Best Coat Ever Made,November 18, 2009

"Very well made. Wool when wet still retains it's ability to keep you warm. Living in the Pacific Northwest, I've had enough of getting wet and cold; especially when I didn't plan on getting wet and cold such as walking through wet brush on a day it wasn't raining. Cotton or these new "breathable" Gortex almost gave me hypothermia while on a self bear hunt. Now I wear thick, quiet, breathable luxurious wool exclusively.
There simply isn't a better or higher quality coat than this. Lots of pockets, well tailored, great fit and this is one, warm mamma-jamma! I got mine for Christmas and it didn't fit. Cabela's has a wonderful return policy and I couldn't be happier. This is a coat that will last for life 'cause ain't no way you're going to wear it out~!"

"I have had mine for over 22 years. It still looks almost new, and I have worn it on many adventures, including Arctic Canada. It is a heavy coat, but if you like traditional clothing, this is it. None better. It is very warm, good down to single digits, but wearable into the upper 40's. It is very quiet as well, and I have worn it many times in the cold rain and snow, which just tends to run off. It has the look of the true outdoorsman in the purest sense."

"The Filson X-Tra Long Double Mackinaw Cruiser serves as a cold weather coat. It is much heavier and warmer than a jacket. The extra length adds warmth and helps keep your butt dry when sitting. Very warm, durable, and quiet due to the wool. Heavier than modern materials, but for those of us who prefer the quietness and warmth of traditional wool, it is a good coat."

"I had purchased this coat last year for late season hunting in northern Michigan and have been very pleased with the quality of construction, functionality of the pocket design and warmth of this garment. I have remained warm and comfortable well into late December both in a tree stand or still hunting and you cant beat the quietness of wool when walking through the woods. This coat is worth EVERY penny!"
