Worked great,October 1, 2009
By Eugnsuzfrom Boise, ID
"We used this decoy in a number of set ups this archery season and we didn't run into any big bulls, but we had a lot of cows and calves that came into our set ups. They came right in without hesitation. I actually had two calves come in together and had both of them at about 2 yards. Hopefully next year we'll find some bulls to attract with the decoy."

"Concept is good. Metal ring that holds the decoys shape will break and puncture the fabric. Decoy is useless after ring breaks."

Cow Elk III Decoy,September 10, 2009
By AnglingEngineer2from Denver, CO
"Had this decoy in the woods last week. Packability was easy. Set up time and breakdown time manageable. We found that once we closed in on the herd it was better to leave set up and carry, which was awkward. The thing almost needs a tote handle for moving around set-up.
We were able to pull elk off the herd with this, but since we were hunting in dark timber, the trick was to get it set up in a visable spot. Would recommend getting a couple elk rump decoy's for those situations."

montana cow elk decoy,October 3, 2008
By bownelkfrom Georgia
"For starters, the decoy looks very life-like, especially at about thirty yards or more. The durability is the only downfall. After only the second or third use the metal band broke, due to being folded up. I removed the band and repaired it, only to have it come apart after the next time I tried to fold it up. Not what I expected!"

cow decoy,September 22, 2008
By keeptrynfrom Hardhunting, Oregon
"Easy to pack around. Quick to set up. I had a few cows stare at it for a few minutes, but it did not pull them in. It really fooled a hicker. If the wind is blowing don't bother. I would use close to my treestand. I still have some season left it just might do the trick."

"I tried to fold this up for the 1st time, and it broke on the wire joint. I Couldn't get it back together. I go hunting next week and don't have time to get another. Was very disappointed. It looked like it would be a great product if it wasn't for that"

elk lover,July 5, 2008
By Bigfoot56from Montana
"This product works so well, to date it has brought in 2 rifle hunters, who shot at the decoy 3 times during the archery season. All shoots missed thank god. Do not set behind decoy, always set to the side. I had 3 bulls come into decoy at one time, I missed the 50 yard shot at one of the bulls. All 3 bulls ran about 125 yards and called back to the cow. I used a cow call to try and bring the bulls back, but sense the cow did not move the bulls quickly lost interest. Horses and beef bulls hate the decoys and will stomp them into the ground, but it does not do any damage to decoys. Wind and hard ground are a problem. Big herd bulls will not leave a herd to check them out, so this year I bought a herd, 2 butts and 2 cows. The decoys are very easy to pack and set up, even in the dark. I use the backpack that Montana decoy sells, then tie the backpack the outside of my day pack."

Get it!,October 24, 2007
By Krusherxxfrom Monterey, CA
"I was skeptical until the first time I used the decoy. I was on an archery Tule Elk hunt in California this year hunting in fairly open country. I carried the decoy without the poles in one hand and squatted behind it to move across open country at a distance without spooking elk. The first time I set it up and cow-called a bull ran from the opposite ridge at a full charge to within 30 yards of the decoy. Later I had a huge herd bull approach to with 10 yards of it bugling the whole time. I would recommend putting cow elk urine on it. I also didn't use the poles, I tied some 550 cord to the ears and hung it from a tree branch. The decoy sways a little in the wind but it seems to make it more life-like. I am thinking of sewing small pockets to the bottom of the legs to put rocks in to hold in down better."

Elk Decoy Hunting,September 21, 2007
By lflat10from Montrose CO
"I have never hunted Elk using a decoy. I 've been hunting elk in Western Colorado for 25 years now. I hunted during the muzzleloading season which is during the rut. Interestingly enough, I got more curious inquiries from calves and cows more than I did Bulls. I believe though that the satellite Bulls were more inclined to relax a bit as they came to calls. No herd Bull came to see. I wonder if buying 6 or 7 of these decoys would change things?
Packing it around was a breeze. Setup was simple even in the dark. Frozen ground was an issue one morning. One evening was windy and that detracted from it's realism because of it flagging in the breeze. I put it against some aspen trees and that took care of that.
I actually hate sharing this info as it may become too well used in Western Colorado, but hey, I got a head start on ya!!!
