Whitetail Institute Imperial Whitetail Clover Blen,
July 25, 2009
By LeeW
from Gouverneur, NY
|
"The seed started very quickly and is growing well, it is already a couple of inches high in only about 6 weeks and the deer are starting to feed in it with no ill effects on the clover. It seems to recovery very quickly from the deer. Northern NY has had a rather cool summer with rain off and on."

"For average joe homeowner this stuff works pretty good. this is not a no plow variety but I first sprayed area with defoliant, a week later when everything was dead I spread seed and tilled in ground with a hand held weasel type tiller. It has been about two week and clover is coming in nice and thick."

ridiculous,
November 10, 2008
By MrDavison1

"I planted about a quarter acre of this in an area I fresly cleared with a bobcat, didn't till or lime. I backbladed the ground with the teeth from the bobcat fertilized and broadcast the seed. This was in early july, (wasn't planning on doing it just had the oppurtunity and went for it.) I am still in the early stages of food plotting and am looking for what works and what doesn't. I planted this plot side by side with biologic premium perennial. The comparison... a joke. At first I didn't think this stuff was any good. I didn't see any growth to speak of for the first month, and I didn't think it was going to be a good plot. Then we got a little rain...Boom! This stuff is sickening. It just exploded with growth, huge tops on the clover. There is deer on it every night, and this is now November. Also got a picture of a monster 4 and a half year old along with many other bucks does and fawns. I walked around the plot the other day, and they are just mauling this stuff, but there is plenty left as well. This without question will have a place in my food plot plantings... Permanently. I recommend giving it a try for yourself. Great product whitetail institute."

"I started my first plot of Imperial clover late in 2007 it came in fast and and healthy. This spring it was very thick and is doing great. The deer and turkey love the stuff . I have more deer this year than in the past, they are leaving my corn feeder alone and stay in the clover almost exclusively. I like this seed so much I'm planting more this fall."

Good stuff,
December 15, 2007
By hickerybluffsbowhunter

"Other than one pass with a tiller I put a 1/2 acre in and did everything else by myself. I limed and fertialized before planting. Harrowed with an ATV and right after that, we got record lows for about 3 days. I sprayed for weeds several times and cut 3 times with a lawnmower at the highest setting it had (about 5 inches). I lighly fertilized twice during the summer. When all was looking good the plot was accidently mowed for hay and cut very short about 1 Sept. Luckly we got some moisture and warm conditions for several weeks after that and the clover popped right back up. It looked great and deer were coming into it and staying. A couple of times I saw deer stay on the plot up to 1 1/2 hours during hunting season."

Did Good,

"I did a 1/3 acre plot and had little rain. Therefore it didn't come up good. I did a patch in my backyard and watered it daily. It came up in 3 weeks and is thick and is 8-12 inches tall. I did a side by side comparison with another clover blend and this blew it away!"

Whitetail Clover,
September 11, 2007
By ctracker60
from Brockport, NY
|
"After fully following the directions of this seed I had very low germination rate. I'm not sure why as the brassica seed from another company I planted came up just fine. I'm certainly not pleased with this lot of seed and feel I wasted my hard earned Cabela points in purchasing the product.
I have used Imperial Whitetail Clover it in the past with excellent results and can't understand why the germination rate was so low on this larger bag. I will be contacting hte Whitetail Institute about this issue."

IMPERIAL CLOVER,
August 23, 2007
By airmuinn
from LIVE IN OHIO AND HUNT 3 time per week.....
|
"Did every thing by the book. SOIL SAMPLE, ADDED LOTS OF LIME. USED 6-24-24 fertilizer as per soil sample. Worked the soil with a 7' tiller, waited about a week before seeding.
NOW SEEDING, this stuff is real small but did some math and figured out the amount for about 1,000 sqft at a time. Bottom line is (just like the tech reps at the institute said) just set my hand spreader at the smallest setting..
Rolled after seeding and walked away.
Then we went through a dry spell with very little rain. I was getting worried... BUT, after about two months of very little rain I was still getting a pretty good looking clover plot.
Now it's been about 4 months and it's all looking real good.
YOU GOT TO BE PATIENT...
Thumbs up on this stuff...
ken, Wilmington OH"

Imperial Whitetail Clover,
November 22, 2006
By Tbird
from Dillsboro, IN
|
"This fall I replanted 2 food plots totaling about 2 acres with Imperial Whitetail Clover. These plots had been previously planted with this same product 3 years ago. They still contained about 50 percent clover after this time with no chemical control. The deer seem to find these plots very desirable and I was well satisfied with the first planting however, my second bag had a lot of fine blue powder in it like you would use on chalk line. I sowed one acre and it turned my arms blue. My son-in-law sowed the 2nd acre and he was blue from head to toe. The first 25 pound bag didn't have this. What is the deal?"

Great clover,

"Imperial whitetail clover brings lot of does out in the afternoon the bucks stayed back in the woods till dark. I always planted with wheat in fall or with oats in the spring and it comes up great. The wheat or oats will die off but that gives the clover a GREAT start. The deer love it."
