Nice tube extension,June 22, 2009

"Came with spring and barrel clamp (with side sling swivel), but no follower was included. Used the existing follower. It cycles just fine. Steel tube, and nicely knurled collar. Looks good. The included barrel clamp is just stamped steel and does not look finely crafted, but it does the job it is designed for. I tightened the clamp to the barrel and everthing seems fine. I have not yet fired the shotgun with the extension in place, but it gives no indication that it will loosen up due to recoil. The finish matched my 870 Express and is still a bit shorter than my Hunting barrel. When unloaded, the extraweight of the exension is not noticeable. When fully loaded, you notice the forward weight of the extra rounds right away. I would not recommend using the sling swivel on the provided barrel clamp, especially on the longer extensions. I believe the stresses of the sling would twist the clamp, scratching the finish of the barrel, and potentially loosening the tube extension. With a shorter extension, I would consider using the sling swivel on the included barrel clamp.
"Very well made and easy to install. Massive fire power increase. Beware of the length. With a full 34" Wingmaster barrel, the tube was 2.5 inches shy of the barrel end! This works for me because I'm a big guy. But if your below 6ft tall, this could hinder your mobility in tight places. Just the look of this setup is scary! Ten rounds of #4 buck shot will oblitirate a vehicle."

"works great used on a 20in barrel. mounted a flashlight on it and it holds your barrel on tight. the only problem i had was i didn't file the guns mag bumps down far enough. a chainsaw file works good."

"The tac star is not a bad product for the price. I have one on a Winchester and a Remington. Just remember if you are putting on a 7 shot extension you will need a 20" barrel. If you have an 18" barrel you need to find a six shot extension."

Magazine falls apart, also damages barrel!,April 11, 2009

"While shooting, the extension tube starts to come loose from the cap that holds it to the built in magazine, sliding forward and eventually off. This process also scrapes the finish off the barrel where it is clamped near the bore.
The last thing you need in a defensive situation is for your magazine to come off and dump your shells.
I saw another review here citing the same issue.
Cabelas should discontinue this item or make the Mfgr. correct the issue."

"I ordered Tac Star's 2-round extension for my Benelli Super Nova because I liked the idea of holding more than 4 rounds in the gun. It is a sturdy piece, seeing as how it is basically a chunk of metal. It holds the barrel securely and the magazine spring that came with the extension feeds reliably. My only problem with it is that it unscrews itself after about 20 shots (and I wasn't even shooting hi-powered loads). This was quite a startling discovery for me, because as you may know, if the extension unscrews itself, it is highly likely that the magazine spring would shoot out across the field. But I know that just a bit of loctite will hold it just fine. Overall a great bit of gear to get for your Benelli Super Nova, I only docked a star because it doesn't stay screwed down tight enough on its own."

"I like these. ********************* I now own 3 of these. I have 2 Remington shotguns. they both wear a short tube that gets me 8 total rounds in the guns with one up the spout, and a full magazine. *********************** I also bought a longer magazine tube that will hold a total of 10 rounds in the gun, but It sticks out beyond 21 inch barrel, so I will just keep it with the original barrel, and if I want a bit more ammo in the gun, it is only a matter of unscrewing one tube, and replacing it with the other one. *************************** These magazine tubes come with the appropriate spring, so you don't have to wonder which spring to put in it. *************************** If you are interested in trying the game called 3-gun, you can get one of these magazine tubes and convert your Remington shotgun into a more competetive gun, and still not go into unlimited class. If you are just out shooting at clay birds, you don't need to reload as often. ***************************** If you plan on using your stock shotgun for home defense, you can use the long magazine tube to mow down the opposition. (Assumig of course that the opposition are the bad guys, and you are the good guy) You would be able to lay down a relentless field of fire, with only occasional stopages for reloading.
Even the toughest bad guy in the world balks at having to go up against a 12 gage."
