"Overall, I love this smoker/cooker combo. The stainless makes it very easy to clean up. However, after only a couple of seasons in which I used the charcoal smoker combination, the bottom part of the smoker rusted thru (the part that holds the charcoal). I did not expect this to happen so soon, but I knew it eventually would. I am trying to see if I can purchase a new bottom section for this smoker because I really do like it except for it burning out so soon."

"I just wanted to take a little time to let you know how much I like the new stainless steel smoker I got through Cabala's this past week. I have owner a verity of smokers over the last thirty years and this is by far the best constructed appliance I have ever seen. I looked at this in the magazine for a year and I am kicking myself now for not getting it a year ago. I love meat smoked with a lot of hickory, and you can really pack the flavor into meat with this. I used it the first time yesterday even though the weather condition were not idea, 50 degrees and windy. I placed it beside my wood pile and in three hours I had two large chickens and a lot of ribs smoked perfectly with ideal internal temperature. I can't wait to smoke some turkeys and hams. This is a great smoker. Auburn, IN 46706"

"Have owned this for 1 year, used 3 times. good smoker. however, the bottom portion of the smoker is splitting on all sides. The splits are about 2 inches long. I am very disappointed with this and will be returnig the smoker to Cabelas. I spent to much money for the sides to be splitting. Anyone else having this problem?"

"I love this thing! I had different unit and and it rusted out, so I wanted stainless this time. Easy assembly, quick to have up and running, and EASY cleanup - just wipe it down. Cooks well with all of the different options that come with the unit, and nice even control of heat. Just wish that the fish fryer pot was taller.. Quality parts; quality unit. Recommend! A+++"

"Produces an excellent finished product. Everything from smoked salmon to bbq spareribs. Easily sets up and breaks down for easy cleaning and storage. Temperature control is great when cooking with gas. Door for the wood tray is too small to effectively get the wood into a more equal position within the tray. If you get this unit, get the smoke jacket as well. There are several areas that smoke can escape and reduce the temperature. In breazy conditions consider a wind break. This is a fantastic product that I will use for years to come. Solid construction."

"Pros: Great at smoking ribs and using to grill steaks. Smoked both St.Louis ribs and baby back ribs and wow they were good. Easy assembly and in no time smoking. Cons: When using propane can not turn it down low or slight breeze will put out flame. Also, very very difficult to only smoke with charcoal. Reason is, you can only add one piece of charcoal at a time into tiny opening under water pan. Only so many pieces will fit eventually. I have found you have to either use all propane or charcoal and propane to maintain temps. Because of this I got frustrated and took it back to Cabelas for a refund. Purchased a masterbuilt grill with side-box smoker. Smokes and grills just as well and easy to add more charcoal at about $50.00 less for the whole unit."

"For being labeled PREMIUM STAINLESS STEEL, you expect the Cooker to look good at least through spring and summer, if not longer. We have rust forming around fittings for all handles and the burner after only 7 weeks of grilling use. (used once each week) We live in the country, not at the beach-no extra environmental stress."

"Read reviews on most smokers. Decided to go with this one for versatility (gas & charcoal) and portability. Unit was easily assembled in short order. Center barrel section does not seat perfectly and loses smoke, but I strapped it down and solved the problem. Maintaining temp can be a little tricky, but I suspect most gas/charcoal smokers are as well. My first attempt resulted in ribs and tenderloin that was a little dry, but excellent tasting, subject to a learning curve. My second attempt was a total success! Best tasting, moistest turkey I ever ate, truely. Will recommemd to others."

"I have been very pleased with the unit I purchased from Cabelas. I had two warranty issues that were taken care of in a very timely manor. One by Cabelas & the other by MasterBuilt. It seems Cabelas has an exclusive on this unit and Specs the Igniter but MasterBuilt Quit putting them in their units a couple of years ago. Regardless, Cabelas would have shipped an entire new unit for me to have the ability to remove the igniter and return the unit at their expense. This was not necessary and then the Regulator had too little control and seemed to free spin in adjustment. That was sent from Masterbuilt and both problems were resolved. The unit does have Painted legs for the smoker and I have endeavored to ask by email to purchase Stainless legs at an extra charge but it appears the request has been lost or avoided after a couple of weeks. I do not understand the leggs not being Stainless if one would pay extra for Stainless. Go Figure! The food is excellent from this unit and IMOHO it beats any food from a gas Grill. The Charcoal unit using a chimney for lighting Natural Wood as opposed to Briquets & rather than chemicals, results in a food taste that you must try to really appreciate the difference. This unit, although Stainless is not the thickest of guages in metal, but I suppose I can live with that."

"Previous to owning this smoker I owned an electric model similar to this one. The problem I had with the electric version the heating element never got very hot so this time I decided to try propane for better control.
This model can produce a lot more heat than the electric version I had but it has a hard time reaching 200 degrees if it is cold or windy outside.
When smoking with it in the hot summer you have to keep the the burner turned down to allow meats to slow cook. However, the burner is prone to blowing out when it is turned down low.
You have to keep monitoring the food regularely while you are smoking it because it is difficult to get it to maintain a constant temperature.
All in all it is a good unit if you don't mind babysitting it and don't use it in cold weather.
I purchased Cabela's turkey frying kit and have used it with this burner. The burner works great for it."

"Having dealt with these type of smokers for sometime, I found the stainless smoker far superior than what I used in the past. Putting it together took about 30 minutes which was not bad for the amount of pieces. The directions ( with the exception of the ignitor ) where easily read although not needed to complete the set up. Once you know what screws are for what it's easy. This grill heats up fast, holds the heat at a more consistent rate and made it possible I could actually turn the gas off for periods of time and keep cooking at the same temp. The unit is fairly easy to move around and I liked the temp. guage due to the fact it is actually in degrees and not just warm, hot etc. The door also makes it nice to add chips and I used a small garden shoven to add the chips. The ignitor will bolt to the bottom of the plate that you bolt the burner to and the wire will penetrate the plate. Adjust the ignitor wire so it is just off and to the side of the burner and it will work great. One click and your cooking. I will be buying one of these for a house warming gift for a freind that also was impressed with how it worked. Enjoy!!"

"I been cooking on grills for over 30 years and this is the absolute best, most versatile grill/smoker that I have ever used. We bought it just about 4 years ago and I have put it through the paces. We cook on this grill nearly 4 out of 7 days Spring thru Fall. I've smoked turkeys, hams, ribs, pork loins, chops, chickens (4 of them at once), and even jerky. Grilled with gas and charcoal, everything from shrimp to burgers, and by the way I love the extra tall option on the middle collar, no more burnt burgers or brats from flair ups. You get the most beautifully browned Brats with the high collar on. It acts like a convection oven with a Hickory smoke kicker. We also bought the turkey fryer pot and have done Deep fryed chickens and turkeys and we've even did a "Frogmore Stew" for 30 people, all you "Low Country" fans you know what I'm talking about. I've grilled burgers and brats for groups of 20+ on this grill for picnics and thats no joke. Absolute bar none, BEST Grill there is. If there is a fault, It would be the burn pan just wore out this year but for as much as I use it. I would have gone through at least 2 or more of the other grills or burners and not used them nearly as much."
