Greatest boots I've ever owned.,October 4, 2007
By leroybfrom Spokane, WA
"I am now on my second pair of Ibex boots and don't think I'll ever choose any other hunting boot product, ever. The overall rigidity of the boot from the sole up through the ankles make steep terrain a piece of cake - even for a guy with bad ankles from sports injuries, and they are light enough that I can hike all day - even upland bird hunting - with minimal fatigue. The best thing about these boots, however, is that after a full day of hunting you don't have to wrestle to get them off your feet. These are the best boots around - and you can't beat the price!"

Good boot, poor sizing,November 11, 2009
By jbravo103from Bismarck, ND
"After my Irish Setters wore out I decided to try the Ibex. I wanted something rugged and supportive for hunting in the Badlands, yet comfortable enough for hiking around fields and river bottoms. I ordered a size 9.5 since that is my typical sneaker size. After getting the boots I quickly discovered they were much too big. They fit nice in the heel but were excessive between my toe tips and the front. I sent them back for a size 9. The 9's were still too big and I promptly sent them back and gave up on guessing the right size.
Through my limited use I thought the boots were well made and had serious support - too much support for what I was after. They are very stiff and most likely would take many hunting trips before feeling "broke in". I would have given them 4 stars had it not been for the sizing hassle. I would suggest this boot for rugged terrain, but are probably not the best choice for lighter duty."

"These seem to run large by 1/2 size. Else, NICE job. The knob bottom releases mud etc easilier than the waffle pattern. No complaints with this one..."

really great hunting boots,October 25, 2009
By olliebirdfrom Virginia Beach, VA
"This is the best pair of boots that I have ever owned. Took them out of the box, tried them on, wore them for 20 minutes, then hunted in them next day. After all day on my feet in new boots, feet felt great, boots were perfect. It's Meindl for me from now on."

"Our family - Dad, Mom, two sons - have worn these boots for over 20 years. When they finally wear out, after many miles, we re-order a new pair. They are extremely comfortable and durable. We all say they are the best boots we have ever had."

Great boot,September 17, 2009
By dbf1from Utah
"I'm on my 2nd pair of these boots. They are they only boot I've owned that I've never gotten a blister from. I wore out the 1st pair mostly doing 50 to 80 mile hikes in the mountains. Lots of rock climbing and going through marsh areas. At first my feet would lose circulation until I loosened the laces on the toe area. (I was used to having to tighten my boots up to try and keep the heel from rubbing.) To never have a blister again is well worth the money."

Meindl Ibex boots,August 30, 2009
By Ibexgreatboots
"I've bought a lot of things from Cabelas. This is the first product that impressed me enough to write a review. I just got these boots and they fit great right out of the box. My hunt is in two weeks so I needed to get on them right away just in case they needed to be broken in. Today I did an hour of P90X plyometric training (high impact jump training that I've only did in my sneakers until now) with the boots and they felt great the whole time. No hot spots at all and am convinced they need no breaking in. I've tried the Full Draw which is a clunky non supportive boot in comparison, and the Vasque Breeze lite, somewhat supportive but has uncomfortable hotspots. I'm 6' 170lbs with mid to thin feet and these boots fit great. I added middle arch feet supports which filled the boots out even better. I am an 11 and these fit true to size. I used lighter style crossovers before and they didn't offer me enough support for my style of hunting, covering a lot of ground with a heavy pack and moving quick when necessary. I was afraid of boots slowing me down and being uncomfortable until now."

Sole Failure,June 25, 2009
By Ohiobearhunterfrom Cincinnati, OH
"These boots are very comfortable and give great ankle support.
I have had them for a number of years and with very limited wear. Just last week the sole seperated from the boot just like a pair of Canada hunting boots by Meindl had done the week before."

Great Tough Boots,January 6, 2009
By ShepherdBfrom Virginia
"These boots have exceeded my expectations. I wear boots daily because my day job has to do with land development and my night and weekend job is farming. I need boots that are versatile enough to wear on undeveloped brushy, overgrown, rocky land and a boot that can take the abuse dished out by a small farm. I also hunt and spend a lot of time outdoors. I typically go through a pair of work boots about every 9 months: either the soles wear down or peel off from the boot or the leather cracks and falls apart.
The other day I got to thinking that I've had these boots nearly two years and the soles look great and there are no cracks in the leather. They've taken a lot of abuse from the farm and work and are still comfortable and are holding up fine. All I've done to take care of them is apply a little mink oil every couple of months and I've replaced the boot laces twice. Routinely, the boots are ankle deep in manure, walking over rocky and brushy ground, digging ditches, and shoveling barn debris. I even wear them to shear sheep (if you've done this, you know it is a filthy and tough job). I've crossed streams and swampy ground and have never had wet feet. The only time they've been wet on the inside is when I was working in a heavy downpour and my trousers became soaked and the water entered down my legs. Only took a day to dry out. My feet stay warm with temps freezing and above. I don't wear these in extreme cold while stationary hunting in a tree stand or ground blind.
Comfort, toughness and versatility. I'm impressed by these boots. My search for the ulitmate boots may be over.
If I ever have to buy another pair, I'll buy these again. Hopefully they'll still be made by those great boot makers in Germany."

Finally worn out,January 1, 2009
By Retiredlineman15yearsfrom Central Washington State in the mountains
"I purchased this boot over 25 years ago. I have used them in all kinds of weather from summer hiking on and off the job, hunting and fishing. They have served my every need from climbing poles, with lineman hooks on, to snowshoeing, wading through 5 inches of COOOLD stream water to snowmobiling. My feet have never been cold, cool maybe, but never cold. They have never had a water leak through any seam. The only repairs that I had to do was to have the seam at the back, above the heel sewn up. The stitches had worn out from my hook straps. Even after the repairs they did not leak. Apparently the way the boots were repaired was with a waxed thread that sealed the needle holes. I would highly recommend this boot for any of the above mentioned uses or maybe any other that you could think of."

"Steep canyons, thick brush, rock, rock and more rock characterized my Coues Whitetail hunt in the Pinaleno Mountains of SE Arizona this year. I hiked an average of 4 miles a day in some of the worst terrain in the South West and everyday, several times a day I thanked God for my boots. I would not have survived without them. I can't imagine every owning any other boot. Thank you Mendl!"

stiff boots,December 2, 2008
By barkirfrom b.c. canada
"this is my first pair of meindl boots and have found them to take a lot of walking to break them in as they are fairly stiff. the first few times i wore them my ankles and feet were very sore however they seem to be getting better all the time.so far these boots have been very warm and dry in winter conditions in canada, they are also very easy to put on and off,but as was mentioned in an other review they seem to be fairly slippery, but will know more as i get some more use out of them."

Ibex Boot,November 21, 2008
By fraxinusalbafrom West Virginia
"Pros - Well padded tongue and upper from ankle to top of boot. Large gusset so easy to put on and take off plus gusset folds to outside (gusset sewn in to about 1" below top of boot). Flex joint just above heel. Wide spacing of loops and hooks so boot can be snugly fitted to foot, ankle, and leg. Lug sole gives good traction.
Cons - Boots are stiff and hard to break in. There's some sort of stiff insert that runs from heel to toe below the ankle making the foot part stiff and uncomfortable. Locking hooks are attached at the bottom of the instep flex joint and press on your foot when walking up steep ground - may have been better if these hooks were placed a little further up toward the ankle. Maybe its a manufacturing defect but the gusset on both boots on both sides of the tongue had a fold sewn in it that makes a pressure point. The gusset is nylon and the pressure points have decreased somewhat with wear.
This was a very hard boot to break in. I wore them for 2 hours doing yard work the first time and it was all my feet could stand. It took about 10 hours of wear before I could keep them on for more than 2 hours at a time. Took about 40 hours of wear before I could keep them on all day and they still weren't comfortable.
I bought these boots for everyday wear. Maybe with time I'll have a little better opinion of them but right now, I wouldn't buy another pair."

Meindl hunting boots are great,November 17, 2008
By sandjaifrom Sparwood, B.C Canada
"This is my first pair of hunting boots and I will buy this brand again. However, they do fit large, thank goodness for product reviews, I ordered a half size smaller. My only other complaint is that the laces are to small for the boot, I like a longer lace. On the positive side my feet are warm in colder weather, and not hot in warmer weather. I recommend this boot as they are comfortable and I didn't have to break them in."

great boots,October 28, 2008
By ElkHunter2713from North West Wisconsin
"This is the second pair of these boots I have purchased. Both pairs fit great and took almost no time to break in. My first pair lasted through 5 years of Elk, Deer, and Pheasant hunting as well as weekend construction projects, etc. Those boots stayed waterproof through the first 4 years and are just now starting to leak a bit. I liked them so much I didn't even look at any others this time around."

Good for a while,October 28, 2008

"I bought these boots a few years ago. At the time they were the most comfortalble boot I had. Unfortunately with only about 25 hunting days on them both soles fell off. (I only hunt about 5-10 day per year) Comfortable = yes, Durable = BIG NO!"
