"I replaced the barrel on my 870 last year and the new style vent rib could also be used to file through chain. It is not smooth and it's a little fatter than the old style. This sight comes in two pieces: a plastic piece that clips around the rib first and the metal part that clips on second. I had to trim the plastic part because the rib was too thick but the metal part clipped on over the plastic piece to the rib snugly. I just got it before teal season and have run 6 boxes of rounds through the gun with no problems. The green sight is good and bright for both morning and evening hunts. I would go with this over a magnetic sight any day."
