Invaluable on elk hunt,November 18, 2009

"I used this on a cow elk hunt where I boned the animal in the field using the gutless method. I backpacked the backstraps and hams out on the first trip, got the cart from the truck and then took the rest of the load out in 1 trip- close to 125 lbs of pure meat. Darkness caught me and I couldn't navigate the rough canyon country, forcing me to tie the meat up, GPS the location, and leave the cart. I returned the next morning, found the easiest path and finished the load-out. I did the bulk of the pulling by myself with my wife helping me up/over particularly steep sections.
The cart worked exceptionally well, even over some very rough and rocky country. In smoother terrain, such as a pronghorn hunt, it would be a dream.
During the off season, we'll use it haul hay bales, trash, and etc around the place. VERY glad I bought it."

"Borrowed one from someone last year, so I purchased one this year. Worth its weight in gold. Had an all uphill drag of a couple hundred feet, this saved me precious time, and possibly a heart attack. Any serious hunter who hunts far from their truck should get this."

"The cart made life for my buddy and I much easier. We both used the cart getting deer out of some hilly terrain and across some large fields. The weight can be moved so the handle is very light or loaded for steeper pulls. It does not get 5 stars because I did need to drill a couple holes for screws to go through (I shouldn't have to do that for this price) and the cart had a VERY strong mothball smell that lasted for every bit of a month through 3 washings. I would still recommend the cart, but a couple tweaks could be made."

"I bought this and used it to haul camp gear to a camp site a bit away from the parking. It worked excpetionally well. we hauled up to a couple hundred pounds and the weight was well balanced on the wheels and not on the handle. Id highly recomend it."

"This carrier is very well built and easy to put together. Though I haven't used it to haul a deer yet, I have hauled some heavy objects around the yard. Works great and is easy to pull. "Well made. Tires seem to be very sturdy. Carrier works great at hauling a recliner chair. Have not been able to use it for a deer as hunting season still 2 months away. Only problem is with getting support bars hooked up, but with a little muscle they go together fine."

"I have used this cart for a couple of years now for duck seasons. It easily carries big, heavy loads of decoys, guns, etc out and back. I have been extremely happy with this. If you are looking to buy a cart this one is a great cart at a great price. The solid rubber tires are the only way to go. If you plan on taking this out into the field at all (which I think qualifies everyone reading this) do not buy a cart with inflatable tires. The only problem I have had is that the bars are a little far apart and something small like a backpack can creep out between them."

"The only reason I gave a 4 is because I have not used the carrier out in the field yet. BUT, it is easy to assemble and my Big Game 20' Sky Box (from Cabelas) ladder stand straps down on there nicely. That is the main reason I bought the game carrier but I'm sure it will also come in handy when it comes time to pack out the BIG one."

"A friend of mine with back problems recommended this product. He has been using one for more than five years. He hunts public land all over the country. Said he has used it in swamps, Rocky Mountains and just about everything in-between. Has always worked well for him when he needs to get a heavy animal out of the woods.
I just purchased mine but haven't used it. The first one was damaged during shipping and I had to return it. No problems from Cabelas. They sent a replacement in a couple of weeks."

"Used cart extensively during the 2008 hunting season. I am using the cart to bring my hangon treestand, climbing sticks, compound bow, and other gear into the woods. I hunt off the road about a mile or more and being able to bring in gear on cart has made a big difference to me. No more double or triple trips. Very good on soft or wet ground. Wheels are a good size."

"I sold the larger version of this carrier and bought this one. It takes up less room in my Ranger pickup and navigates through the woods easier. It still has ample room to haul out two deer at the same time, which I have done. I modified the cart by bolting two 14 inch straight handles to the front end, one on either side of the front of the frame. I used one inch steel tubing with bicycle handle bar grips on the ends. This modification makes it easier to push or pull the cart, as well as making it easier to balance a load and prevent the cart from tipping on a hillside. I also added some 48 inch cable ties across the rails of the cart to make a "net" so that a flopping deer head wouldn't drop through. I also added a two inch wide synthetic mesh loop made from an extra treestand safety belt. I slip the loop around my shoulders as an extra steadying point. I confess that I love to tinker, but my modifications work and make a great product better. The cart is just fine by itself and will do what it is advertised to to do."

"Took one to elk hunt out in Colorado. Loaded up 2 medium pks, a case of bottled water and a climbing stand. Totaled around 100 lbs. Just going down an old road with a few ruts, this was unstable and wanted to tip over. the load eventually tipped over twice. Once in the woods it was worse. I kept thinking it was going to fall apart but it didnt. Overall i would not recommend. It sounds like a good idea but trust me it isnt in my opinion."

"If I have game down near a highway or road, I generally can drive to it. Where the game carrier is needed is in the back country, and most Colorado back country is very uneven, up/down terrain with obstacles such as rocks and brush. Though the game carrier is sturdy and appears well built, it failed miserably while hauling in the back country. It is well suited for even level surfaces such as sidewalks and pavement, but once it is on uneven terrain with brush, rocks, streams, and other obstacles, the effort to keep it upright and moving exceeds what it takes to backpack out an equivalent item. I ended up not only backpacking out the game, but packing out the game carrier as well (over 20#) - which was then returned for a refund.
Also, it is easier to pull than push which makes the handles inconvenient since you have to reach both arms behind you to grasp the handles with it hitting you in the rear. A better design would have been to put single handles on either side so one can walk between the handles, or better yet, a harness to fit into.
