StormShield garage door threshold,September 4, 2009
By Garagefrom Iowa
"I am ready to install the StormShield you sent me: however, the one criticism I have seen on line is that the adhesive supplied is not enough to do the job. Local merchants have been unable to advise me what adhesive to buy to be sure that I have a sufficient supply. Can Cabelas supply me with more adhesive? Or can you tell me what to buy locally?"

Quick and easy,June 26, 2009
By Plumpoorfrom Great Falls, Montana
"I purchased two of the shields, I have an eighteen and ten foot door. I didn't quite stick to the instructions since I didn't see the need to glue the strip as shown in the instructions. I marked and measured making sure it went all the way into the rail then cut to length and notched. Drew a pencil line on both sides on each end, removed the strip and used a chalk line to mark position. I then layed the glue as shown inside the chalk lines so I didn't need any assistance. Layed the strip, shut the door, and still had some glue left over. Have had no leaking into the garage since installed, and would highly recommend them."

Storm Sheild garage door threshold.,May 18, 2009
By jcam123from Hendersonville, TN
"Been looking for solution to blown in rain for awhile. This product did the job even with all the rain we have had in the last month: not a drop came through. Easy to install; I cut 20' into two 10' sections. Had to judge the glue for each door but they included plenty to do the job. I highly recommend product."

Very good so far,January 20, 2009
By MrsMsBBfrom Naalehu, Hawaii
"It's only been in use for about a week. It kept the water out completely, in the one rain we've had since then. A contractor friend installed it for me, and commented that he thought the reason the glue had run out for other people who reviewed it was that they put too much in the "scribble" area between the two parallel lines he laid. He didn't run out because he didn't use too much. He'd installed other similar things in the past. Before he put it in, my only concern was that I might trip over it going in and out of the garage, but it's not that high. Just right to keep out the wet. I would certainly recommend it to anyone. I wish I'd had one when I lived in Maine, and the water would not only come into the garage, but would freeze and be hazardous to walk on when I went out to the car."

Great Product,December 30, 2008
By OttFarmfrom Puyallup, WA
"We bought 3 of these for our shop several years ago, and could not be happier. When we built our new garage, we found that one of the doors just would not close correctly and was allowing water under it. This, again, solved the problem. A great product and one we are very happy with. A BIG thumbs up from us."

Was pleasantly suprised,November 21, 2008
By Anonymousfrom WA coast
"I get strong wind driven rain, sand, and ocean storms always pushing stuff under my gargae door since there was a noticeable crown in my threshold. I've seen this product and bought it as a better priced alternative to having my garage floor resurfaced. I was very pleased with the results. Even though it has not stopped all the water from blowing in it stopped a VAST majority and nearly all the sand. There could be better install instructions with the kit. It doesnt exactly "roll out and install". I let mine sit in the sun of my driveway for a few hours to flatten and soften it up, this made fitting and cutting way easy. As everyone else here pretty much said buy extra glue, they only give one tube. I needed a 2nd tube for a 12' door, I bought the heavy duty poly based construction adhesive. Overall I have been pleased with this product and would recommend it."

Storm Shield Garage Door Threshold,November 18, 2008
By nasa1from Portland, Oregon
"I installed two thresholds on my two garage doors in August 2008. I read the reviews posted up to that time and was concerned about the adhesive strength and quantity. However, I had adhesive left over and I thought I had used a lot. Trim any that squeezes out from under the threshold with a utility knife, after it has cured (usually the next day). I made sure the floor surface was clean, using a wire brush on a drill motor and MEK (methyl ethyl ketone). Both thresholds were installed in one day. The single-car door was not much of a challenge. The two-car door required lots of adhesive be put down and it began to set up in the direct sunlight as I neared the end of the application. However, the threshold has stayed firmly attached to the floor for three monhts. I too used tin snips to trim the ends to fit around the door trim. It is important to unroll the threshold and let it flatten out for a while (I set mine out for a week) befor beginning the installation. It also helps to install it in warm weather. My garage floor has a low spot at one end where the door comes down. In blowing rain the water would slide right under the door. This threshold blocks the rain from being blown into/under the door. Driving over the threshold produces a noticeable 'bump' but not significant. Follow the directions, flatten out the threshold, measure, measure, measure, trim the ends where needed, prepare the surface, use a caulking gun, and apply pressure to the door overnight."

WORKS WELL,November 11, 2008
By Edmundo1from Brunswick Maine
"The Storm Shield Garage Door Threshold went on fairly easy. Take your time and follow the directions on the box for installation and it should be a breeze. I used multi use snips to trim to size and it was a bit difficult to cut through the thick section. The only complaint I have which I see others have listed also is not enough adhesive included. The 1st one I installed took the whole tube plus some of the second tube from the second shield I purchased. When I had to put he second one down, I went and purchased some Gorilla Glue to finish the job. The shields after installation did exactly what they were designed to do and kept water from coming under my garage doors."

Keeps out the rain from the garage,October 13, 2008
By cakNHfrom Lakes Region, New Hampshire
"We had a new garage door put on, replacing a 20+ year old wood door that never leaked. I guess we had a pretty rainy summer here in the North East this year, every time it rained we got puddles around the new garage door. This little thing did the trick!
Installation wasn't that easy, the threshold is pretty thick and not an easy cut without the right tools -- and I never seem to have the right tools for anything these days. I also was not impressed with the tube of glue, it didn't seem like enough even for my 10 foot door. With some careful squeezing like the last drops of toothpaste, I got it stuck down and in place perfectly. No light comes under the door now and the rains stay out too.
Can't wait to see how it holds up to our winters!
I'd recommend this product, but give yourself plenty of time, measure twice, cut once, and pay attention when you squeeze the tube to make sure you get all the glue out."

Threshholds for Garage doors,,February 24, 2008
By Mrkwang4from wa
"i like it but you do need a flat floor it worked great tell it snowed and rubber was stiff and when we drove over Thresholds that must have loosen some of the gluing and water started to come back in. maybe if i would had extra glue it would hold don't know. would i buy this again yes but i would go and buy more glue. So any of you out there buy this you should get more glue so it will hold better. let it get a real good seal it might hold up better. i 'am hoping that i can pull it off this summer and redo it over."

"You must havea perfectly flat floor for there to be a seal all the way across. I had one low spot, just enough to see light under before installing threshold and water came in at this location after threshold was installed. Also, there is nothing to stop water from coming in at ends of threshold at sides of door. I had to go back to my self designed "water blocker"."
