"Just finished my fourth season in MT hunting with these boots. We do a lot of walking over varied terrain and they are the most comfortable boots I've ever owned. I've never had any pinches, rubs, hot spots etc. from them. Only reason I don't give them 5 stars is that I had a sole begin to peel off last year and had to have it reglued by a cobbler. That said, they're fine now and I'll definately be buying another pair when these are worn out."

"I use these boots for work everyday. They are the only boot that I can put on right out of the box and never have to break them in. I also used these boots on a recent trip to South Africa to spot and stalk plains game with a bow. Very comfortable on any terrain.

"Purchased 10.5 EE (wide). Excellent quality. Comfortable with great support. These do require a reasonable break in period for boots this soft. Tongue requires a lot of manual dexterity to get it trained correctly. This is especially important during break in for long term comfort.
Well worth the effort and price. Still made in Portland, Oregon. You gotta love that. Go U.S.A."

"I have hunted chukars for over 10 years in some of the roughest country, and I have worn at least 4 other brands of boots. None come close to the fit and and endurance of these boots. I do have a rather narrow foot, and the Elk Hunter last seems to be custom made for me. I treat the leather with 2 hand rubbed applications of bees wax and this really softens and protects the boots. Danners ...wow, what a boot!"

"definetly the best fitting pair of boots I have ever bought, I have a hard time getting a good fit from most boots but the lace to toe and general fit of these boots make me smile. Working as a municipal tree worker I put these boots to the test, lots of asphault and tree bark abuse on a daily basis."

"Great boot, have had numerous Danners and these maintain their quality standards. They do however, need to be broken in well before you intend to head to the mountains with them and do need a good sock to help with a little more cushioning in the foot bed. A very traditional boot."

"These are perfect boots for summer travels in the Rocky Mountains. The soles and heel are stout enough for off trail mountain terrain. I also don't mind if they leak a little in wet terrain because these are summer boots and goretex is to hot for me this time of year. I don't like the bootie style entry and the material inside tends to be a little ruff on my feet with certain sox I have. I would like to see this boot with a traditional tongue and leather interior."

"The boots so far are very comfortable and really have contoured to my feet. The only thing that I was not ready for was how long it took to break them in. "These boots are great looking and have a good tread pattern which self cleans with a few taps. The soles do mark so be careful. I have had them one week and have noticed they are going to need a long break in time. The tongue of the boot needs to be trained the first wear time or it will bother you until you wet it and relace. The leather is top quality and looks so good I don't want to apply boot dressing. Most comfortable with mid weight socks. The unlined version could use a smaller tongue (in width). Overall, I would give them five stars, but the price, the marking sole, and the hard to "train" tongue holds me back. Still, they are the best looking boots I've seen in a long time."

"I bought a pair of these boots about 8 years ago and I wear them for everything. Of course they are going to get wet if your in the water, of course your feet will get cold in extreme cold conditions, and the best thing is they dry out fast and still feel like new after. These boots have seen desert conditions in southern California and have endured the harshest winters in Washington. All I need to have done to them after 8 years is have them re-soled. Best boots ever!"

"I purchased a pair of the elk hunters about a year ago. I bought them because they look good,and they are Danners so I felt good about the purchase. I wore them hunting in Texas and they were fine ( no rain, Dry conditions) I have since wore them while it is wet and they leak, I have water proufed them and they still leak. And in the pictures in the catalog the lacing looks good,now I may have narrow feet or something but when you pull the lacing tight the sides of the boots almost touch and the eye lets are very small and a little difficult to lace , the lacings fall out easily. I think there are better boots in this price range so think hard before you buy a pair od elk hunters."

"Great boot, comfortable and doesn't get too hot and the laces down to the toes allow you to tighten the boot so your toes don't get hammered in when you are walking downhill. The soles are great, they grip good on everything but wear easily if you use them on pavement. I only use these for hunting and nothing else so they should last a long time. Take care."

"I was elk hunting in ID the wilderness for 11 days. I purchased the boots ahead of time, waterproofed with appropriate Danner product despite the gore tex membrane and broke them in. My feet were wet for several days during my trip before getting back to base camp to change out. The boots loosened up badly and lost support when wet as well. This made sidehilling very difficult. I expected much more from this product."

"The most comfortable out of the box boot I have owned. I have used mine two archery-elk seasons now in Eastern MT. and I am very pleased with their comfort and amazing traction on most sufraces (shale, soil, clay-mud, sand, etc). However, one needs to watch their step on wet rocks with these boots! I bought the unlined version and my feed DO get wet (my fault for not waterproofing them). One other small issue - I'd like to see a "deeper" eyelet (like found on White brand boots) as my bootlaces come undone frequently inpart due to a shollow eyelet on this boot and my large calves. Great boot - I'll buy them again!"
