    A great starter, July 23, 2009
By Archimand from Bay Area CA

"My wife and I are field target newbies, and we wanted an inexpensive starter bow. Borrowing a local club's gear, we realized we're only able to control a 25# so far, and we liked the Ragim Ranger, but couldn't find one. This was our first/best alternative, and it fits us quite well -- shoots easy, assembles easy, and the equipment matches our comfort level. The Buckeye doesn't feel cheap or cheesy; it's well-made and while it lacks flash, the only thing it says at the range is "Everybody starts out somewhere." When we advance to fancier gear and stronger pulls, we will hold onto this as a loaner bow for friends who might like to shoot with us.

We prefer to shoot off the shelf, so we ditched the stick-on arrow rest and added a BearHair strip and cut it to fit. We're very happy with that solution.

Cabela's shipped our bow and several accessories quickly and safely; it was here before I knew it.

    Whoah, what a bow!, May 21, 2009
By sparrow5600 from San Antonio, TX

"VERY impressed with the 30# PSE Buckeye. Smooth, accurate, solid, zero vibration. Got it for my 77 yr old Dad who spends 1-2 hours a day practicing in his yard. I've shot lots of bows and the Buckeye is hands-down the best combination of value and quality. DEFINITELY recommend it to any level shooter."

great youth bow, January 16, 2009
    By bigtimepartridgehunter from Vermont

"I bought this bow because it looked good and it sounded like that from what other people said about. It really is a good bow. this is my first bow i have ever bought and i am happy about what i have bought. me being a youth hunter i really like it. i bought some youth Gold Tip arrows with and they work really well with the bow. the arrow rest came off but they are sending me a replecment one. i belive it happened because i was shooting when it was 8 F out. so don't do the same with yours. i didn't take a star off because it was really my own fault not the product.

overall this an amazing buy and it is proving to be very accurate. i can put 7/7 arrows on the carboard piece that is under a frozen pizza. they are also in a tight group

thanks cabelas, and i hope this helps future buyers

PSE Buckeye Recurve Bow, January 6, 2009
By Eliza1 from Columbia County, NY

"I found the PSE Buckeye Recurve Bow an incredible buy for the money. The quality is in keeping with where it was manufactured in Italy. It has considerable power, accuracy and distance abilities. The weight, balance and comfort of the grip on the riser is second to none of the others I have tried out in this price range and higher. And as a rather short woman comfort is key. Shipping was also very swift and did not keep me waiting. I just wish a bow as nice as this having been made in Italy would have had a cooler model name like Donna Bella or Stealth or what ever rather than Buckeye. The name does not do this bow justice. Just my little pet peeve.
In conclusion I would with out a doubt greatly recommend this bow to others.

"While it is the middle of December here, and we have not had the chance to actually use our bows, (one for me and one for the wife), the product was absolulely great!! Workmanship and quality was more than I expected. I am sure that we both will have fun killing our bails of straw traget shooting!!"

Great Starter Bow, September 9, 2008
By Anonymous from Location - Honolulu, HI USA

"Bought this bow for my girlfriend and I to try archery. It works great and seems to be built well. Experienced archers
I have talked to have agreed it is a good piece of equipment.
My only complaint is the lack of information supplied. Some basic archery tips would be nice as this is equipment probably
purchased by a newbie. Some suggestions as to the type of arrows that would be appropriate to use would be handy.
    Otherwise a great value.

    Recurved Bow, August 4, 2008
    By Hemipower57 from Winnipeg MB

"Nice finish on upper and lower limbs, hand grip is comfortable and great price. However, the shaft rest is not up to par with the overall workmanship of the bow. It does shoot straight and accurate. I have replaced the rest with an after market one from a different manufacturer."

Not enough info, June 16, 2008
    By LisaHW from Maine

"The only info given for this bow, to a beginner bowman, was that it was left or right handed. Bows should be purchased based upon left-or-right dominant eye.
Also, this bow broke within 15 uses of it. It did not come with an arrow plate or a bow stringer, both of which are tantamount to this bow working properly.
VERY DISAPPOINTED. This was purchased for my 14 yr old son's birthday.

Well worth the money., April 7, 2008
    By Iowaborn

"I bought this bow for my wife and it has been perfect for her. Not only is she enjoying shooting it but I shoot it often to work on my release and my overall form. I am considering purchasing another one of a higher draw weight for my son and son-in-law to shoot.
I wish I had purchased one sooner. Overall well pleased for the money that it cost.

Bows and Arrows in the West of Ireland, January 16, 2008
By uinseann from Galway, Ireland, beside the sea

"I am new to archery but I must say I am enjoying very much my Buckeye Recurve Bow. It makes me walk to retrieve the arrows as they go so far away! This a starter bow for a beginner and in hindsight I should have bought a bow whose dacron string is more difficult or requires more strength to pull it back. As it is I can pull back to the tip of the arrow without too much effort. I think this is about 30lbs of pressure. I should have gone for a bow of maybe 40-60 lbs of pull back pressure to be more challenged.
I am of average strenght and an adult male.
Shortcomings (forgive the absence of technical terms) The plastic holder that supports the arrow pre-flight is very weak and broke after not to many shots. I had to rig a replacement myself. The glue does not hold it well to the stock and you would need to use a better bonding glue to ensure that this support stays in place.
No advice is given on length, weight or type of arrow that you should use in the documentation that comes with the Buckeye. Admittedly a website address is given where you can follow through with questions should you wish to do so.
I find it difficult to string and unstring the bow and I use a support rope to do this (I tension the bow with the rope so that the loop of the string can be looped over the tip of the bow.) I suppose there is a knack to this but I have not mastered it yet. Perhaps additional tips could be put on a website or in the documentation. I would probably find the stringing of a higher strength bow very challenging.
All in all this is a great product and will give me many hours of entertainment and walking in search of long distant arrows. The distances I am making (from shot to pickup is about 130 metres as measuered by GPS). My knowledge of arrows is nil and I may have an inappropriate set. It is still great fun!
