"I live alone and more often than not I am cooking only for one. This unit is perfect small amounts of smoked meats, peppers, etc. The recipies in the guide are simple, they work and lead to very predictable results. I stongly recommend that purchasers order additional wood chips with the unit. It will allow the user to try a larger variety of receipes more quickly."

"After being fed the best ribs we had ever eaten while visiting friends in Montana, my husband and I found out that the funny looking shiney box on the porch that said Big Chief was the smoker our friend used to prepair our wonderful meal. Being from the south, it's pretty much a given that we know ribs. Long story short, I got my husband the Mini Chief since it's just the two of us now. It's the perfect size for us. The Mini Chief comes with a great recipe book full of ideas and smoking options you never would have dreamed. It's easy to use, easy to clean and not bulky. So far, he has made jurkey from shoulder steak that was soo good and I might add not tough and a pork tenderloin. I think next we may try the smoked and fried pinto bean patties. MMM MMM! Now that's good eatin'!"

"Mini-Chief Smoker is super! Worka exactly the way it says it's going to in the booklet that accompanied the package. Salmon turned out very good although a little too salty for my taste. And yes, we did rinse it off under cold water after brining it.
Not possible to eat all of it so put couple of big huniks in freezer.
Can't wait for the next party so we can show off................"

"The MiniChief works like it should. It is simple to operate and easy to carry Delivery was great as you come to expect from Cabelas, even to Canada. "I have only used the smoker 3 or 4 times, but I like the way it performed. It is rather lightweight but if it holds up that might be a good thing. I have not tried to find the finely shredded wood chips locally, but I'm hoping that won't be a problem. Overall I'm am pleased with my Mini-Chief Smoker."

Mini-Chief Only Small in Size,May 22, 2007

"I purchased this smoker primarily for smoking mackerel (which is plentiful in my area)....well...in the few weeks that I've owned it, I've smoked salmon, haddock, chicken and cheese! My wife and children love what comes out of the smoker and have requested that I smoke more when we run out. I just bought 3 lbs of sharp cheddar cheese which I will be smoking tonight (only takes about an hour or so) and will be giving 1 lb away as a gift.
I have recommended this unit to a couple of friends, one of which I recently sent the Cabela's link to. I may even purchase another one for my vacation house.
The only draw-back that I can think of is you may need to do a couple of batches if you were having a large crowd over...but other than that, I am more than happy with the unit.

"This little smoker is perfect for one or two people. I've got about every smoker there is, charcoal, electric, and propane from just about every manufacturer including Weber, Charbroil, Brinkman and Bradley. This little gem gets the most use unless I'm cooking for the freight crew at work. With it's small heating element it will only get up to about 165 degrees on a warm day but after you have burned up two or three pans of wood chips and slow cooked your meat for a few hours just put about six or eight hot charcoal briquettes in the pan and you've got yourself a real oven."
