"The SKB 4 gun case arrived after connecting US flight with a large cracked corner... no internal damage. The hollow lugs / ribbing seem to be too exposed and subject to easy damage. I returned the case for full refund and replaced it with a Pelican."

"I thought this was the best case I ever bought but on my second trip it showed at the Mexico airport and was so busted up I could see the stocks of my guns through the end as it was on the conveyor. I had my old aluminum case sent down to me and I left the SKB in the trash."

"I have owned the older version of this case for over 10 years. It has been an awesome case! I have flown, drove and packed this case all over the country and it still functions like new. I recently found myself in need of a second case and the only choice for me was this newer version. It is all that I expected and more. Basically an upgraded version of my older case, (which is awesome!) the improvements in the latching system and the center board are just what I was hoping for. "After reading the reviews posted here, I decided the SKB double rifle case was for me. Upon receiving the case and looking it over, I was sure it would do the job. Upon my arrival in San Antonio for my first wild boar hunt, the case showed up at the baggage claim with one wheel bracket broken (wheel hanging loose) and one of the latch mounts broken off. Things inside shifted and damage was done to the foam liner, but everything was OK. On the way back home the other wheel bracket was broken and upon opening the case when I got home, the stock on my Marlin 444 was broken! It was after the airline's (AirTran) 24 hour damage claim period, so I am about to find out how good SKB's $1500.00 contents warranty really is."

"After reading the reviews on other cases, I picked this one because of the weight and TSA rating. It's a little thick because of stacking the guns, but I'm sure the guns will never touch each other. I took it on a bear hunt this year and it worked great! I put one gun rifle in the bottom and a hand gun and many other accessories in the top conpartment."

"This case is very light and also fragile. On the very first airline trip 3 of the end guards were damaged. Also, a single gun will move to the end of the case and damage the inside foam. i am very disaapointed in the quality and am returning it. It is NOT a good airline case.
In all fairness though I have a Browning travel vault and a Cabelas metal case that were also destroyed by the airline baggage goons. I will look at a Strong or Americase next as I travel with exspensive guns and so far these other cases have failed. The SKB however is the worst."

"I have been a long time user of this exact case. I have always considered it to be the finest Hard shell case available until recently the latch system used to secure the case has been changed to a totally different design. I just returned from Wyoming then Texas and on to canada the quality of the case is still there but the latches are very difficult to close when you have both rifles in it and only 2 of the 4 lock therefore I do intend to return it in exchange for the Cabelas Safari grade alluminum case."

"I recently purchased a Skb multi-gun case. I used it on a pheasant hunt in South Dakota. I carried two shotguns and a digital camera in the case. I flew from LAX to Minneapolis to Pierre, SD. The gun case was handled mutiple times by the airline baggage handlers. The gun case handled the abuse without so much as a scratch. The TSA locks on the case helped speed up the inspection process at the airports. I'm planning on getting many years of use out of this gun case. I would highly recommend it's purchase to anyone."

"I purchased this case specifically for an airline roundtrip to Anchorage and a subsequent hunt on the islands and peninsulas of Prince William Sound. The case, though marked up after its journey, and subjected to salty air for 7 days, safely transported my rifle, shotgun, pistol, 4 boxes of ammo, and hunting knives, and everything stayed where I packed it. The wheels also considerably lightened my load while burdened down with other baggage in the airports. The only "gotcha" may be the new size limitations being imposed by certain airlines. According to one website, anything over 62" (l+w+h) will be charged a $150.00 baggage fee. This multi-gun case, if the bumpers are included in the measurement, is over that limit. (Note: the Cabelas' catalog only lists the inside dimensions on this case)."

"This purchase was a replacement as the airlines destroyed a cheaper case which only lasted 2 round trips over the course of 2 years! The SKB case (& most importantly its contents) held up great with the airline & TSA abuse and arrived to its destination with no scratches or dings! The SKB case is worth the additional money and peace of mind considering I would need to purchase an $80 case every two years and would be uncertain whether my guns/knives made it safely to my destination without damage. I would definitely recommend this case to friends & family. The only concern was with the two latches in the middle which do not lock. I would recommend asking the TSA to place duct tape over the latches to prevent them from opening during transit (even though SKB will replace the latches at no additional cost). The only recommendation I would make or suggest to SKB is to replace the two middle latches with the same TSA locking mechanism as found on the ends. Great traveling case for those who wish to have their guns arrive to its destination with no damage!"

"I bought the two knock down shotgun (or two short rifles) case. As the review title states, it has excellent fit and finish. My guns are gripped tightly in the egg crate foam, to the point that closing the case is a bit hard. But keeping the guns from shifting IS the point so a little umph to close the case is not a negative in my book. Once the first of the four latches (two lock with TSA locks) is toggled down, the rest are easy to latch.
The outer plastic is very tough. The unit is a bit heavy with two guns closed inside but, in order to protect the guns, the case needs to be substantial. The built in roller wheels and 'tow handle' make transporting a loaded case, pretty easy. The added center carry handle is a nice touch."
