Replacement barrel for an old Rem 1100,

"I bought my 1100 in 1967, with a 30" full choke, vent rib barrel. A truly great gun, but sometimes hampered by the full choke. The replacement barrel that I bought from Cabela's has made my retirement even more satisfying. I'm no longer limited to using it for turkey and waterfowl ! It fits the receiver like a glove and has added another dimension to my favorite gun.
Ironically, I won a Remington M887 in a gun raffle two days after my new barrel arrived. tried it on opening day of duck season in a head to head with the 1100.
I'm going to sell the 887 and stick with my 1100."

Good barrel / Minor isues,

"I bought a 26 inch steel shot barrel for and older 1100 Magnum shotgun. The barrel fit and functions well. It has given an old shotgun a new lease on life as the origional 30 inch full choke would not funtion with steel shot loads. The new barrel functions with both steel and lead in 3 inch loads as well as more 2 3/4 types of shells than did the origional. The screw in chokes fit well. My only negatives for the barrel is that the front bead sight came a little loose with no apparent way to tighten it up and the length is not the advertised 26 inches. It measures a full inch shorter at only 25 inches. Personally, I would have preferred a 28 inch barrel but Remington only offers a 26 or 30 inch steel shot barrel."

"Fit my 1975 12g Mod. 1100 perfectly. Slightly heavier than the original but the option of having choke tubes makes it worth it. If you have an old gun with a fixed choke, bring it up to date with one of these barrels. Very nice."

"I am having trouble with accuracy with this barrel. I have tried the Lightfield slugs, Winchester Partitions, Federal Premium BarnesX, and the Brennege slugs with little success. All of the above shot consistent groups but not well. About five inch groups at fifty yards. It could be me but I don't think so. Very expensive to experiment with slugs. The Winchester Rackmaster rifled Slug seems to be performing fairly well in this barrel. I have not shot these from a rest yet but got pretty good results from a bipod type rest. I want to shoot them from a rest first. Looks like a possible two inch group at fifty yards. The others could not be shot at a hundred yards due to poor grouping. I have not tried the Rackmaster yet either at that distance. The replacement barrel for the 870 may be a better bet, I don't know. Hope this saves you guys some money. Again the rackmaster may be the ticket for your success with this barrel."

"The barrel was delivered sooner than promised and I really appreciate that.
It went right on with no problem and performed perfectly.
My only concern is that for the price I paid, I would have expected more than one choke, and at the very least I should have been given a choice of chokes. I shoot over decoys and the Full Choke you sent required that I go buy some more open chokes to get a better pattern.

Barrel lug weld failed after shooting less than a box of factory 12 ga Remington shells. Obviously a serious factory defect. Will think twice before purchasing another steel shot barrel."

"I will be returning the barrel I purchased as it does not fit my gun. There are apparently some additional 1100s not listed on the website that won't accept a replacement RemChoke barrel. I checked my serial number before placing my order and the barrel still didn't fit. I'm trying to find out from Remington what the problem may be."

"My old 1100 was having problems coughing out even magnum loads and I had put it down. Bought the steel shot barrel and shells were flying out. Better porting I guess.
Fit and finish are not comparable with the original barrel but functionality is greatly improved."
