haven't mounted mine on a board yet, but I intend to do that, and that should make the whole process even more efficient."

"this stuffer worked very well for me, but the handle could use some foam or rubber where you push down on. We also removed the rubber disc because it made it too hard to push. the stuffing ended up coming out the top, but was easier to push. Maybe the disc could be a bit smaller. This was alot quieter than my grinder that is also a stuffer."

"The Cast Iron Sausage Stuffer has made my sausage stuffing a half-hour event rather than a 4-hour fight with the grinder. The hopper holds enough meat to fill half (or more) of a hog casing, and it works like a charm--almost. The compression arm needs about 12-18" of length added to provide sufficient leverage to avoid having to lean on the stuffer to fill the casing. To solve the lack of leverage, I simply slip a piece of 1" pipe over the end, and voila, 20 pounds of bratwurst in about 20 minutes!"
