total junk,November 6, 2009
By hatchetmanfrom San Diego CA
"finally received my 22 cal pellet pistol yesterday took it out to give it a trym pellets do not slide into chamber they stick at the opening. I had to hold gun upside down and place pellet into the chamber to get it in. gave it four pumps closed receiver gave it a quarter turn to lock it in place turned off saftey and pulled trigger. I could hear the spring release but no air pressure so I cocked it again and same thing looked over gun and found pellet sticking out the end of the barrel. re set up the gun and pull trigger this time with eight pumps, the gun fires, pellet goes all of five feet and drops into grass. I will look for a better pellet pistol and yes I am surprised at the poor quality even though it is made by Crossman under the Benjamin Sheridan name."

Well done!!,June 30, 2009
By charleyinbeaumonttexfrom Texas
"I got my merchandise promptly and I was able to track it on line. I wish other suppliers was as good. I ordered the Benjamin pump air pistol model#HB22. The Benjamin pump air pistol that you sent is an extremely accurate pistol. I mounted a laser sight on it and with this combination I can put a five shot group in a single ragged hole at 20 yards! I have used one since 1977 and have enjoyed them greatly. I never had one wear out on me because my last two Benjamin air pistols were stolen, I was able to get my first replacement locally some fifteen or so years ago. However when my last one got stolen I could not find any local supplier and Cabela's was the only source that I could find for this particular product. Thank you for letting me put my two cents in."

It's OK Would not recommend !,January 12, 2009
By BuyDellfrom Oceanville, NJ
"It is hard to pump, but I did read that in the reviews when I got it. Accuracy is so,so...I think someone mentioned in here that for the money, they could have got a rimfire .22..... I purchased it for lowering the squirrel population in my bird feeding area without the loud sound.....
I must say it has a quality build."

Satisfied,December 9, 2008
By Anonymousfrom NEPA
"Gun Quality is good. Shoots out of box at 15'-20'close range accurate. The only negative thing is a little difficult to pump. A longer handle would deffinitly make it easier to pump. Purchased for my wife- Almost sorry I didnt purchase a 22 rim fire pistol for the money instead."

Very Durable,July 21, 2008

"I have found that each pump equals about 100 fps. with a max. of about 600 fps. For early teens the weight seems a little heavy but they seem to be handle it well."

"I am very satisfied with this model, in .22 cal., I wouldn't purchase a .177; they perform well for targets only. Thank you, Allan."

Benjamin Pump Pistol; better than I hoped,January 31, 2008
By Owlfredfrom Titusville, Fl.
"While difficult to pump (that's why only four stars) I am very pleasently surprised at how accurate the pistol is. I can pop away at a dogfood can at 10 yards and hear a satisfying bing each time. On paper it shoots about two inch or smaller groups at that distance. Better than some .22 LR handguns that I own. Yes, I would definitely reccomend it to a friend. And Cabela's got it to us in plenty of time to find it under the tree on Christmas morning."

Great Little Powerhouse,January 10, 2008
By Sevenstringfrom Texas
"I received my .22 caliber this week. I am impressed with the overall design and workmanship. I had to tighten one of the hand grips as it was left loose. It appeared that the screw was slightly crossthreaded. I managed to get it tight using a little persuasion. Other than that, I am 100% satisfied."

Great llittle air pistol,November 28, 2007
By g300dfrom Shandaken NY
"I have had one of these air pistols for a few years and it has always worked great, after spending the time to practice and sight it in properly, I can hit pennies. The tediousness of pumping is offset by the reliability and low cost of operation, It is powerful enough for small pest control. I would have given it five stars, but the wooden grips on mine seemed to work loose after a while, and the roll pin that retains the wood on the pump lever works its way out of the hole a bit. I have probably fired over 2000 rounds. A good buy, And will last with proper care."

Awesome Gun! Hard to find accessories for.,April 15, 2007
By archerywizfrom Jacksonville, IL
"I just bought this gun yesterday (April 14, 2007). I have been shooting it only about 15 shots at my pellet trap. I went to the new Cabela's store in Missouri myself and picked it out. If you want a holster for it, you might be standing around for a while trying to find one to fit this gun. Even a worker couldn't find one to fit until a while later. None of their hip holsters will fit it, but they do have a shoulder holster that will. I have not sighted it in yet. If you are not an expert at reading the owner's manual then it is very hard trying to find where the screws to sight it in are. I will also say that it is expensive."

Benjamin .177 pump pellet pistol,April 9, 2007
By Tomsspace
"The Benjamin pump pistol (.177) is only fair for workmanship. The blue finish is not very good. The sights came adjusted to shoot about two inches high. One or two pumps is useless. anything above that seems to work well depending on what you want hit and how much damage you want to cause. It is handier than a C02 pistol and works okay if you don't mind the single shot feature."

Does not live up to it's description,January 22, 2007
By 1mountainbikerfrom New Jersy
"In all fairness I would have to say that the HB22 by far is probably one of the worst purchases I have ever made. Although it is priced at 129.00 the quality of the overall is fair.
The product is rated at 525 feet per second with eight pumps. I have used 3 types of pellets ranging from lightweight wadcutters to heavier "Hunting" pellets.
From 10 feet, using an Ohler 35P chronograph, there was no way to achieve that kind of velocity. Top velocity with 8 pumps and using lightweight wadcutters produced a velocity of 355 fps average using 10 shots. A plus here is the standard deviation was only 3 which is incredible. I am assuming that the 525fps in the description came from the .177 caliber version using ultra lightweight wadcutters.
There is no windage adjustment on this pistol only elevation. Using a large adjustable wrench I was able to twist the rear sight and bend it almost a quarter of an inch to maintain any kind of zero at 10 meters with 5 pumps (that's all you need, anymore is a waste of energy).
The trigger is heinous! Gritty and a long pull before anything happens. After modifying what would be considered the sear mechanism by cutting it down almost 1/8 of an inch, grinding down the factory metal pieces left over and polishing it, the trigger became much smoother.
The weight of the trigger is controlled by two mechanisms. One is the trigger spring, had to bend that a bit to lighten it up and the main spring located in the rear. Replaced that with a firing pin spring from a Raven MP25 and now the trigger is set at a very respectable pull weight of 1.25 lbs with just a tiny bit of creep but crisp let off.
With all that work done, the gun does and can shoot bullseyes at 10 meters using 50 foot, B3 and B4, (slow, timed and rapid) targets. Yes I know you can't shoot timed or rapid but the bulls are bigger and gives a warmer feeling inside.
It took a lot of work and I do wish there was a bit more metal in the back as I would have a 3/8" dovetail cut in it and a bo-mar type adjustable sight installed.
As a last note to all of this, to keep with everything, the advertised weight is 2.5lbs, mine was really 2.1lbs but I have added two lead weights in the two hollows under the grips bringing the total weight up to 2.82 lbs which gives a steadier hold."

Bullseye,November 27, 2006
By CabinLifefrom MN
"The moment I took the gun out of the box, I new I would like it. The gun looks great and is lighter than I expected. The best part, the very fist target I shot at, a Coke can at 50 feet, I hit it. The accuracy out of the box was excellent. The trigger action took little effort to release for a pellet pistol and displayed more power than I expected."
