"This is a very realistic looking decoy. It really gets the attention of bull elk. It does take some time setting up and risk making more noise possibly spooking unseen animals, but that is the choice one has to make at the time. I would like to see the leg stakes made with lighter material as the current ones are too bulky & heavy, when added to the rest of the the gear needed for an all day elk hunt. Make lighter legs and it gets a 5 star."

I'm impressed,October 11, 2009
By Slower1from Los Baos, CA
"As a novice elk hunter, I went on my first bowhunt to Idaho this year (09). First morning out we called in a nice 5x5 that I let pass. We had spotted the bull at about 580 yards. Three yelps with a cow call and he came right in. That alone, was woth the hunt. I also had a chance at a 4x5 but didn't like the shot. I ended up taking a cow calf that came right into the decoy. In my opinion, this thing really worked. I thought it was easy to set up and take down. I carried it in my back pack most of the time. I am ordering a mule deer doe decoy and will most likely get another elk decoy for next year."

3 Setups, 2 Elk,November 18, 2008
By DanMarCofrom Colorado
"I'm sold on these - we use 2 decoys - rump and side view. This past season my partner and I set up three times and harvested two elk. One cow, one bull. Guess the third time there were no elk in the neighborhood.
They seem to be quite effective for drawing elk out of the timber (but don't place them more than 50 yds from the timber), and other high visibility areas. Since I've only used them 3 times (we filled our tags), I'm no expert but the combination of calling and decoy are killer.
Another interesting fact, when the cow was shot, after a couple of chirps she turned around laid down with the decoys.
I feel the basic setup rates 5 stars, but I have made new poles from discarded carbon arrows in order to save weight. Additionally, hanging the rump from a willow tree (mmmm, willows) with monofiliment works too."

Best decoy out there,November 13, 2008
By Rockymtnxfrom Alberta Canada
"Great life like decoy. Deer will come right up to it an sniff the decoy. Easy set up. Folds up small to take very little space. The Montana decoy takes wind much better than other cardboard style decoys. Would recommend Montana decoys for anyone. I will be purchasing more of them in the future."

"I have used this decoy on a couple of hunts and can't wait until the rut hit's full swing. this decoy looks so life like that it would fool anyone walking near it. I even took a picture of it from my tree stand and showed it to my wife and she thought it was a real doe, come on rut."

Montana Whitetail Decoy,November 4, 2008
By CountryGentlemanfrom NW Ohio
"In four days in the field we had deer sightings three times. Deer came right up to the decoy two of those days. They got about 12 - 15 feet from the decoy and got a bit startled that they were not seeing a real deer. Missed the Buck and passed on the Doe(s)"

Good Idea but Bad Quality,September 28, 2008
By HornsAndFinsfrom Oregon
"I purchased a Montana Decoy only to have it rip after only a few days. I exchanged the decoy with another one that only lasted the first trip and is ripping again. Both rips are right on the sewing seams. The quality of the stiching doesn't seem to be there. The decoy looks great and folds nice but my experience with the quality of the stiching would keep me away from buying another one."

Montana Elk decoy 1,September 23, 2008
By Anonymousfrom Wyoming
"When I received my Montana Elk Decoy I was totally disapointed. While the decoy was what I wanted the workman ship of the item was totally bad. The seams were all crooked, The head where it was connected to the steel band had holes in it, the seams for the legs were so crooked I could not get the rear leg into it. As I received this 2 days before my elk hunt, I did not have time to return it so I went ahead and used it (After some alterations to make it work). One of my partners had also ordered the same decoy from cabelas and it was in perfect shape. I must have received a used or second, either way I was unhappy with the decoys workman ship and will never order or buy another."

Not sure,August 25, 2008
By Anonymousfrom Idaho, ID
"I have hunted Antelope always from a blind on water holes and have done very well. the only trubble is you don't know what your going to end up shooting. I have had small bucks come in and have let them walk waiting for that big buck then at the end of the season I end up shooting a doe. I hunted last year and saw all kinds of big bucks chasing doe. I hard that if you wave a white flag in the air the bucks will come over to you, well I was bord and tried it. With in a few min. a buck was running right at me but stopped about 70 yards out. I am hopping this decoy helps the buck to come in 40 more yards. it lookes good and is big enough to hide behind."

Cow Elk Decoy,August 2, 2008
By jadams92002from Bainbridge, GA
"We were bow hunting and I had a Montana cow elk decoy in a meadow when it was shot twice by two hunters with muzzle loaders. They were about 100 yards from the decoy with binoculars and scopes and still couldn't tell the difference between the decoy and the reel thing. We were only 20 yards from the decoy when it was shot so for safety reasons I now put it out well away from me. The next day I shot a 6x6 bull in a different meadow using the same decoy with two holes in it."

Cow elk I,June 25, 2008
By Growlingbearfrom Payson, AZ
"Pictures are worth a thousand words, when it comes down to it! This decoy is very poorly engineered. Even at 50 yards you can see all the flaws and wrinkles in the polyester fabric....I forget to take my iron with me. This is truly made for the city slicker hunters. Don't waste your money on this kite, when it blows it will fly away."

Montana Decoy,January 29, 2008
By BigBuck10ptfrom Grand Rapids, MI
"Great decoy for the money! First time I used it I set it up 60 yards behind me in the corner of a bean field. After it broke light, I was scanning the area for deer and was startled when I looked behind me to see a deer had worked its way in behind me...hello, it took a couple seconds for it to dawn on me that it was MY decoy. Very life like. It does however take a little bit to set it up especially if it's cold and you're trying to do it with gloves on. Packs up nicely in a packback and is very mobile."

Whitetail Doe Decoy,January 16, 2008
By BWIowafrom IOWA
"I think these things are kind of expensive for what they are, but I think that about all hunting toys. They are very light and compact and very realistic for a 2 dimensional decoy. I have jumped more than once when catching it out of my peripheral vision. Fairly well made, but be careful pushing the stakes in frozen ground. Have had pretty good success with it, even caught one hunter's eye while passing by. I started to wonder if he was going to shoot it. The only con I have experienced is the wind jerking it abnormally. It has spooked nearby deer on occasion. I think you can get a good value out of one."

Montana decoy,October 4, 2007
By moosewhackerfrom Alberta
"Had a chance to use the Montana decoy but was not real impressed with it. It did look fine and the one time I actually had a chance to use it, an antelope did come within bow range (12 yds). However he wasn't the one I was looking for. The first time we used the decoy we had to crawl up a rise so had the decoy folded up. When we tried to get the stakes into the cloth decoy, it was very difficult due to a strong wind and small holes in the cloth decoy to hit. Once we got it set up it was fine. When we took it down the elastic bunge cord in the stake broke and we lost the bottom on the stake. We did manage to go back and find it but then the rest of the time we had to keep the decoy assemled when making a stalk which made it a little more difficult to crawl. By the end of day two I threw the decoy away."

Elk decoys,September 25, 2007
By GilandRandyfrom Seminole, OK
"We bought 2 elk decoys, the rump and a standing cow. If there had been any elk near us we would know whether or not they worked. They looked good the only problem we had was folding the rump decoy."
