Needs work,

"While they do ream out the holes, a great deal of effort is required to remove the material in pre-made handles. For individual cork rings, the should work great."

cork reamer,
July 29, 2008
By newrodmaker
from oregon
|
"I found the small reamer too large and with too much taper to use. I wanted to enlarge a flyrod grip to .40 on rod end and .410 reel end. The reamers tip is .335 and 6 inches down is .410. ( 5 inches is .40 ) Five to six inches of reamer is not enough to work with. The reamer is a half inch where it runs out of grit and has 13 inches of abrasive. The sku on the package is correct but also has 1/4 on it. Would have been nice if the catalog has the demensions other than sml, med and lg...."

Could be better,
July 2, 2008
By Hogw1ld

"This reamer is at best average! It reams cork decent. However the reaming medium that is bonded to the handle does not stay attached very well, I built two rods with 2 cork handles and the top 1.5 inches of the reamer has lost the medium. Better of spending the same amount of money on a round file at the local hardware store."

Cheap and do their job,
April 15, 2008
By zuren

"I don't know how many rods I'm going to build so I opted for the cheapest reamers I could find. I have the Medium and Large reamers and they did there job. The only thing I would change is the handle area. I had to remove a lot of material on one grip so the reamer was meeting a lot of resistance, to the point that I was getting blisters on my hand. Either my technique was wrong, my hands aren't tough enough or just hanging onto the smooth blank of the reamer doesn't work well in that situation. My solution was to wrap a rag around the grit just in front of the handle area to have all the comfortable torque I could apply."

Cabela's Cork Reamers,
August 7, 2007
By Flifisherman
from Fort Worth, TX

"These reamers are very handy when fitting cork handles to a rod. They work quite well, except when you make the mistake I made of trying to use it with a drill to speed up the process. The reamer is not made to be used that way,and it collapsed. I have since ordered another, and put the drill away. Good Fishing"
