30" Light Contour Barrel for Rem 870 was perfect.,

"Purchase of a replacement / upgrade barrel for my older 870 wingmaster has sparked some new life into a seasoned old dog...
The new "light contour" barrel is much lighter in the muzzle than the old design and changes the whole feel of the gun in your hands. Even though I added 4 inches with the new barrel and you might expect it to be nose heavy, the gun now is “lighter” than ever and points well.
I use this gun now for Trap and with a 30" barrel it sits in the rack at the same overall length as some of the other guns specifically designed and made for Trap an costing K$ more.
Of course since it was OEM by the gun manufacturer it fit perfectly and matches the original receiver seamlessly."

Recoil to account for,

"The cantalever mount is not solid enough for the recoil that a 12g slug produces. While the barrel is well made and easy to interchange with bird barrels the scope cantalever is not solid enough. I ruined a brand new scope sighting the shotgun as the recoil creates tremendous G force at the end of the canatlever. SOLUTION: Drill and tap cantalever mount into reciever at gunsmith. This will redcuce the shock the scope recieves. BTW the scope was a top quality SHOTGUN rated unit. Also be sure to pull the barrel toward you with maximum strenth when fasteningit into place with the cap as it wll waver from side to side otherwise and reduce accuracy. Try the Honaday sabot slugs. 2 inch group at 100yards.

The rail is cocked,

"I purchased on of the 20-21" rifled cantilever barrels for my 870 wingmaster. The barrel looks nice, but I could not get the scope dialed-in any closer than 3" left of the bullseye at 50 yards. I removed and replaced the scope three times with identical results. I then noticed that the mounting rail for the scope is cocked to the right. The back of the rail is about 1/8" left of being centered, explaining the left of bullseye pattern.
I assumed that this was fluke result and ordered a replacement barrel from Cabela's. Wrong. Replacement barrel arrived and was similarly misaligned. Apparently a quality control issue at Remington. What to do?"

"Got the barrel in the mail, opened the Remington Box and installed on my 870 Express with no problems at all. None. I haven't shot it yet, but it really shortens the overall length of the shotgun. Perfect for home defense.

"Pick up the 28" barrel to make my 870 magnum pump more versitle and it now serves double duty during pheasant season. Upon receipt of the new barrel I had to install it asap and it went on seamlessly and smoothly. So far it is working out just fine. I don't expect any problems."

Fit but not pretty,

"Ordered a 30" Vent Rib Express with Rem Choke. Fit & Function were perfect, but the finish was not as nice as my receiver. My Receiver has a nice deep blued finish and the barrel had a rougher black finish. Sent back for refund.
3 of 5 because it fit and functioned, but not as pretty as the rest of the gun."

"This was my first purchase from
Cabela's.
I buy just about everything online,and have had problems at times with products being listed as in stock,only to find that I had paid for a back ordered product.
I emailed Cabela's cust. service to confirm that this item was in stock,as well as if it would fit my shotgun.
I emailed them at around 4:00AM in Ca. and left for about an hour.
When I returned I had an email telling me that stock was good as well as it was the correct product.
I appreciated the quick response,as in other cases I have waited days for an answer or no answer at all.
I should also mention that the price was the best also.
Now when I need any type of outdoor product,my first search is Cabela's."

"Bought an old police 870 with 18" cylinder bore barrel and wanted to hunt with it. Bought this barrel so I could use different chokes. Barrel received very quickly and in great shape. Fit my gun with no problems. After market turkey choke worked fine. Now if only the turkeys would show up!"
