too shakey, September 10, 2009
By don from mich

"I purchased the scope for my bow, I found the directions to be to vague, but my biggest problem was that when extending my arm out to shoot, I had trouble finding the dot, and it was way to shakey to be accurate, it might be fine on a firearm where you have a rest, but for a bow I wouldn't reccomend it"

Red Dot Sight, December 30, 2008
By Ibowhunt36 from Kansas

"I think the red dot sight would be fantastic if there were an easier way of setting it up on your bow. It is a very tedious(sp) precedure and not at all as easy as the directions indicate. I plan to return my sight to the store and go back to using a peep and pins to hunt with."

Just won't fit, November 26, 2008
By Bigjakes12 from Phoenix, AZ

"Thought this would be a great addition, but no matter how I try, I just can't make it fit. It hits the riser or is in the way of the arrow. Guess my PSE just wasn't made to have one of these bolted to the side of it. Can't really blame the product, but can't give it 5 stars either."

Great Product, November 14, 2008
By jschultzy23 from Defiance OH

"This is a great product. I am a college student and hardly ever make it back home to go hunting. I had a day off from school, and decided to go home and go hunting. I hadnt picked my bow up in more than 6 months. I shot it 2 times and it was still on the money. I went out the next morning and had a buck under me and I hit him perfectly. The one thing nice about this sight is the fact that my dad was able to help me sight it in. He and I shoot within inches of each other using the same bow and same sight. Something that isn't possible with sight pins. Also this proves that anchor point really isnt as important as it is with pins. Also this sight allows me to shoot a three inch circle even though I rarely shoot. I will not shoot at the same dot more than once because I hit my arrows upon occasion. With the expandable broadheads and carbon arrows this product is amazing. It may not be as good for bigger broadheads and bigger arrows but for the smaller arrows and broadheads it is great!!!"

not for hunting, February 8, 2008
By rrich from Kentucky

"Upon purchase of the product I had high hopes of it helping to correct the need for a rear sight alignment. This did not happen. Anchor pont is extremely crucial. When it was used in some hunting stuations, somewhat less than excellent, the lens appeared to fog up causing alignment problems. It is very important to mark all adjustments for future reference as the sight will drift from time to time. I do not recommend this sight to anyone that will be hunting in adverse weather conditions."

HHA Optimizer with Red Dot, November 13, 2007
By EaglesNest from Virginia

"This is a great product and I highly recommend it. The first deer/buck I pulled back on ended up in the back of the truck, nuff said. I put this sight on by myself and it really was not that hard but I can see where an extra set of hands would have helped. It took a little bit to get it sighted in and to get use to as well, not really too long. The benefit of not having to use a peep is why I went with this sight. In those crucial dawn/dusk minutes where you can see the deer but can't see through your peep sight to make a responsible shot this sight is just the best. Not only do you not have to try to see through a peep but the red dot illuminates to a very dim dot that is just great in low light scenarios. So if you are like me and would like to do away with your peep and seem to see quality deer in those critical moments of low light this is the ticket. I know it is a little pricey but if you can afford it don't hesitate go ahead and do yourself the favor you will not regret it. Thanks Cabelas."

Impressed so far., September 4, 2007
By wisc737 from Connorsville, WI - Bow hunting since the 50's

"First I want to thank all the previous review. Because of them I knew this scope would not be a piece of cake to set up. Yes, it would be easier with two people, but I managed to do it alone. It took me a couple days of shooting & adjusting before I started fine tuning. This is not like setting it up on a rifle. I had to establish new anchor points. I would not use the yardage adjustment because I only use one pin set at 20 yards. This scope allows me to keep both eyes open. I can also shoot with sunglasses. In bright light I find it best to have it turned all the way to 11. In low light you can have it turned down to a lower setting. I have only been using it for a couple weeks, but I see my grouping has improved. I have rated this a 4 only because I have not used it in a hunting situation yet."

Nightmare!, August 15, 2007
By CJBS2003 from Stafford, VA

"After spending an hour setting up the sight and bracket, I spent several more hours attempting to get the sight to work. It just would not shoot good groups I had to move my head all over to just get the red dot to even line up with the cross hairs. Save yourself the money, don't buy this! I decided to go with the hind sight and old fashion pin sights... Wish I would have just done that from the start!"

Nearly impossible, June 19, 2007
By Liegong from Portland, OR

"I received this for Father's day and was really excited. It looked good in the packaging but using it was another matter. I took nearly 2 hours to sight it in and never got it to my satisfaction. If you are adjusting for left/right, you need to move the entire scope while keeping it aligned for sighting. Also, it looks too cumbersome to use in a hunting situation. I need something that can be used in a moments notice. There is a two step process for using this if you are hunting. First remove the scope caps and then 2) adjust the yardage by loosening the yardage nut and sliding it to the correct yardage. Further, it wasn't nearly as solidly connected to my bow as I wanted. I was afraid that I might bump it and 1) send it off alignment or 2) bend the distance bracket and make it change alignment with different distances.
This might be useful for folks who have shots at predetermined yardage, but I can't seem to make the elk move to 20 yards no matter how I try. They always seem to move about.

not that great, April 18, 2007
By outdoornut151 from Ann Arbor, Michigan

"This year was my first year bow hunting. I missed chances at 3 bucks which were some of the biggest I have seen. With the front of the red dot being tinted it is hard to shoot in low light conditions. I switched right after bow season and hope that this year i can harvest one of the 3 I missed."

If I can see it, I can shoot it!, March 29, 2007
By hickerybluffsbowhunter from 57, male, Iowa, mostly bowhunts

"Each year in low light conditions finding my target through my peep was getting increasing worse. Last year I missed opportunities hunting where I could see ok until I drew back and tried to sight through the peep. I bought a very good fixed pin sight but still had issues so I decided to take my peep off and try the Red Dot. I have been using it for about 6 weeks now, mostly indoor shooting and I am starting to feel confident that it will do what I hoped; basically if I can see it I can shoot it. I shot outside last night in really low light conditions on an overcast night at a brown target and could lock in to the target with confidence to take the shot. Things to consider, taking off your peep removes one of your anchor points. Shooting with both eyes open makes it a lot easier to pull off your target whereas the peep kept you over your string longer. Its takes more practice and discipline to make good shots. This setup adds extra weight to your bow but I don't notice it that much. I am surprising pleased that the noise factor didn't increase and once locked down I have not had to keep tighten things up. The only issue I have had is that occasionally I loose the red dot because what I guess is vibration after 20 - 30 shots. I just move the brightness settings a couple of notches to make the dot reappear. I don not believe this will be an issue when hunting. Once thing you want to do is have someone help you out when you first try to sight in. It's pretty touchy, so mark everything when your done just incase something would move. I think the adjustable sight will help in long range shooting because I won't have the pins blaring together. I now feel if I can see it I can shoot it!"

BSA Red Dot Scope and Adjustable Yardage Bracket, November 22, 2006
By WCCII from Sterling Heights, Michigan

"I switched from a very expensive pin sight to this red dot scope with adjustable yardage bracket. I was concerned as to if I would like it, I LOVE it. With the BSA Red Dot scope I now can leave both eyes open, allowing me to see my target better and follow my arrow when I shoot. I will never be without it again!"
