Hogue Rifle Stock,March 19, 2009
By b4hunterfrom Fort Myers,FL
"I replaced the factory Ruger synthetic stock with the Hogue Stock with the full length bedding block on a Ruger M77 MKII .30-06. I also installed a new Kahles scope at the same time. I really like the feel of the Hogue stock over the original Ruger stock. The best group that I used to be able to get out of this rifle was approximately 2". Between the stock, the scope and a trigger, this rifle now is shooting consistent sub -1" groups. For the money, this is a great investment. I own a couple of rifles with these stocks on them."

"Five minute switch out and a perfect fit for my Ruger mkII 350 rem mag. Replacement stock feels much better than the original synthetic and the group at 100 yds came down to 1" from previous 2-3". Looks great and the comfort from the larger pistol grip is very nice would recommend to anyone."

stock shortcomings,September 9, 2008
By dan61
"I love the feel of the stock, with it's pistol grip and the surface has great grip in any conditions. The only problem I had with the stock, and it is a major problem, is the free float feature. My stock didn't allow the barrel to float at all. The instructions said to tap the recoil lug in the direction the barrel contacted the stock with a brass hammer. If you couldn't get it to move take it to a gunsmith for the service. I took it to my gunsmith and he pointed out that the stock should have a much better fit with the recoil lug centered as the factory stock did. He had to work the action more than he would have liked to get the barrel off of the stock on the contact side. I have not had a chance to zero the rifle yet to see how the free float is working."

Workmanship & Quality,April 29, 2008
By RussellSfrom Scottsdale, AZ
"This was my second purchase of a Hogue stock. The first (for a model 70 in 270 Win) fit the rifle perfectly, with pretty good overall attention to quality and detail and plenty of clearance all around the barrel...truly free floating. I really liked it. Pricey, but I liked it. This one (for a Model 70 in 9mmWSM) is pushing on the barrel on one side, and no amount of tape (this is what Hogue recommends as a fix) on the barrel lug will cause it not to touch. I have removed and remounted the thing a dozen times, adding tape each time, but to no avail. Once so much tape builds up, the rifle won't fit in the stock at all! Additionally, the butt cushion does not mate well with the rifle stock, making it just look like some amateur tried to make the fit. I am not happy with #2, and if I were not going hunting in the rain for a week in Alaska two weeks from now, I would have sent it back, but I can't afford to take a wood stock on a wet and expensive trip."

"I used this stock on my Rem. model 700 sps 7mm rem. mag. This stock is great. It is very well made, and the gun was a perfect fit, even with the new Xmark trigger. I my opinion this stock is much better than the others. Accuracy did improve after installing this stock."

Great stock for the money,February 24, 2008
By RockyHunterfrom Colorado Springs, CO
"I bought the full-length bedding block stock for my Ruger M77 II 338 Win Mag several years ago. At first I was concerned about the stock contacting the sides of the barrel so I contacted Hogue for help. They told me the rubber coating is about 1/8 inch thick and said it's not a big problem removing some of the material for free-float clearance. The easiest way to do it is using a Dremel-type tool and carefully removing the rubber a little at a time where it makes contact. I did this and now have a full free-floating barrel and no damage to the stock. As to the stock's features, I really like the ergonomic fit of the grip (almost like shooting a thumb-hole stock), the semi-beaver-tail forearm and the high, straight comb, not to mention the very effective recoil pad. It's also practically dead silent when twigs strike against it. I just recommended this to my son for replacing the stock on his Remington 700 30-06."

Hogue Rifle Stock with Full-Length bedding Block,January 29, 2008
By Bart31from Salt Lake City, Utah
"I had to return the first stock because the area around the lug was not properly machined to fit my gun. On the replacement stock, the machining was very good. However, I was disappointed in the fit around the barrel. This poriton of the stock appears to be not straight and the stock contacts the barrel on one side and not the other. I have not bedded the stock yet, I am undecided about using the stock. It would be nice to know if I could machine out the barrel area a little bit so that I know that the barrel is completely free floating. Overall, it is a nice stock. the concept is good and the feel is good. The forearm is a little bulky. It is good for a man with large hands but it may be a bit bulky to carry out in the field."

"This is my 3rd Hogue full length bed stock. They are comfortable to shot, one is in a 300 H&H and it definetly makes the recoil more comfortable. The fit is good, however, the smaller diameter rifles (25 cal.) will have more free space toward the fore end than larger cal. It is only cosmetic, but it does not give that finished look some guys like. All three rifles shot less than 1 MOA without glass bedding. I plan to purchase another one for a 300 Win Mag."

Great Ruger stock,June 18, 2007
By esymnyfrom Arizona
"Purchased the full bed stock for a Ruger 77 Mark II 22-250, to replace a factory synthetic stock. Installed quickly with no adjustments, fit was perfect. First trip to the range was impressive, managed consistent 1/2" to 1" three shots groups at 100 yards. Plan on buying another for a sporter 308. Would recommend to anyone with a Ruger 77."

Excellent Rifle Stock,November 23, 2006
By Gunutfrom Weatherford, TX
"Excellent rifle stock, easy to intall, great feel, and improved accuracy. I intalled mine on a Remington 700 30-06 Sprg. in about five minutes. I got an improved grip and feel on the rifle and a three shot group the size of a dime at 100 yards."
