Gets the job done. Little bit flimsy.,February 1, 2010

"For some reason I had it in my mind that this cover was a cordura-like material. It's not, it's thin nylon and the fabric handles are stitched on. For this reason, I've tried to keep from lifting the kennel by the handles for fear that the nylon will eventually tear.
That being said, my dog is a lot warmer in the back of the truck. He can be soaking wet when I put him in the kennel in sub 30 degree weather, and he's not so much as shivering when I take him out after a 45 minute drive. It gets the job done, but it doesn't seem to be the toughest thing around."

Great Kennel Jacket and a happy bird dog!,January 28, 2010

"Ordered the extra large, insulated kennel jacket for my German Shorthair "Bud". Perfect fit for the kennel, heavy duty zippers and nice construction. Used the kennel and jacket in the back of my truck during the 120 mile round trip for Bud's first quail hunt. Kept him nice and warm on a cool Southern California morning. Have used it now for the last three weekend hunts. Can't wait to get back to Colorado next year for some real winter hunting. I'm confident he'll stay just as warm. Bud now prefers to sleep in the kennel, kept in the garage, at night instead of the Cabela's Premium Dog Bed in the house.
Unfortunately, my daughter's "rat" (Yorkshire Terrier) chewed the teeth off the door flap zipper and I can no longer zip it shut. No fault of Cabelas. I guess I'll try to find a local shop that can sew in a new zipper.
Buy the kennel jacket. You and your dog will be happy!

"I bought the XL cover, it works great. I have an off brand kennel so it is a little tight, but it still works. Hence the 4 stars instead of 5. If you buy the kennel from cabelas it will probably fit like a glove. Kept my dogs warm on the days i was traveling in -10* weather. A must for you best friend, he will love you for it."

"I purchased the kennel and cover to go together. However, the cover was too small for the kennel and I had to ship it back. I used the cover on a Vari-Kennel and it fit well. I also purchased an extra large cover another dog kennel, the vari-kennel and it fit perfectly. The covers seem to be well made and insulate well. I have not used them in the rain yet so I do not know if they are water proof. Over all this is a good cover for the price when it fits your kennel."

"The product worked great for a trip to Kansas. The trip started out at 50 degrees and fell to single digits and high wind. The kennel jacket kept my spoiled shorthair very comfortable. One suggestion would to make it out of a more durable fabric."

"We purchased this for our new lab pup so that she would stay warm when we go camping and hunting in all different types of weather in the NW. It can be any type of weather from below freezing and snowing to sunny and warm to raining when we go. We got the insulated XL cover and it fits perfectly over our kennel (XL Petmate 2).
The cover keeps the dog nice and warm when in the cooler weather and the zippered windows and door work great for adjusting the ventilation. We have used it a few times already over the last month and one of the times it was in the rain but since it is not a waterproof cover the rain soaked through the material but kept the rain from blowing straight in the kennel and soaking her. The dog and her bed stayed dry. We will probably try spraying it with silicon waterproofing to make it a little more water resistant.
The cover looks nice and so far it seems to be well made, no issues with it. We would highly recommend this for anyone who wants to protect their dog from the elements whether while out hunting or camping."

"Received this in time for the 4 degree weather the following morning. My dog was warm and in good spirits after a 20 mile drive to my hunting destination in an open truck. I was impressed enough to purchase a second cover for my other dog. The covers were all zipped down except for one window that I left partially open for venting. I did recommend this to my friends for use with their dogs."

"Used the large and Xlarge tan insulated kennel covers on a Pheasant hunt to Iowa and night time temp was as low as 2 degrees not counting the wind chill.
Dogs stayed in their portakennels inside the truck shell. Average temp inside their boxes were 32-35 degrees. I keep a indoor/outdoor temp in the motel room to monitor temp.
Do not totally zipper it closed. Follow the directions enclosed. Dogs generate a lot of heat. They can sufficate and get to hot. Great product. No need for the fancy camo model. The dogs don't care!"

"This is the second insulated cover I've bought (new pup so I needed another crate & cover). The first one I bought 4 years ago and I'm still using it, ZERO PROBLEMS!!! The directions will tell you to leave the windows/door covers open for ventilation so the dog doesn't overheat, even in the winter, and they are absolutely correct!!! Even going down the highway in single digit temps they must have it vented open. Scotchgard in the fabric makes it water resistant (not waterproof) but it will keep the dog dry. I let it air dry on the crate and it dries out overnight.
NOTE: LARGE crate of the Stylette Kennel Express type will use a large size cover. The LARGE kennel of the Remington brand or similar/equivelent run a little big so you'll need to use the X-LARGE COVER!!!"

"I bought 2 medium and 2 large. The medium are ok-they are a little large for my Pet Porters-but in real cold weather I can put pieces of carpet (or newspaper) on both sides and the top between the kennel cover and the pet porter and increase insulation on cold trips. The 2 large are also too big but I can add insulation to them also. But there is a problem with the strap and snap that hold the windows up during mild weather. The one on the right side nearest the door is put on backward and the snap is defective (when the snap is closed and then opened one part of the snap pulls away from the strap)- I used duct tape to secure the window. I returned the 2 large for relpacement. One of the replacement covers is OK as far as the defective strap is concerned but the other has the same problem as the first 2. So far the zippers are holding up (unlike the kennel covers I bought 2 years ago) but I've hauled them less than 1,000 miles in the back of my pickup."
