"Gore Tex is the best ... Too much sun makes Dermatoligist rich ... so, good hats (not caps) saves you money & pain/danger of skin cancer. Plus, it keeps my hearing aids dry ... yep, when I was younger and indestructible, I didn't always use hearing protection.... so I now have electronic muffs, plus a spare pair for students when I'm teaching firearms. bd"

"if you have read the other reviews then you know that only the crown in gore-tex. I did not have a problem with that but a word of caution- they seem to run small. If you measure your head and then order that measurement -- it is the max the hat is so if you are 22 inches and order a hat that is 22 to 22.5 it will be SNUG with no room for a a face mask or anything. I ordered an extra large for a skinny 15 year old kid and he could have used a larger size."

"The review dated 04Jan09 states they don't like the shell loops. I don't think your ammo is going to ride to well up there! Those are loops to put vegetation in, for camoflauge.
I like the suggestion from the 05Aug09 review, about using the polyurethane paint. I was waiting for Cabela's to correct the problem of the Gore-tex not being on the brim of the hat. But couldn't wait, so I'll try the poly paint."

"With a simple modification, this can be a terrific rain hat. As sold, the wet brim rim wicks back to the head and drips down the neck. This can be fixed by painting a ring of polyurethane paint on the underside of the rim. The outer half of the rim is plenty. An added benefit is additional stiffening. Fold the hat sideways when stuffed in your pack. You will never use a rain hood again! Great for sun protection, and with netting, mosquitoes. (I wish they sold netting for this.)"
