"I bought this hat as an alternative to the same old ball cap that I normally wear hunting. Wore it every day in Kodiak, Alaska for a 10 day deer hunt. It was great!! "A great alternative, to wearing a blaze orange baseball cap, where state laws require hunter orange hat and vest. Very comfortable, light weight and maintains its shape. The earflaps are just an added bonus on chilly mornings. They easily tuck out of the way when not needed. CAUTION: Do not order your hat merely on the basis of small, medium, large, etc. size. Call and speak with a Customer Service Rep and find out the exact hat size in inches by measuring the outside circumference of your head with a piece of string. If you don't, I guarantee you'll order the wrong size and have to send it back!!"

"Being one of those people who is follicaly challenged, a good hat is required equipment whenever the sun shines, when there is precipitation, when the temperature is below 50 degrees, etc. When I'm in the field with Jake looking for upland birds, an orange hat is required by the state. I ordered Cabela's Lite Felt™ Outback Hat with Earflaps in seclusion orange. After a little personal modification (changed band, steamed and reshaped top) this is my favorite hat. It is little bright to wear to the hardwear store on Saturday, but its so comportable I wear it any way. Way to go Cabela's."

"This hat is a good idea with the ear flaps. The hat looks good and it stays on in the wind. I ordered one through the catalog and it fit perfect with the ear flaps tucked inside. With the ear flaps folded down the fit was too tight. Not the hat size, the ear flaps were very tight across the back of my head, so I sent it back. I had the chance to drive to a Cabela's store and tried the hats on while I was there. They all fit the same way but the ear flaps can be easily stretched out."

"Unfortunately I bought this and the blaze break-out hat after hunting season. BUT, I can wear the normal cammo and no one notices that it's a hunting hat. The ear flaps are warm and I like the fedora look. No complanits at all."

"This product by far exceeds what I would normally buy, if the chill warrants it, pull the flaps. If you need more get the small fleece stocking cap and wear it under the hat, between then, -20 degree weather is no problem. Only wish it would hold its western shape just a bit more or a holder would be made to keep it in when not wearing it."

"2007 Rifle deer season in PA turned out to be cold and rainy in Clarion this year. I was the only person with a dry head and neck. Day long drizzles were not able to penetrate the wool and the wind couldn't get through the earflaps. Stop reading these reviews and buy it now. "I purchased this hat prior to a western hunt. Size fits well, 'tho a tad loose when the flaps are down. The brim is of a nice size; not to big, yet blocks the sun. Flaps will cover the ears and keep the wind out. Holds it shape well, regardless of how I crunched it up. I expect several years of service from this hat."
