Great but dous a number on targe,
November 3, 2009
By CapeCodMike
from Cape Cod, MA

"After 10 years of shooting mechanicals I finally found a fixed blade broadhead I could trust to shoot out of my newer model Hoyt compound bow (I shoot about 310 fps with my hunting arrow setup). The Montecs are dead nuts on out to 45 yards and the practice blades allow you to be certain your bow is shooting true. The practice heads are exact replicas of the real Montecs and fly identically.
The only problem I have found is that the practice blades will destroy a layered foam target when you pull them out. I actually just push the blades through, unscrew them and then pull the arrow out. It is a pain in the rear but it saves the target and I usually only shoot 12 or so practice shots a day.
One other thought - if you are switching from mechanicals to fixed blades the Montec is a great option and they fly identical to field points BUT it has been my experience that strong wind severely effects flight of almost all fixed blades including the Montec. I was shooting in a 25mph crosswind yesterday and at 40 yards could barely keep the arrows on the target. When the wind would calm down for a minute the Montec were dead on. Keep that in the back of your mind for what it is worth."

Great practice head,

"I just recently switched from mechanicals to fixed, and a very big concern was being consistent. These heads allow me to shoot these right with my field tips. When it comes time for the shot i will no doubts that where i am holding the pin is where the arrow will be hitting. That feeling is something that any true bow hunter can not put a price on. Invest in these heads first, then buy the montecs last. Its the best investment you can make."

target gutter,

By deadwoodpetey

"Flies great, duplicate of the g5 monte, except since nothing is sharpened on it , including the back side edges, when you pull the arrow out of the target it grabs a good amount of target guts with it. I used it on a block and glendale and it was destroying them. I switched to the real thing and it did much less damage as it cut as it was pulled out. I wasted my money buying the practice heads."

Great Product,

"These practice broadheads allow you to tune your bow just like if you had sharpened braodheads on your arrows. They fly exactly the same. They could be priced a tad bit less, considering that there is no cost in sharpening them. They are also black oxide coated, which allows you to easily distingish them from the sharpen variety."

Completely Satisfied,
November 11, 2008
By ksbowhntr

"I heard great things about this broadhead, so I gave the G5 a try for the first time this season. On November 10th I shot a nice P&Y Kansas 9 point at 20 yards and this Montec broadhead ate him up. A double lung full pass through shot that had vitals hanging out of the exit wound. There was a great blood trail, but it wasn't necessary because the bruiser only ran about 60 yards. For what it's worth the G5 is my broadhead of choice."

"Bought these along with the real broadhead. Both yieled a very unaccurate "grouping". If the montecs work for you get these. They do tear up your solid block targets, all you need to do is sharpen the back edges and the problem is solved."

"Don't waist you money on this product. Flight is nothing like your regular field tips. Removing your arrows from any target will destroy it in little time in you don't pull the inserts out first. Would not recommend this product to anyone."
