with up to a 180-ft. diameter. Your pet wears a lightweight, waterproof receiver (2-1/2" x 1-1/4" x 1
-1/4" at 4 oz.) incorporated into a comfortable collar (adjusts from 6" to 28" and is not recommended
for dogs less than 8 lbs.) that runs on a 6-volt battery module. The included receiver has five levels of
stimulation and a tone-only mode. System comes with a test light as well as a built-in low-battery
indicator on the receiver. The fence works on a proximity approach, meaning your dog is free to roam
when within range of the base transmitter. When he approaches the boundary of the signal area, the
collar emits a warning beep; if he leaves the signal area, he receives a safe but very noticeable
correction until he returns. During training, 50 included flags are placed around the determined border.
The handler will then walk the dog on lead up to the flags where it will hear the tone then receive
stimulation - the dog learns to associate the borders with the uncomfortable stimulation and stays
within the safe zone. Flags can later be removed, and the dog will remember the border lines.With a
little simple training - about 10 minutes a day for a couple weeks - your dog will quickly learn not to
leave the signal area. Instant Fence is completely portable - take it with you wherever you go. Just plug
the portable transmitter into any 110-volt outlet, place the collar on your dog, train him to the
boundary and let him run. Transmitter can be placed in your home, garage or other weather-protected

"I tried forever to set up the system as directed. I could never get away from the home unit more then 10 feet, without the buzzer going off. Now, I have not had time to call the company but if something like this is so hard to set up and expensive, it is not worth the money"

"I wasn't happy at first as I followed the instructions, keeping it 3-4 feet from large metal objects and installing on the wall. However my dog was able to walk down the driveway and leave our property, which is well beyond the 90' range. I found that the metal shelving units i had in my garage, even though they were 10-12 feet away, were causing interference. Placing the unit on my front porch worked much better, although it certainly limited the range a bit due to the length of the house. All in all seems to be a good product and works as intended."

"I took me only 5 minutes to train my 2 yr old weimeraner. We have an expensive invisible fence at home, but needed something for our country home, since he's been "visiting" everyone in our community. Set up was ridiculously easy. Set up flags at the driveway and along the rear but didn't even do the sides. As soon as he heard the "beep", he stopped and turned around. Since we are not there every weekend, 3 weeks had passed and he "forgot" and got zapped. That was it, he ran back to the house and stayed in for an hour. he hasn't walked through again and it's been months. Great system for the money. I was hoping it would cover more than 1/2 acre, since I'm on 2 acres, but... we have peace-of-mind now. By the way, next time my "hard-wired" invisible fence goes down, I'm replacing with this system."

"Product performs as advertised. While I initiated the training program recommended by the manufacturer it turned out that where my dog was already trained to an e-collar for hunting (in that the beep or stimulii means come close) the training to the e-fence took only one or two sessions. Truly contains an english setter that was happy extending her range to being content running around the yard. Now I have piece of mind that she's safe and close by."

"Easy to install. Easy to train dog to boundries. She is a timid dog, so only set on the 2nd strongest setting. After initial shock came after the warning beep, she was educated. Zigzagging back and forth the "warning zone", she would hear audible beep and balk to return to safe area. Our dog was trained in 2 days/attempts. I'm sure she is the exception, but I am VERY pleased with this product and the results we've had."

"This worked great first time out... they walked the perimeter, evidently hearing the tone and followed it around themselves without being led. Very interesting for a one year old lab and 3 year old golden.

"Our yard has many steep hills. We keep the fence generator in the basement, and it still extends up a very steep hill into the front yard. This system creates a nice circle barrier. The fence can vary quite a bit, but it's not too concerning for us. Sometimes the collars beep even when in the house."

"When I obtained the PetSafe Instant Fence, I was a bit skeptical about it working. I have a Chocolate Labrador who is, I believe, a little smarter than the average bear. The Instant Fence works great but now my dog has gotten smarter than either the fence or me. I placed the flags out along the perimeter and worked with him so that he understood that when he neared them and the beep sounded, he needed to high-tail it back toward the garage. This worked out great. Even with the collar off, he would not get near the flagged perimeter. When I ran into trouble was when the female heeler down the street came in season. Understand, my Lab can jump extremely well and he is also very quick on his feet. He has learned that if he gets to within about eight to ten feet from where the perimeter flags are that he can "blast-off" and outrun the corrective "jolt". I have since removed the flags so he really does not know where the perimeter is now and we are back in business. Seriously, I would recommend this product to anyone not wanting to spend the money on a fence as a means for containment of their pet."

"The instant fence has worked well for both of our dogs. They had it figured out by the end of the second day. One drawback ,due to the distance between the road and the house is about 30 feet, I had to reduce the cover area, therefore losing cover area in rear of house,giving the dogs about a 60 foot circle.The area behind my house is 5 acres, It would be nice if you change the area where the unit doesn't have to be in the center of the cover area."

"This fence works as advertised. The transmitter mounts nicely on the wall of our home. It was very easy to calibrate to the fence radius which we desired. We followed the training instructions and they worked! Our black lab/husky mix is a runner, but we now are able to let him out the back door unattended. One note: we remove the collar during thunderstorms or anytime there is a chance the power could go out-just to be safe. Overall, a great product. We are satisfied!"

"A few weeks ago at our family cabin, my dog chased after and had her paw run over by a Ford F150. Dumb dog survived and was hobbling after cars the next day... So I purchased and installed this fence. It took about 45 minutes to setup the fence and install the flags. It works great. It took about 15 minutes to train my dog and get her familiar with the boundary flags (she has an inground fence at home)."
