turned out good.10/15/09,October 20, 2009

"the reason i gave these pants three stars is because the waist band fell apart 6 hours into my hunt, exchanged them and now couldnt be happier. very warm in 10 degrees and snow, sat and neeled in snow and never got wet, look good with about any other camo pattern,i also have snow wool pair very good products and will be purchasing coat soon. also true to size and very comfortable when the waist is in tact"

"Great winter pants comfortable and warm. I only wear a light base layer under them and go. Honestly it's one of the best pieces of hunting clothing I have. I'm getting the overalls next."

hi value for the $$,January 10, 2009
By innercitymikefrom central ohio
"I wanted some pants to get me out and warm during the late bowhunting season. I went with these cause they're cheaper and I saw the good reviews. My actual dimensions are 34 waist and about a 29 1/2 inseam, I ordered the 36 waist and same inseam.
Pants came, they were 32" long. I returned, asked for a 29, and got them back with 31 1/2" inseam... Decided I would quit there and keep em. I don't think they measure the inseam from the middle of the crotch when they hem it? So they may come a bit longer than you request.
The color is dark, without a lot of contrast. About the same shade as a mossy oak breakup. I use for tree sitting on the ground in the Ohio hardwoods, and it works fine for that. Especially blends well when I'm sitting in deadfalls. In open country the color might be a little too dark.
These are WARM pants, the pockets are good and they have stayed together, so I would recommend. I normally layer with mtp boxer briefs, silk longjons and a pair of athletic shorts. Dressed like this I can sit still 4 hours+ in temps as low as the high teens. Haven't tried them below that temp yet. Today was light freezing rain and 28 degrees and I was on my way out the door till reason stopped me... didn't go out because the roads are so icy.
Yes, the buttons are sewn a little loosely. If you will be walking thru thorns and burrs a lot the pants will pick them up. That doesn't stop them from being warm tho. I'm considering a pair of gaiters to keep the bottoms from picking up so many and to keep them from gettin tore up.
One other thing: they have a scent that smells a lot like burlap. I have washed twice in baking soda and dead downwind, and they still have some of the odor. I don't know how deer handle that smell, it might not hurt, but figure all of you out there might want to know. Good huntin, ~m"

Must have pants,December 15, 2008
By ToddJBfrom upstate New York rifle and traditional bow hunter.
"I recently purchased the Gallatin Range wool pants to wear in Upstate New York. I contemplated buying the wool pants with wind shear for the cold late season. No need these pants are awesome. Extremely comfortable with mid weight poly pros even in 20 degree weather, in rain, freezing rain and snow. Some mornings my pants are frozen below the knee from the day before, yet they are as comfortable as if they just came out of the dryer. I really like how natural the camo pattern looks, not to mention how quiet they are. I wear a 34 and purchased a 36 (great fit with long underwear). The belt loops are quite adequate as are the cargo pockets. I like these pants so much that I will be buying a pair for my father for Christmas. Next year I hope to buy a jacket to complete the ensemble. If you want to be warm, comfortable and stealthy, then these are your pants."

Great Wool Pants,December 15, 2008
By LTJared
"Used these wool pants extensively throughout the WI gun & late archery deer hunt seasons & they keep me warm. I do wear & HIGHLY recommend the 400 gm Woolpower long underwear. For bottoms, I wore just the Woolpower long johns & these Columbia Gallatin wool pants & was toasty. These pants are great for walking or sitting in stand. They are quiet & have higher padding in the knees which comes in handy when kneeling. Excellent pants, excellent price!!! Highly recommend."

awesome!,December 9, 2008
By thegodfatherfrom baton rouge, la
"i got the shirt and pants for bow hunting. i used them for the first time this week. it was about 30 degrees with little breeze. with only a couple thin layers they were perfectly warm and comfortable. more notably, they are absolutely quiet. for bowhunters, you cannot beat the quietness of wool and at 75 bucks, they are a lot cheaper than other products. also, i would recommend having the pants hemmed since the wool is so thick it can be a pain doing it yourself. only thing is the crotch area has a lot of material there so if you are planning on doing a lot of walking, there can be quite a bit of "rubbage" down there. watch out."

waist size,December 9, 2008
By pointmakerfrom Poughquag New York
"This is my second pair. They are very warm and they look great. The only problem I had is that they run small. The genes that I wear are a size 36 and they need a belt or they slide down. So I ordered a size 36 and they were no where close to fitting. I had to order a size 40 to be on the safe side and they fit fine but now look a little baggy. I also use suspenders and I do not think they got the inseam right. THE BOTTOM LINE "they are warm and have plenty of pockets" If you get the right size and they fit you right then they are worth it."

Great value in wool pants,December 3, 2008
By AnotherNortheastHunterfrom NH, MA hunter
"I've only had these pants for about three weeks but I've already had a chance to wear them in all types of weather. I originally purchased them for cold weather and they withstood the test last weekend in New Hampshire. Both days were cold (16 - 24 degrees) and windy, but I was very comfortable. I've also worn them on days that were more seasonable and they still performed well. They are well made and for the money, they are a great value."

"I bought these pants for a fourth season elk hunt in Colorado. In the early morning temps of 10 degrees, they were incredibly warm. Even when the pants got wet from walking in snow, I still stayed warm. I would definately recommend these."

"Wore these as my primary pants for a week, recently on an Elk/Muley hunt in idaho. They were durable and warm and resisted water. It didn't rain but between snow/frost and ice they were awesome. Best pants I had for temps from 10 to 50 degrees. Awesome pants not jsut for the money but in general."

they are ok,October 19, 2008
By blacktailkillerfrom sw washington
"i am a huge fan of wool. it is the only real high performance hunting clothing. however every button including the suspender buttons had to be replaced or re-attached as they were "hanging by a thread. if your wife is a seamstress then by all means buy these pants. If only it would get cold enough in sw washington for me to wear them."

Wool Pants,February 20, 2008

"Very warm with medium base layer but bulky. The only complaint is the buttons. Poor design for the price. I will need to do some sewing before my second adventure. They barely made it through my first. Columbia needs to hear about this. The pants are awesome for comfort and movement."

Good Stuff,February 20, 2008
By Holmesteadfrom Pueblo West, CO
"I'm very particular with hunting pants, with that said the Columbia wool is excellent. All the cargo storage you will need and reinforced knees are great for crawling or shooting position. They also come with suspender buttons, if you use them. They do not chince on material, they are very thick and warm.Great for stalking, extremely quiet"
