"At this time I have only used this smoker three times and have really enjoyed it. I have smoked fresh Alaskan, Silver Salmon on two occasion, they were great, however the top rack works best for smoking. I also grilled some chicken breast they also turned out great. Give this smoker a try. I used oak chips in the tray."

"As other reviewers have explained, the amount of space between the charcoal pan and water pan is minimal but by raising the water pan it provides ample room to add more charcoal or wood chips. I used the lower grill mounting brackets for the water pan and placed the lower grill directly on the water pan. The ignitor melted into a pile of plastic within the first 10 minutes of use. A long tipped lighter is all I need for initial lighting of the propane burner. I use the burner for about the first 45-60 minutes then allow the charcoal/wood chips to maintain 225-240 degrees. Great results."

"I use this cooker primarily for pressure canning, scalding chickens, and processing other foods. I have also used it for its intended purpose as a grill. The instructions were written by somebody who has actually put the cooker together, so assembly was very simple. It is easy to use and store, and is very portable. The flame produces a great amount of heat and does not use a lot of propane- a big bonus, and the flame is highly adjustable allowing for a wide range of cooking temperatures.
A great product, and I am glad I bought it."

"This is an easy to assemble and use product. Because I can control the heat better and faster then my electric smoker I can get more smoke flavor during the first 20 minutes then cool down the heat for the slow cooking that makes meat so tender. "I owned one of these before I got married when I lived in Iowa. It was so popular with my neighbors, co-workers and my family I would have to smoke 15-20 turkeys and ~ 100-150 pounds of salmon every year at Christmas. Had to leave it behind when I relocated to Colorado (my wife/ex wife nor her family didn't like smoked meats!) and I truly missed it. I have since ordered another and can't wait for it to arrive. Would reccomend not purchasing the electric version as the heating element lasted only 6 mos. I upgraded to propane and loved it. I smoked pork butt, tenderloin, steaks, ham, chops, brisket, deer meat, turkey, most fish, shrimp, and pheasant. All came out so tender it fell off the bone or fell apart on it's own. Fryer worked great for clams, chicken, shrimp, and fish. Only complaint is water basin sits too low and can't add more wood to the fire later."

"I use this cooker on our camping/Rv trips. I was looking for something to replace the many cooking equipment we were loading for camping/RV trips. This 7-1 cooker fitted that task. Easy to set up, and use. The two removable tier cooking racks, lets you cook more items at one time. The powered coated surface ok, but I think I should have opted for the stainless steal model! I highly recommend this item!"

"I got this as a Christmas present and have been very happy with this smoker. I have smoked several meats and some salmon and all were very tasty.
My only complaint is that the water bowl sits too close to the wood box so it is difficult to get wood into the burner thru the access door after your first batch burns down. Large chunks will not go in at all w/o removing the whole water bowl first. The one solution to this is to just set the water bowl on the bottom rack if you are not using it for food and you will have plenty of space to add more wood chunks. If you are using the bottom rack for food then you have the problem of not having enough space to add more chunks thru the door.
Overall though I think this is a great and so far, reliable product."

"Putting this smoker together is not difficult to do if you can follow instructions. It took me about 45 minutes to assemble the unit. I'm planning on smoking a brisket tomorrow so I tested it out today without any meat to season the cooker. The only two problems I have found is that there is not enough room between the charcoal and water trays. And there is no vent control of any sort for the charcoal tray. No vent = no air = difficult to control the burn of the charcoal. It is a nice unit overall though. MDMF 09'"
