"I used the snake for the first time to clean a .22 rifle. I started with a standard brass brush, followed by the bore snake. I followed the snake's instructions, and ran it down the barrel several times. The barrel looked clean. To check it out, I ran a regular patch through, and it came out about half-dirty. I was pretty surprided. I finished up with a regular rod and patches. The snake did cut down on the number of patches I normally use.
The snake includes a brass-brush built into the snake. I would prefer to use a separate brush.
Probably good for a quick run through out on the range, but a real thorough cleaning still needs the rod and patch."

"Yes, if you have multiple weapons in different calibers these can get expensive, but the ease of cleaning the barrel is so worth the money if you shoot at the range a lot. I have one for my 12Ga and for my .223 and when I pack my bag for the range I keep this with me. After so many rounds its a snap just to run this through the barrel once and I'm good to keep shooting for a while longer."

"I recently purchased the Boresnake for .380, 30-06 and 45-70. Where has this thing been. Cleaning is as simple as one pass through the bore. Now that I know how easy the Boresnake makes firearms cleaning, I will order one for 12 and 20 gauge also. If you target shoot, hunt or just plink, you cannot miss out on this one.
