"I purchased this unit and it must have been defective or of very poor quality. One of the buttons quit working 15 minutes after I reprogramed the combination. I was really excited when I first saw this unit. The size is just right, however, there was not enough foam inside to keep my pistol from shifting around if I tilted the unit side to side. I suppose one could add extra foam, but in my opinion it should hold the firearm in place while transporting it from place to place, not allowing it to bang against the interior walls of the vault. I also like the idea of other models that don't rely on batteries and electronics. I returned this unit promptly and of course Cabelas gave me a no hassle return, so, I'll keep looking for something better."

Perfect for bedside or traveling,August 28, 2009

"This product is turned out to be just what I was looking for. Big enough for handgun and extra clip, small enough to fit in bedside cabinet or duffel bag (for traveling).
Fit and finish is very high quality. Comes with a cable.
There is also a bio version of the microvault but Cabela's does not carry it (as of August 2009).
Only drawback is that the keylock portion uses the old "open with a bic pen" design. I don't know if a bic pen will work on this particular lock."

"The Microvault is the perfect size to keep next to your bed. The vault can be bolted down and is relatively quick to access if needed. Its also great for transporting a firearm around town.
Like every other GunVault device, the buttons take some getting used to and can benefit from more tactile feedback. Also, while the quality of the product is high, it will not stop a determined attacker from breaking or stealing it. There is only so much you can do with a vault this size."
