Good rifle sling,

"I used the safari sling on a recent Canadian hunting trip. I carry a backpack and my old sling was always falling off. The sling worked as advertised, keeping my hands free, but rifle always at the ready. My only improvement would be to put some rubber "grippers" on the sling so it stays in place. A well made and unique sling."

"Have used this sling for years, best sling there is if your walking. Gun hangs in the ready position and your arms do not get tired. I hunt grouse, pheasant and still hunt deer with the sling."

"I used this sling on my 2009 Colorado Elk hunt. It really does work as far as keeping my rifle in a ready position but I wouldn't want to have that much weight on my neck for a long walk in the woods again (my rifle and scope weigh almost 13 lbs). I didn't care for the way it pushed against the scope when I used it as a regular over the shoulder sling. I have recomended it to friends that I want to keep as friends. They have lighter rifles than my old Weatherby and Leupold scope! This was my 29th year of big game hunting in Colorado."

Whats left to say?,

"My wife bought me this sling for Christmas last year because I have RA and it was difficult for me to carry my rifle. It was just a tad tricky to put this sling on correctly but in a few minutes I got it figured out it works great. The only thing I can say about anyone that left a bad review is they must not have installed it correctly as there is no way my rifle with a scope can flip upside down even if it had a 10 pound scope and it has never gotten in the way when lifting the rifle to the firing position. Great sling, two thumbs up."

Faithful, Reliable, Quick, Comfortable,

"I purchased mine in 1994 (15 years ago) after hunting hundreds of thousands of acres in Idaho and Washington over the course of eleven years with a rifle slung over my back. A friend of mine turned me on to this sling after watching him keep his rifle in perfect position to be ready for a shot at any time and easily transitioned from binocs to the rifle etc. It took a little getting used to. Sometimes it feels like you left your rifle behind and put an armrest in its place. It took a few minutes to figure out how to put the thing in place properly. In the field it also took a little while to realize I could easily adjust the hight of the carry on the fly as conditions changed. No doubt that the sling allowed me to pull up, acquire a good sight picture and take down my first California deer this year among other quick shots I've taken over the years. Not sure I would have had time to un-shoulder the rifle, get it into position and take the shot. I look forward to many more years with this sling on my rifle. PS. I'm not sure I'd like this sling on a rifle without a scope, it might get in the way a little. With a scoped rifle and very little practice, you can get the sling on an up in firing position EXTREMELY FAST."

"If I could give it 10 stars I would. What a great change to a traditional sling. If you get out and put miles on your feet while hunting this strape is for you. I carry a 270 semi auto which can get a little heavy after a few hours. The safari sling took that all away. Truly, this sling is prefect. Like all hunting gear, practic at the range before taking into the field. Once you get use to it, it's fantastic. From rest to shoulder in a fraction of a second. I really can't say enough good things about it. It will be one of the best investments you will make in your hunting gear. And the cost is right. Thanks again Cabelas!!!"

Gun Sling,

"I purchased my first safari sling, which I still have, back in the late 80's. I still have it on my rifle. I just purchased one for my wife and a friend. I noticed the newer ones are built alot more sturdier. I have used this sling while hunting, hiking, and horseback. If you have to get to your rifle quick, this is the only way to go. It is also unbelievably durable. Thanks!"

great sling,

"I bought the sling to have a way to carry my rifle without having it bang off my pack or slide off my shoulder. This sling keeps the gun out in front and ready and allows for the hunter to easily release the gun and use both hands for binoculars or some other task. The only thing that would make it even better would be a way to use it with a mounted bipod. I'm not a big fan of shooting sticks. I recently used it antelope hunting and found it to be just what I had been looking for in a sling, except for the issue with using the sling with a bipod. I think I have found a way to get around that issue."

Safari Sling,

By waynesworld

"I purchased 4 safari slings and my self and 3 others have been using them for the past 3 weeks of hunting season in the Sierras. I personally harvested a 26" wide California Black Tail Deer opening day of the season. This was my first Buck from the Sierras.
The safari sling is comfortable and enables you to have your firearm in position to make a quick and accurate shot. The typical shoulder sling is really uncomfortable compared to this sling.
I have a great picture with the buck and my safari sling, if you are interested in the photo, let me know and I will forward it to Cabelas."

Safari Sling is king,
September 14, 2009
By AquariusWY

"I had been a user of the traditional, over the back style rifle slings for over twenty years ... until the day that I lost the bolt on my 788 going through thick willows on an elk hunt. That Christmas, I was given a safari rifle sling and I will NEVER use the old style sling again. Both hands are free if need be. I have tripped and stumbled while wearing the safari sling and never lost my rifle, even when both hands were needed to catch myself, unlike dropping my rifle when that happened with the traditional sling. My rifle has never fallen off my shoulder and I do not have to keep hiking my rifle back up on my shoulder when it works it's way almost off my shoulder like the traditional style slings do. It is also a real easy sling to shoulder with my pack on too, unlike the traditional style that kept interfering with and fighting for room on my shoulder with the pack strap. The ease and speed that your rifle can be drawn to shoot, is hands down far better and faster than the ole traditional sling. I have gone through the exact same willow patch on many occasions since getting my safari sling and have had no problem with it. I simply pull the muzzle up to vertical and the sling slips easily on my shoulder, and I carry it vertically in front of me when going through thick brush. The same thing is true when others walk up on your muzzle side. Just pull it to vertical and keep on going. You can even let go of your rifle in this position and it stays there...safe.
Now that I know the only place to get them is through Cabelas at this time, for the most part, I can "sell" at least seven of them to other hunters who want them, and have asked me where to get them. Just this past weekend at the shooting bench I could have sold three of them when they saw mine and heard my testimony and saw me demonstrate it's use and versatility. Make that ten I can now sell.
GREAT product. Thanks."

Safari Rifle Sling,

"I have been hunting with a reguler rifle sling for ever. I seem to have grown older and my arms and hands go numb holding a sling on my shoulder. I saw the Safari Rifle sling on a hunt I was on and had to have one. You can adjust the sling so it is ready to go into action.Your not yanking it off your shoulder and then lining up the shot. With the Safari Sling you just pull it up to your shoulder aim and shoot. Also you are hands free when you carry your gun. The price was small, and its well worth having. Don't for get your rifle will stay out of the way when you drag out the big one. I use it on .223 through 375H&H."

Fantastic Sling,
August 8, 2009
By AussieDeerHunter

"These slings are fantastic. They work exactly as designed and enable you to mount the gun faster than ANY other sling setup. Its important to set them up exactly as the instructions say so the sling easily clears the butt of the stock on mounting the gun. This is achieved by offsetting one side of the sling through the rear swivel by 1" or so.The detailed instructions are easy to understand and point this out.The instructions are printed on the inside of the packaging.Quality is excellent.Plenty of adjustment in the length - its not possible for it to be too long or too short for anyone.Very comfortable to use and fast. They work well if your carrying a pack too.I wish they had been around 20 years ago-Without a doubt one of the best things i have ever purchased."

"Not the conventional over the solder sling but it will do that. Hangs in the front based on if you are a left or right handed shooter. I switched to shooting left handed and a really good thing about this sling is that you have the rifle positioned correctly to avoid a mistake. The only downside for me is that I still shoot a right handed rifle and the bolt tends to poke me in the gut."
