"Needed a hat that would be usable in all weather conditions especially rain or snow. This hat was put to the test a week later and passed with with flying colors. Rained for the better part of a week and I had property to manage. Every night I was glad for the purchase."

"Outback Trading Co. out of Pennsylvania makes this great hat. It is truly a piece of trail equipment built for the outdoors and all types of exposure with the rugged oilskin construction and leather chin chord. I wear it on the trail both hiking and on horseback. I found the wide brim great for exposure protection but a bit wide for rifle or shotgun hunting but there are plenty of other hats for this type of use (that's just me though, you might like it fine). Highly recommend also getting Outback's Duckback Dressing for extra water resistance for oilskin products. It also works on regular canvas/cotton gear."

"Most hats don't fit my head but there largest size does the trick. I was very impressed by the quality of workmanship for the price.
As I live in the Pacific Northwest and fish all seasons I will benefit from its obvious rain and sun protection design."

"The Kodiak Oilskin hat is a good deal. It offers comfort and shade at an affordable price. Only two things to keep in mind, the chin strap can get in the way if you are very active, and it does not breath as well as other hats."

"Just what I needed. fit is a little loose, but can be tightened with the chin strap.I have never gotten my complements about a hat as i do with this hat. I never take it off now. Keeps the sun off my face and doesn't feel too heavy."

"Where I live, it rains hard and frequently. To get anything done on the property, working in the rain is necessary. A baseball cap doesn't cut it, but the Outback Kodiak Oilskin Hat gets it done. I am very pleased with the hat, it performs better than I anticipated. My wife likes how I look with it on - what a deal!"

"The hat does what a hat is really for, keeping the sun and rain off of your face and head.
A solid brimmed hat came in a very nice package to prevent damage. The hat also matches the oilskin coat made by the same company perfectly.
I got to use the hat in a heavy rain and it performed. If you're looking for this type of hat I definitely recommend this one."

"I wanted this hat for bad weather and so far I absolutely love it. I would say the size may run a little big or at least mine did. I am a medium (7-1/8) but the sides were a little loose. I fixed it with a little band pad. Now it fits perfect and I'm yet to have it blown off my head. I've only had the hat for about a month so far but I wear it whenever I go out. I cannot comment on how it is in the rain yet as it's still winter here but it takes snow with no problem (ha-ha). I like the wider flat brim. I know some reviewers prefer more shape but I like the flatter style. The strap is the only part that's a little odd to me as I haven't had a strap on a hat since I was a toddler. But I'm sure it will come in handy during really bad weather.
Overall, I would say this is an excellent value and a very attractive hat."

"I got the hat for my Dad for Xmas. He asked for and 'Indiana Jones' style hat and was quite happy with this. I haven't seen it on him yet because I sent it out of state, but my Mom said 'It looks great!'"
